This beautiful cathedral is a lot different… located at the hear of the city is a beautiful peaceful place to live your faith… it’s not meant for flashy pictures. It’s meant for deep knowledge and experience… Peace in the middle of a chaotic -positive chaotic- city! Not many tourists have the pleasure to enjoy it… Next to the National palace (now a museum) and the Mercado central… to purchase those nicely crafted souvenirs! GuateMaya! A place to visit!

Beautiful but needs painting and repairs. But of course they will ask people to donate money because the diocese has no money.

One of the most beautiful Cathedral's located in central metropolitan Guatemala City. Completed in 1871 and considered to officially be the main Cathedral of Guatemala City. It is located in Central Park near the Palacio Nacional de la Cultura and other historic landmarks. I had a good time walking around the park and taking pictures of the Cathedral's beautiful architecture.

Since it’s a holy place, let’s be honest and admit it is far more impressive outside than inside.

A beautiful Spanish style cathedral which has been immaculately maintained over the years. Occupies a major portion of a large square where locals typically hang out; worth a visit if in the area.

The Cathedral of Guatemala City is the Archdiocese of Guatemala. It is officially called the Holy Church Cathedral Metropolitan Basilica of Santiago de Guatemala. The construction of the building began in 1783. The cathedral is located in the Central Park Area. Visitors can come inside and enjoy its many places to sit, including the main church, a few chapels, and small individual areas dedicated to different saints/ historic events. The building has a number of works of art and religious carvings. A large marble alter with four large marble columns is located pass the main seating area. The architectural style of the building includes baroque and classical styles since the work on the cathedral continued during different times as part of the cathedral were gradually added. It suffered from both earthquakes in 2017 and 1976 and was reconstructed over time. Today this damage is hardly visible. The entrance is FREE and it is commonly well attended between masses. It is a nice visit which could take depending on how much time visitors are willing to spend and is highly recommended.

Beautiful cathedral! Very well preserved. The main square is clean, live music, lots of locals and street food. We visited the first week of this year in our trip around the country to visit the beautiful spots it has.🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹

Beautiful building with great stories, if you are religious this Catholic Cathedral is open for everyone and you can go with you family everyday or enjoy the special events they do every Sunday. Located in the Central Park of Guatemala helps it have a better look of the park. Inside you can fine a lot of religious paints and ceramics showing some of the important histories of the Catholic religion.

Beautiful. I didn't go inside but once you pass by, especially with the dramatic lights at night, you will be in awe. It puts the palace next to it to shame honestly lol
