One of the best experience I ever had in hostels ! The team was like a real family always taking good care about guest ! Tatiana helped me a lot and gave me some free medicine when I felt bad, Oscar took time to help me to practice my Spanish and took me around Antigua during his free time and the other staff members were also very helpful too. The place was very clean and the wifi worked perfectly! There is also free tea and coffee 24 hours a day and a little space for cooking. The rooftop is amazing with a nice view with the 3 volcanoes (Agua, Acatenango and Fuego). I definitely recommend this hostel !

I could rave all day about how amazing The Purpose Hostel is! I found the location great as for it was quiet yet not a far walk to get anywhere I needed. The staff was always smiling and welcoming & they helped me with everything and anything I needed (I was not as prepared for my trip as I thought and they helped me in all the ways they could.) They even helped me make my birthday a bit extra even without me telling them. Honestly couldn't recommend a greater place to stay while in Antigua!!

This has been my favourite hostel in my 3 month trip. I was very sick during my last night and was on my own and they took such good care of me. The staff here are wonderful; genuinely caring people who cannot do enough for you. The rooms are very clean, so is the kitchen. Lovely atmosphere here and beautiful rooftop. Would stay here without hesitation again & recommend to all!

Maybe it is not the most beautiful hostel in Antigua but still really nice and super super comfy! Beds with curtains, light and plug. Clean bathrooms. Bus prices they offer are really cheap (I could find cheaper). Really smiling and helpful. A good place to stay, no doubts

I love this place! Everyone is so friendly and supportive. This is a non-profit hostel that employs locals and therefore contributes to a lovely community. The rooms are spacious and comfy, bathrooms very clean and the kitchen very well equipped. You have the opportunity to store your things. It is a quiet hostel with an amazing view from the roof top. I can highly recommend it.

The staff here were incredibly friendly and welcoming as soon as we arrived. All of them have a genuinely caring attitude towards all guests and made the stay feel very homey, safe and comfortable. The kitchen and common areas were always kept clean and the rooftop terrace was beautifully maintained. Would definitely stay here again!!! Thank you Purpose hostel!

One of the best hostels we stayed in across south and Central America. The staff were incredible and foster such a nice atmosphere among all guests. The place is constantly being cleaned so it is spotless. The private room was lovely and the dorms looked great too. Would recommend

We had a private room with two beds, which was very spacious. The beds were very comfortable and the room was even cleaned daily. The toilets/showers were even cleaned several times a day! This was the cleanest hostel we have ever stayed in. The rooms are a bit noisy but everyone kept to the quiet hours so that wasn't a problem. You can also do your laundry there cheaply and get it back the same day (in top condition). The staff are also very friendly!

I do not understand the reviews and also can absolutely not recommend the place in COMPARISON to all the other beautiful places. Why? The worst aspects were: - Room was very moisty. Fan had to run the whole night - Matress was ages old, never slept so bad - Showers and toilets are in one room and pretty open. It is weird. Neutral: - More or less old, could use more maintenance - Everything seems a bit random. No I do not need luxury places but you can create a fitting atmosphere with less. Positive: - Staff was friendly! Where should you go? - Barbaras - Casi Casa - Casa Gitana - Flore - Ojala - Maya Papaya - etc…

Unparalleled kindness. Tatiana and her team create the most welcoming atmosphere in their beautiful, clean and calm hostel. Right from the get go we felt welcomed by the lovely staff, who made sure we had everything we needed. All the small details really make the difference in this hostel: having guests names on the doors, the exceptionally clean bathrooms, free tea and coffee and gorgeous roof terrace with epic sunset views. They also had great recommendations for things to do in and around Antigua, with a focus on ethical tourism. Thanks so much for everything!

By far my most positive hostel experience to date. From check-in to check-out, the staff is incredibly welcoming and informative. The entire hostel was incredibly clean and felt very safe as a female traveler. For the price, this hostel can't be beat.

This place is incredible. All of the staff are so attentive and helpful!! This was our favourite hostel in Antigua by far. The rooms are spacious, they do your washing up for you and there are plenty of places to chill if you want to read/work. You must stay here!!!!!

Amazing hostel! Great rooftop terrace, awesome location, really comfortable, very clean. It’s like a hostel that was designed by people who have spent a lot of time living in hostels

Possibly one of the best hostels I've stayed in around the world. The service is truly top-notch with the staff helping me make multiple complicated arrangements on a short notice! Really fortunate to have found Purpose on hostelworld

This was a brilliant place to stay! The staff were friendly and made us feel so welcomed. At all times, the place was kept immaculately clean. And - of course - the rooftop terrace was amazing!

This was my first hostel experience, but not my friends that I was traveling with, and we both loved it. She said it was the nicest hostel she had ever stayed at. The staff was extremely helpful and on top of making sure the hostel stayed clean. And they did a wonderful job of enforcing quiet time at night. I absolutely loved the roof top. The view was incredible and I loved all of the plants.

I walked in the door and the guy at reception was not very friendly. I was given a top bunk and the bed was literally concave. There were no windows to the outside and despite having the fan on, the room was super hot and stuffy at night. Ok kitchen, no breakfast included, nice terrace.

Amazing staff, I was actually blown away by this place. I was originally going to book one of the party hostels in Antigua, but I am so glad that I chose this place instead. I stayed here for three days, and wish I could stay longer, but they are completely booked. One of the top three hostels among the 30 or so I have experienced on my current trip. The staff was amazing, and three of the hostel people were exceptionally good looking; increasingly rare in a world that promotes mediocrity!

Lovely, simple, pretty little place. Great roof terrace. Quiet and calm - no real party vibe but lovely staff and a great place to chill.

I had such a wonderful time staying at The Purpose! The staff is so friendly and bends over backwards to accommodate and help. The roof garden terrace is so delightful to spend time on, and there’s sweet small common spaces with hammocks and cushions on the other two floors. My room didn’t have AC but it had a fan and was perfectly comfortable. The Purpose was not a party hostel at all but it’s only 4 blocks from Tropicana which you can visit to get party vibes, and then return to get a great nights sleep with lovely people at Purpose.

I don't even know where to start. This is the place. All the little details to have a perfect stay are there, and more. Too name a few, hot coffee all day, work space, big lockers, comfy beds that you don't have to make, calm environment that you can meet people, fast flow water, good WiFi, affordable transports, affordable beer, organised and clean kitchen, they make the dishes, plenty of showers and sinks, chilling hammocks everywhere, nice terrace, friendly staff. The motivating quotes everywhere are the cherry on top of the cake. Not many places in the world I would give 7 stars if I could, but this is one. Thank you for the 5 great stays I had with you.

Extremely friendly staff, very helpful and welcoming. Very clean, good kitchen facilities and great showers/toilets. View of the volcano is awesome from the rooftop. Highly recommend to anyone staying in Antigua, only regret is not staying longer!

One of the cleanest hostels i have been at in 1 year traveling. Amazing rooftop with a view of all. The vulcanos around. Very nice hostel stuff and the owner is lovely and helps out whereever she can. I got one of her privat jerseys for a vulcano hike because i lost mine that i don't freeze to much. ❤️

Thank you so much to Tatiana and her amazing team at purpose hostel! The work you guys put in to make people feel at home and comfortable is so appreciated! Your work that goes beyond a normal hostel's task is so important - keep it up :) If you're looking for a quiet place in the heart of Antigua that allows you to get some work in or even just to relax and meet fantastic people, this is it. Also there's free coffee all day! Gonna miss our morning chats Tati! QuĂŠ gente buena onda <3

Friendly welcoming staff who helped us with laundry and booking a tour to Pacaya. Loved the curtains on the beds and the hanging pockets. Lots of drinking water, coffee and tea available. Great roof terrace with nice views. Unfortunately toilets and showers were tiny which meant there was nowhere to comfortably change clothes.

The perfect place to stay in Antigua, very clean, great to do work in and has a beautiful rooftop. The front of house staff (Tatiana in particular) also are really great, our favourite place we’ve stayed in during our 2 months of backpacking!

The staff is so lovely and helpful. I have never seen an hostel as clean as this one. There is everything: an amazing rooftop with the view on the city and the volcano, working place, kitchen well equipped... Thanks a lot!

We were travelling through the country there and back for few weeks in Feb-March this year and everytime we went through Antigua (as that was usually the most convenient way) this hostel was our home base. It was mostly due the very kind and helpful staff, calm and nice environment and comfy beds :) There is a coffee and fresh water available all day, little book exchange (we happily used), nonstop reception service and more. It of course still is a hostel, so count with basic but cool looking shared bathrooms and limited options to cook (if heating up in a microwave can be called that way :) ) We are thankful for many information and arrangements done for us by the personnel :)

Would not recommend to go here to be honest. Although overall it was very clean, our room was smelling extremely bad (lots of moist in the walls). After stating that we did not want to stay for longer than two nights, the co-owner of the place said that it was not smelly before we came (yeah right😂). Furthermore, the atmosphere is super quit and not a lot of people talking to each other (weird in a hostel setting). When we came back to pick-up our luggage we were also not allowed to enter the hostel further than the hallway (because we were not guests anymore) and we were charged to use the bathroom (really friendly, thanks for that…).

Good hostel with a big BUT. In my opinion the place is a bit over-hyped. Yes it’s very clean (constantly cleaned throughout the day) and the rooftop is chill (see the volcano erupt on clear days). However, most of the dorm rooms have poor ventilation and no outside windows. Even with open door and Fan the air is really bad in the room we stayed in. The kitchen is a bit impractical as it has no running water or sink, which is odd. Hope this helps making your decision.

Booked this hostel for 2 nights a couple of weeks before arriving and glad we did so as the city was celebrating Festival de las Flores. The staff here was absolutely amazing and gave us great recommendations for food and hiking. Kept the place absolutely running smoothly. The bathrooms and the rooms were spacious and very clean. Oh and did I mention it has some amazing rooftop views!! Would definitely stay here again and can’t recommend enough.

This hostel has great vibes! The owners and workers really care about their guests, the locals, and the environment. If you’re old like me and trying to escape the party hostel atmosphere, this is for you. Tatiana is the Queen of recommendations and good conversation! Enjoy the beautiful terrace with a cup of complimentary coffee :)

Tatjana and the rest of the staff was extremely kind and helpful and kept the place super clean at all times. Rooftop is really nice. Stayed here four nights in total so I feel like that's a testament to the quality of the place

One of the nicer hostels I’ve stayed at this past year. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great terrace. They have 5 wifi networks which is great but it still is a little slow and drops sometimes so maybe not the best if you need a secure connection for work. But overall this place is very nice for the price. They also have free coffee/tea all day and nice commune areas to chill. Beds are not the most comfortables but good enough to have a nice sleep + privacy curtains are nice to have. Showers are a little awkward to me since there’s no place to undress outside the wet part (makes sense? 😂) do I used the bathroom stall which is a little cramped and awkward as well - but no deal breaker. The kitchen is well equipped but there’s no sink (it’s a little down the hall). Overall it’s good - I would stay here again.

Good hostel with super friendly and helpful staff! Location is a bit off the center, but that's fine. What I didn't like: - no running water in the kitchen - I was not allowed to stay and use the facilities one hour before the official check-in - my mattress in the dorm was not very comfortable - the toilets are super tiny and open, so there is no privacy - it was also hard to connect to others because it has 3 floors and everyone is somewhere

Tatiana and her staff were so welcoming and helpful it really made the hostel feel like a home away from home. Lots of small touches here and there around the hostel made it feel homey and cozy. I loved this hostel and would definitely come back someday!

Best Hostel I've ever stayed in. 24h free coffee and tea, you can store your stuff while going on the Acatenango hike, super clean and comfy beds. They even clean the dishes for you! Absolutely the hostel to go to in Antigua!
