Posada Belen Museo is a very special place. The owner operator of over 40 years keeps this wonderful and unique hotel in beautiful shape. Each room is spotless, has comfortable beds and a private bath. The courtyard and various sitting areas are full of antiquities and fascinating folk art. To top it off, Francesa speaks English very well, loves having guests and shows it, fixes a delicious full breakfast and freely gives hugs. She’s also very helpful should you have any questions. Don’t miss the opportunity to stay with her in this delightful site.

I stayed several nights (10 overall) and i can say that they handled my stay very well and any concerns were taken care of promptly. Its a quaint "guatemala" style hotel right near the police station so relatively safe. Parking is not available but on the street, parking garages close up kind of early. I enjoyed my stay and it was definitely affordable!

There's a rich beauty and unspoken love in this place. For starters, the hotel is in an historic area of the Capital, where many of the buildings hold centuries of history (many of the buildings here are forbidden from being remodeled). Many of the old buildings are reminiscent of Spanish-style architecture (open on the inside, iron bars on the outside). The entire hotel experience was nothing short of wonderful. Everyone from the owners to the staff were courteous, friendly, and supremely helpful in all things (from finding locations, making local calls, carrying luggage, making off-hours meals). One can tell that everyone here loves what they do and the people they serve. The hotel is adjacent to what appears to be some police outpost (we stayed in this hotel 5 nights and the police cars were there all the time). Although the statistics show high crime rates in the capital, one must also travel wisely (not wearing a lot of flash, and asking the tour guides where and when it’s safe to take out cameras). Overall, it’s not scary, and if you’re intelligent, you’ll have a good mind for personal safety (do’s and don’ts); and if not, simply ask and anyone will be happy to tell you. We arrived for Holy Week (the time between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday) and in 2014, this time was a bit warm, but a few fans and cold water (their water is filtered and purified) did the trick (we came from Florida so it was much cooler for us than we’re accustomed to). The tour guide told the hotel we’d be coming for our honey moon and the staff had hand-made a rose-petal decoration (I imagine it took half an hour at least) for us, and they gave us a delicious bottle of wine (normally I don’t like Merlot, but this Peruvian wine was delicious). The breakfast is amazing (the “plato tipico” or typical plate). For business, there is a little business center, and wifi for the guests. They thought of everything in this hotel: for instance, if the solar-heated water runs out, they also have electric water heaters so you’re never without a shower. Even the maid is honest. I had left Q.5 for her for making the beds and not knowing, she left the money there for us because we didn’t tell her anything. I wish there were more than 5 points to give the hotel, because I’d give them over 100%. Hopefully we can come back some day and we’ll definitely be staying here over and over again.

Atrip back in time! I love this place for its genuine Guatemala expirence. If you want a Hyatt experience this is not it. It is a wonderful homey expirence. I enjoyed the collection artifacts and art. The rooms are like a trip to the past. The garden nook is very peaceful place to relax. It is a 7 block walk to the National Palace and square. The host is the most gracious person you could meet. The special charm of the place is difficult to define.

We just stayed one night, but we’ ve been treated in a really careful way. I feel like this was one of the most typical experience we’ ve had. It definitely is a familiar conduction hotel but with all its perks: the food is prepared on the moment for you and it is the real local food. Also the collection of maya objects adds a touch od history. Thank you Francesca, very recommended. No parking inside but police station is next door and there is usually place on the street.

I usually love old hotels, but this hotel was dark, musty, and uninviting. The only other person I saw there was the hotel manager. No other guests or employees, and no food was served. The manager turned off all the interior lights at 6PM including the lights in the entryway and lobby. He came out of his office and glared at me whenever I left my room. I felt like I was on house arrest. Rooms are traditionally decorated, but the beds and pillows are rock hard. If you like staying in a place that looks like the Addams Family house and smells like your grandmother's basement, then this is the place for you.

Safe and cozy place in a probably not so safe city. I stayed for two nights and can't complain. The room was clean and tidy, the shower had warm water and the staff offers you clean drinking water. It is a very calm and peaceful place. Furthermore the staff is very friendly and helps you whenever you ask for something.

Don't be fooled by the nondescript exterior, the inside is lovely, beautifully decorated with artifacts and Maya textiles. The staff and owner are very helpful, and can arrange transportation from the airport. The rooms are comfortable, and the shower is warm. I've stayed here several times and recommend it.

Friendly staff and owner. They were nice and helpful. The hotel is very pretty and welcoming once inside. The rooms are big and comfortable; only recommendation: they could be cleaned a little more. For the rest the service is really good and for a few nights it could be fine.

If one needs to be in zone1 for any reason, Posada Belén is a nice, quiet place, in the historic part of town. It is a modest but very clean old-style place with friendly and helpful personnel. My room had a the basic furnishings that made my stay comfortable - an armoire, good lighting, and plenty of electrical outlets. No TV, but good wifi. The bathroom plumbing is rustic but offered hot water for my morning shower. The hotel offers breakfast but is about 6 blocks from the restaurants on 6th Avenue of one wishes further meals.
