It's a nice place to stay BUT the old lady who took me to the airport the next morning stopped so someone could sell me gloves that were "required". I asked her in Spanish if it was true and she explained that it was due to new covid-19 regulations. When I got to the airport, nobody else had silly rubber gloves. It wasn't a lot of money but I don't like being taken advantage of. Either she's totally clueless or she's in on the deal.

Nah did not like this one. We did not get any sleep prior to our 24 hour (!) journey to Europe due to noisy rooms. A lot of money for a room with holes in it (almost 400Q). They told us there was a free 'pick up' but no one ever came! We waited for 20 minutes before we started walking on our own. Funny fact was that they never left the hostel to get us. We never got an apology only 'yeah it was busy'. In the morning we got the 'shuttle' which is very short and easily to do by foot (5 - 10 minutes walk). There are no restaurants open in the area after 7PM, so be aware to eat some cheap food, as they don't offer any food service. Would not stay here again. You can get a fancy hotel for the same money.

I landed in Guatemala City late at night & opted to stay right by the airport. The Guatefriends team were accommodating & helpful. The free shuttle service to & from the airport is awesome. I was in a room right by the bathrooms & could hear everything through the walls, but it didn't ruin my sleep. Good wifi, yummy included breakfast & clean rooms.

The reservation included breakfast and transportation to the airport (which is 3 minutes away). They tell us that they can take us at 7am and breakfast is served at 7am, so both things cannot be, that if we have breakfast at 7 and they take us at 7:10am we must pay an additional charge because it is not the schedule that they impose, It is a shame the greedy attitude of the Old lady in charge, she does not seem to be aware that the clients are paying.

Watch out 6% surcharge to payback card. Really convenient for coming and going to/ from the airport. Rooms simple but clean. Simple breakfast included (eggs and bread), shuttles to airport offered but its also walkable. No reason to stay here other than for airport purposes. Main guy is very friendly and helpful.

Near from the airport, the dorms were nice and clean. And the women at the reception was soo friendly, and also drive me to the airport at 4am in the morning for free! And she also offers some snacks for their guests at the 24 of december! Could't recommend it enough!

Nice room and comfy beds everything super clean. The free shuttle service is a nice touch and is their own minibus which is nice but they overload you with information that could be more straight forward. Don’t stress and go walking I waited 1 hour to be picked up. And the hostel is 4 min drive from the airport or 10 min walk. Expected more for breakfast very poor. Maybe a few more fruits or some butter or jam for the bread would be great.

I’ve stayed at Hostal Guatefriends 3 times and it’s so convenient for airport arrivals or before flying out of Guatemala City. Clean, nice private rooms, affordable, great communication. Noise can travel so I recommend ear plugs if you’re sensitive to sound. The free airport shuttle is so convenient. Highly recommend!

The most nicest host! Me and 2 friends stayed here only for a night to catch a flight. Very fresh hostel, the best I stayed at in Guatemala. I wish I had more time in Guatemala City because the host gave me so many recommendations! Would definitely recommend! Super good price also, breakfast included!!

The rooms were great. It's close by a lot of restaurants that will deliver, and at such a close distance to central Guatemala city, and the airport. The free shuttles to the airport are very convenient, and run every hour. Breakfast is served in the mornings and it is fresh, which I love. The staff is very friendly, and the patios are great for hanging out. I especially loved the showers and clean bathrooms. 10/10 would recommend!

Did not stay there but they were kind enough to be flexible with my reservation and allow me to cancel it. Thank you!

Super close to the airport and responsive staff but dont expect to get good sleep. Extremely hot with no airflow, loud people and sounds from outside, did not get any sleep. They are very responsive to Whatsapp and the shuttle leaves on time!

9 minute walk from the airport (there is also a shuttle service). We got into Guatemala City late and found this hostel quickly. They had availability and were within walking distance. Traditional breakfast included, shower, shuttle, and anything else. Hospitality was spot on and the women running the desk were always super helpful! Ask if you need anything! The only thing I'd add is a fan in the room for my sweaty, American self. 9.5/10 recommendation

Nice and clean private room! Very good price and a big plus that they offer the free airport shuttle! He was just a few minutes late, so not a big deal 👍

Very clean room and bathroom, the guests here are generally quiet. It’s a good place before / after a fight. The Airport pick-up service is also very helpful. Only the soundproof of the room could be better.

In this place make sure to coordinate everything with the front desk. The Location is near the airport so that is nice.

Amazing location, it is very close to the airport and offers a shuttle service. The staff is very helpful and willing to help. Rooms were comfy and prices were very good for the location

Booked room days before arrival. While on the bus from Rio Dulce to the City, 15 December, hotel messaged us they "double booked" our room. No room for us that night so look else where. Most important part of a reservation is keeping the reservation.

I appreciated that there is a shuttle service and it is close to the airport, but I didn’t get any sleep. There is no airflow, no open windows or fan. It gets noisy from people coming from the airport at all hours. Also the hallway lights turn on with human movement. The staff is sweet and provided a complimentary breakfast.

Close to the airport, clean rooms, the showers are not very private and are co-ed.. I do not like that. I am a modest person. The free ride to the airport was great, quick.

The hostel was really nice. The girl there is kind and speaks English. There’s shuttle from/to the airport for free and it takes 3min. The room is clean and safe. The breakfast is delicious. 5*

Lovely staff. Very welcoming. Great prices for a lovely room with your own bathroom. Offer a free shuttle service from the airport. Gave good advice to us as travelers not accustomed to the area.

Very nice hostel. It was very clean, which I appreciate a lot I arrived in the middle of the night and booked in advance, so it wasn't a problem. It's easy to walk from the airport and the breakfast was awesome. The lady doesn't speak English, what was a bit of a problem, because she didn't respond to my email. Luckily everything went well, but I wasn't sure if arriving in the middle of the night could be a problem. One thing I didn't really like was the fact that there were no curtains.

Excelent hostel! Very kind personnel, clean, nice and good room service. Delicious breakfast. Free transfer from the Aurora airport to the Guatefriends hostel. Near to the airport - 10 minutes walking or 4 minutes in a car. Very quiet and secure place. TV set and WiFi on every room. There is a clothe washing option. I will definitely recommend this place as low cost and nice. I will make a reservation again.

no blackout curtain and bright light outside make sleep difficult don't waste your money here if you want to sleep

So far, great and clear instructions but the worse phone assistance I've ever experienced, specially at night to this number 24451347... To me, that says a lot about a business and personally, won't never ever book a room again with this hostal... I should've asked for the lady's name on the phone, cause she needs to be trainned or replaced...

Best location from Aurora international airport. You can ask pick-up service from airport without additional cost. Just call to the hostel at the arrival lobby in front of cafe. Staffs are friendly and kind enough to give some advice for staying at Guatemala. Rooms and restrooms are well-cleaned. Terrace and garden are filled with beautiful plants. I recommend to have pleasant time at the terrace in second floor. Breakfast is simple but enough. You can recognize you are in Guatemala by black bitter coffee.

We didn't stay at Guatefriend but they held our luggage for the day for $3/bag so we could go explore Guatemala City before our evening flight. Since there's no luggage storage at the airport we were extremely grateful to the hostel for providing this service (and at the last minute too--I contacted them on Whatsapp from Antigua that morning to ask about it).
