👍👍 It’s 822AM and my flight departs at 945AM. I arrived and the first thing I did was to go do the COVID test. They charge Q250 and takes about 25 minutes to get the results. Remember that all this time I was walking around with my luggage. After I registered with my airline and they printed my flight... Omg! This airport needs serious repairs asap. No air conditioning. Fans ONLY and not in every area that is needed. Not enough lightning. Dark. Dirty floors and glass. Broken floors, ceilings, rusted trash cans, tape on rugs, repairs tools in the open which can be a hazard to many kids and adults. Broken electrical cables. One belt for security. Two persons to review the passport before security. Immigration had plenty staff and we didn’t have to wait much to pass, that was good. 🇬🇹 Guatemala is so beautiful and the airport looks so damaged, it is sad. So many tourists going in and so many locals going out it’s not fair! Someone has to do something about this… I will pray for this and hopefully my next trip will be a better experience in the airport.

Remember that all this time I was walking around with my luggage. After I registered with my airline and they printed my flight ticket. Charged my card $40. I’m traveling to the USA. Their restrooms were not illuminated. The sit were marked with protocol. Make sure to fill out your customs paperwork before getting there and have your ticket with passport ready. Since I am a US citizen all I am going to need is the negative covid test if they ask for it in Houston. I’m at gate 16 waiting. After landing the test is not requires in the USA for citizens, it was a Guatemala requirement only!

A tip for backpackers -If you are visiting Guatemala during the manifestation or demonstration, and you want to go to Antigua , everyone there in the airport will tell you, it’s impossible and I tell you the same if you have luggage ..what you can do is – if you have a backpack, you can hop on a motorbike using indrive application to San Lucas and then after San Lucas, you’ll have to walk two minutes to cross the manifestation. Take another motorbike to send to Antigua. This whole trip shouldn’t cost more than 250 -300 Quetzales In the airport, they tried to charge me around hundred dollars. After negotiation, it was down to 80$ , but still thought that is loads of money to 1 hour trip Cash is a king in this circumstances -and only local currency, not any foreign currency

Super impressed with this airport. Third visit to Guatemala and it's fantastic to see how they are improving every time I return. Very clean, easy to get through customs and security (especially since I since I only speak a tiny bit of Spanish), very clean bathrooms, great food choices, nice waiting spaces at the gates and very helpful staff. Once again, Guatemala has made another wonderful experience and I wish to return soon.

Nice and clean airport, getting into the airport was weird. There was one door open with one officer checking passports at the door which made the process slow. The rental cars are on the same property so easy to navigate to instead of having to get a shuttle there. Play area for kids and good authentic breakfast options were a great plus.

La Aurora is a very functional airport. We went through three times, each visit was pretty fast in terms of customs and security. For the bigger airlines you might have to come a bit early to ensure you have plenty of time to check in your bags. There are very good choices for food, from McDonalds to local choices. The numerous gift shops are priced in USD for international flights, and seem much more expensive compared to city center. There is plenty seating at the gates, as well as clean bathrooms.

Nice, modern, clean airport with many shops and restaurants. Coffee, drinks, meals, snacks, gifts, jewelry, and more. Plenty of restrooms and in good condition. Easy to navigate. Big glass windows overlooking the runway and city. The one negative was a lack of outlets to charge phones/devices near seating. Although I did find a few on the wall of the subway sandwich shop where you can sit, eat, and plug-in. 🔌

There are no water filling stations inside security. They have also not updated the charging station situation in comparison with other international airports. Apart from those two things, there are ample food and souvenir store options right past security. They mostly all have the same types of things, but the biggest one is beyond the Cafe Barista on the left (where the Duty Free stores start). There are a couple places for kids to play, but they were blocked off the day I was there. The airport also has a couple different bars to get your last taste of Ron Zacappa or quetzalteca (but I’m not sure you can fly with some of those). There is a whole Zacappa store to get “swag” and other last minute rum items. Before security (and when you land in Guatemala) they have started using a QR code system to do the customs claim form. This can take a while so if you can access the website before it will save time. When I was there they had one or two attendants helping, and a few desktop computers for people who couldn’t do the digital forms on their phones.

Do not fly with Spirit Airlines. The General manager here with Spirit Armando is the worst to provide you service. This guy once wanted to charge a prepaid carry on as a check in. I was with spirit customer service. And he was called on it. Customer service rep helped over his abuse. Most recent trip I had a priority boarding. I went to him and told me to towards end of line. My rating is towards the airline spirit and Armando Del Cid. General manager of spirit at Guatemala. He shortly cancelled my flight after I started taking few pics. He said I needed his permission but he had no privacy in public area at gate. At least security informed do that it was not a restricted area. Don't do business with spirit when travelling to or from Guatemala. This guy Armando Del Cid general manager of spirit doesn't represent the Guatemalan spirit. Guatemala has great people when it comes to service. Armando Del CID is not one of them and recommend Spirit Airlines replace him with someone that leans towards customer service. If you have priority boarding like zone 1. They should have honored it and not put you behind zone 3 or 4. Put your money on different airline. He actually took pictures and wondering if it's against Spirit airlines for it's employees to take picture of customers. I later booked with Jet Blue. I can say they had a much more pleasant experience. If you have choice go with Jet Blue. Much better seats. The people were also fine outside of spirit. Don't do business with Spirit at this airport. You have Avianca, Jet Blue, Aero Mexico. Spirit is the worst. If they are thieves and manipulate people. They should not be not operating in Guatemala. Stay away from Spirit Airlines. Unfortunately Armando del Cid is a theif that will steal your money. He doesn't like transparency. Any issues file a complaint directly with company and DOT if company fails to handle properly. Get some witness if you can because this guy lies.

Small and quiet airport, at least these covid days, with a surprisingly large duty free area where, what else?, Ron Zacapa seems to be the star. Going through security and migration was smooth without much hassle. Plenty of spacious and luminous seating areas.

No self check in (United airlines) no bags to check yet we have to wait in this ridiculous long line JUST FOR BOARDING PASSES! We already checked in online. Absolutely crazy! They need better protocols

This airport is very nice, clean, and friendly for tourist. I had a very positive experience with the airline staff at the Spirit check in counter. They were all very professional, especially the manager Armando, who was extremely helpful, polite and answered all my questions in a very professional manner. I saw him in action, guiding his staff and resolving issues and complaints from customers in a very efficient way. He is truly an asset for Spirit Airlines.

Pretty good but with some minor issues of security (easily go through with just about anything and lots of people sleeping in the lobby floors). It had a cute playground for the kids.

I was last here 10 years ago and there's been a massive improvement since. Whilst it's still a bit run down, there are now plenty of facilities (which there wern't when I first came here). Much better than other airports I've visited, and free wi-fi is now available for everyone - not just those with a Guatemalan phone number. If like me, you need a place to wait whilst waiting for someone to arrive on another flight, you have two options. Firstly, the food court in departures is upstairs above the check-in desks, before going through security. Theres a Subway, pizza store and a few other coffee shops. You need your passport to get into here. Secondly, in arrivals, as you come out of the airport, turn to your left and you'll find a visitor's area. There are three coffee shops (San Bernardino, Cafe 502 and Espresso Caffe). There's a few tables and chairs that you can sit at whilst waiting.

I haven't been here in years so I cannot post an updated review. All I can say is when I did come here this airport was beautiful and very clean. A lot of cool stores if you're looking for any souvenirs. They play live music (marimba) at some areas of the airport. And all the airport agents are very helpful when looking for a gate. Most of them speak both English and Spanish.

Flew TAG airlines from GUA to FRS (Flores). When landing in GUA it was very easy to find our way through the airport to immigration as they had it roped off the entire way. Once you get through immigration it was get a little confusing as all passengers enter through the “International Departures” area and then get separated into “National” and “International” after that. HIGHLY SUGGEST that before you go through security for National departures that you get food/drink if you want it as there is nothing after the National security area.

had a fly in my drink, ants running around on the table and she said “thats not my problem”—working at a restaurant requires one to care about the customer experience . I didn’t feel that here :(

Busy airport, very small. Don’t expect local employees to speak much English so be sure to learn as much Spanish as you can. I was stopped for frisk in security Ava again a random frisk and thorough bath search when boarding the plane. It’s a normal thing but twice in one day felt a bit much though I understand it was completely random and to keep everyone safe. Employees are friendly and professional.

Delta check in is slow and security/immigration lines are long. It it good to be at the airport 3h before your flight departs.

Be ready to spend some time without too much confort. There is plenty of small stores with souvenirs and you can even find some quick meals like a Starbucks and subway but not open 24/7. They have a small playground for kids, fun and save enough for a couple of hours for a minimum tiny payment or for buying some food on the near store.

One of the easiest airports to navigate through. Entry, immigration, customs and currency exchange was very easy. Everyone was super friendly. Airport had great air conditioning. Bathrooms were very clean.

For an airport in a smaller country, this one is pretty good. We had no real problems getting through customs and security. The best part though is the many souvenir stores. Quite a good selection and good prices!

Pretty decent airport. Not an extensive food selection outside of coffee places offering a few meals. Very nice kids play area.
