Walking around Guatemala City downtown on one of the main streets that take you directly to the main square, you can find this colorful church next to another beautiful building. 🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹

Beautiful but again needs repair and paint. The diocese needs to open up their coffers and restore the outside

Saint Francis Church is absolutely a must. It is larger than what I expected. There is no admission fee to visit the church. The church is managed by Franciscans but belongs to Archdiocese of Santiago de Guatemala. It welcomes all visitors. Masses are held daily and could also be attended. It fell into ruins after the earthquake in 1917 and was rebuilt around 1920s to be damaged again in another earthquake in 1976. The church blends two architectural styles, Neoclassical and Baroque. It’s grandiose building cannot go unnoticed and stands out from far away on the street; yet, its interior is it primary feature. The large and ornate wooden alter with intricate carvings is about 300 feet tall and 40 fee wide. When we were inside, it was very quiet as if the time became still. It is worth visiting and enjoying the majestic atmosphere inside.

An old church with a lot of story to tell. New painting since 2017. A New light system. And of course lot of spirituality in the air

Lots of old places that are great for people looking for snaping pictures or painting, area is safe as on the main street there are officers guarding until 11 pm. Great old architecture Back In the past, closed off road from motor Vehicles, laud tbh but that's not the reason you would not stay in the area as this is more for the artistic collector.
