This was such a beautiful church to visit. It was a stop part of my living tours, day tour in Douro. The place is so rich of history.

This was an old monastery. Placed near an old roman bridge. Wich makes it unique an a important place in all time history. No one feels indifferent after visit it. The views to the river are UNBELIEVABLE

The best church we've seen in Portugal, at least for the lovely town surrounding it

Der heiligen Gonzalo hat mit seinen Predigen bewirkt, dass alle Frauen im Ort einen Mann gefunden haben. Noch heute pilgern Leute an den Safophark des Priesters um Erfüllung und einen Man zu finden. Die Bäckereien des Ortes backen ein entsprechendes Gebäck in wicher und harter Ausführung 😀

An impressive manueline (baroque) 16th century church dedicated to Saint Gonçalo (1187-1259) a Dominican friar who played an important role in the development of Amarante. The city’s picturesque bridge over the Taméga River is attributed to the saint’s efforts.

A really nice church with museum and exposition. It has parking and nearby coffee shops in a nice village in the suburbs of Porto.

Looking at the Balcony on the left, the 4 Kings are actually Spanish Kings. Over the door, the middle of the 3 saints is San Gaocalo.
