Sri
Chandralamba
Parameswari
Temple
is
a
famous
Hindu
Temple
located
at
a
small
village,
Sannati
on
the
banks
of
River
Bhima.
The
presiding
deity
Sri
Lakshmi
Chandraparameswari,
affectionately
called
Chandamma,
is
Kuladeva,
the
family
deity,
for
many
Brahmin
families
of
Marathi
and
Kannada
origin.
They
are
spread
over
Andhra
Pradesh,
Tamilnadu
and
other
places
too
and
come
over
here
on
pilgrimage
to
offer
their
prayers.
This
place
is
very
close
to
the
railway
station
Nalwar
on
Chennai-Mumbai
rail
route.
(App
20
kms).
There
is
a
crude
road
leading
to
Sannati
from
Nalwar
which
is
used
by
autos
to
take
pilgrims.
Bus
service
is
also
there
but
it
is
rare.
You
can
share
auto
at
Rs
25/-
or
use
full
auto
for
Rs
300/-
Sannati
can
be
approached
from
Gulbarga
and
Yadgir
too
by
road.
The
Temple
is
very
beautiful
and
regular
pooja
is
being
done
by
priests
both
in
the
morning
and
evening.
One
can
pre-book
their
pooja
by
contacting
temple
authorities
over
by
phone
or
send
money.
Historically
the
place
is
very
old
and
dates
back
to
the
King
Asoka's
period.
Archaeological
Survey
of
India
has
found
many
coins,
stupas,
ornaments,
King
Asoka's
posture
with
queens,
belonging
to
his
period
with
Brahmi
inscriptions.
It's
said
that
the
Goddess
Chandralamba,
who
is
the
incarnation
of
Lakshmi,
came
to
the
banks
of
river
Bhima
to
save
her
devotee
Chandravadhani,
wife
of
a
rishi,
from
the
hands
of
evil
king
Setu
Raya.
She
destroyed
him
by
hurling
her
Paduka,
which
turned
into
five
bumblebees
which
drowned
him
in
the
river
Bhima.
Those
visiting
the
temple
and
stay
overnight
have
to
bear
certain
inconvenience
like
rooms,
hygiene,
irregular
power
supply
,
mosquitoes
menace
etc.
Alternatively
they
can
stay
at
Gulbarga
or
Yadgir
and
come
over
here
for
darshan
and
Prasad.
There
are
10
small
rooms
attached
to
temple
which
certainly
require
attention
when
we
visited
last.
There
are
no
lodges
or
hotels
and
you
have
to
take
meals
at
the
Temple.
But
we
go
all
the
way
to
Sannati
to
have
darshan
of
the
Devi
Chandrala
Parameswari
and
it
won't
matter
for
the
devotees.
It
is
learnt
that
the
temple
authorities
and
many
devotees
are
taking
steps
for
making
improvements.
The
divine
and
Serene
atmosphere
is
maintained
in
this
ancient
temple.
The
Temple
opens
around
6
a.m
in
the
morning.
Similarly
it
again
opens
by
5
p.m.
Aarthi,
Thottil
Pooja
are
in
the
evening.
You
can
offer
Green
Saree
to
the
Goddess
which
is
said
to
be
her
favourite.
You
are
sure
to
attain
peace
of
mind
after
Devi's
darshan
and
blessings.
Visit
with
family
to
get
blessings
and
favours.
