Wonderful little hotel with friendly, caring staff and a lovely rooftop terrace to enjoy breakfast. Maison Bougainvillea is a great place to stay. The owner, Irving, was a wealth of knowledge with some top recommendations for things to do, eat, and see. It is very quiet at night. The breakfasts, a choice between traditional and pancakes and fruit, were delicious. And although it seems like it is situated outside of the center, Antigua is small. I walked from Maison Bougainvillea to the open market on the other side of town in 25 minutes. If you want to save your legs, Uber X is the same price as the Tuk-Tuks, and WAY more comfortable on the cobblestones.

This small hotel was a great choice for my week stay in Antigua, it is only a short walk from restaurants and shops. The terrace has great views of all three volcanoes and you can see Volcan de Agua erupting at night. Irving and Rosa assisted me with all of my tours, and we had many fabulous conversations in both English and Spanish. Breakfast is served to your liking and coffee was available all day, You have access to a kitchen and a large refrigerator for food. They even had ice cubes which on hot days was a nice relief. They have a large water filter so you can fill your water bottles. I will definitely return.

The best of all staff in a hostel just outside the center of Antigua, with less traffic going around. Beautiful roof terrace with view to Agua, Acatenango & Fuego. Very clean and outstanding hospitality! Every time again!

The staff was incredibly kind to us when we had an unfortunate situation with our other accommodation. The rooms are spacious, the water pressure in the shower is great, and they have a proper queen size bed. If you go to the roof, you have amazing views of the volcanoes.

Very lovely hotel - the room is very clean, the rooftop has a fabulous view of all three volcanos. The breakfast was nice. The staff is really friendly especially the owner of the hotel. He provided very good recommendations in Antigua and was super helpful. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Charming place to stay in Antigua. Great ambience and a close walk to the central park. Breakfast was delicious and can be enjoyed up on the rooftop with a beautiful view. The rooftop is also great for lounging in the hammock with a book or doing a solo yoga practice in the morning. Irving was a wealth of knowledge and helped me book all my tours and made some great suggestions for vegan restaurants in the area. The craft beer that he sells onsite is the perfect way to celebrate returning from one of the volcano hikes. Cant say enough good things, value for dollar this was an incredible find!

Best place (and affordable) to stay when in Antigua! We stayed in a simple but cute room with shared bathroom. But the best about this place is their TERRACE, the delicious home-made breakfast on the terrace viewing the volcanoes, and the staff Rosa and Irving are so welcoming! Still dreaming about Maison Bougainvillea.

Amazing place, especially the staff is wonderful. Irving saved our visit to Guatemala after I booked the wrong dates. He is very helpful and friendly. Thanks again We stayed in a room with shared bathroom. The room is airy, clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom (toilet and shower are separate) is only shared with one other room and is always clean. The breakfast is very tasty and the view from the room terrace is amazing. All in all one of the best places we stayed during our travels!

Do not stay in room number 2. The ceiling is constantly chipping off and falling onto the bed. We would clean off the sheet, leave for 15 minutes, and when we returned it would be covered in particles from the ceiling. The management knows about this issue but they are still renting out the room. We left and did not stay the night but still had to pay for 1 of our 2 nights. UPDATE: Management responded that this is fixed, but they explicitly told us they knew about it and can not repair it until after high season is over. I would be very skeptical about staying here.

The people here are in it for the money. Selling tours to go in huge groups up the vulcano. Also they arranged transport for us to Atitlan, saying it would be 15 dollars. It became 20 dollars as soon as we were in the car, and in the end they only brought us halfway, asking for another 20 dollars.

Where to begin? Our host Irving was so so so helpful. Every single recommendation he gave was spot on. Every morning, Rosa makes you the most delicious breakfast ever (already miss it). The rooftop views are phenomenal (we even saw Fuego erupting one night). We got a room with a private bathroom. It was very clean and the room cozy. This is our go to place now for any trips to Antigua. While off the beaten track, it is a short and beautiful (also safe) walk into the center of town.

Everything was very clean and in good shape. The beds are comfy and the staff very helpful and friendly. I want to point out the nice location, which is in a quiet street a bit elevated so you have a great view from the rooftop over Antigua and all the surrounding volcanos. There also is a very nice patio. I would choose this place again.

A sketchy place with ugly rooms and a very sleazy owner. Don’t let the pictures fool you. I had to find a hotel for the same night, one nice person who worked there walked with me to find a cab and I am eternally grateful to her.

We had an amazing stay at Maison Bougainvillea this February. The owner Irving and his employee Rosa made us feel so much at home that we decided to come back at the end of our trip in Guatemala. The view from the terass is stunning, Rosas black bean breakfast tastes amazing! The most magical place in Antigua!
