Unbedingt empfehlenswert!

Well, what an incredible transport museum. I wanted to visit in April 2020 but a global pandemic put pay to that. So I'm delighted I could visit this year. Speyer is a lovely place and having this extensive and well kept museum adds that little extra. I'm more of an aviation fan so the displays are very good. The 747 at its heart will be a rarer thing in future. I was slightly disappointed that the upper deck and cockpit were off limits but understandable. An unexpected highlight was the Museum Wilhelmsbau with its automatic musical organs. The automobile display is vast and all in amazing condition. Climbing into a U-boat wasn't something that I expected but was delightful. You need to be pretty agile though. I'm so glad I visited. It made my 2021.

Zudem sieht man viele Oldtimer Autos.

Awesome place for a day out (or in). Very well curated technical museum with tons of machinery to see and best of all interact with. The biggest machines are also accessible and you can climb inside and have a look: airplanes, a space shuttle, boat, submarine, trains. It's an endless list and definitely worth a full day visit. Great for kids too as they're allowed to touch and even have a giant slide from a top a Lufthansa airplane. Absolutely recommended!

Klasse Museum. Sehr empfehlenswert. Insgesamt 5 Sterne. Ich werde es gerne wieder besuchen.

(Translated by Google) A great place - not just for freaks. Bring your children and lots of time! Everything related to mobility is exhibited here, but also automatic musical instruments. Sufficient parking spaces are available. A great "playground" for big and small technology fans. Well-prepared documentation in German and English. Also visit the technology museum in Sinzheim, 30 minutes away!

A fascinating experience. The exhibits bring history back to reality again. Ample parking, with electric charging too. Canteen has a really great menu for the whole family. Activities for the kids keep them smiling whilst dads enjoy the exhibition. Ideal for a sunny day or a rainy day. Took us about 4 hours, including a wholesome, lunch to walk around and enjoy the day without reading and learning about every exhibit. If you have not yet seen an IMAX movie, add another hour to the day. IMAX is worth it.

A place I’d wanted to visit for a while and finally got the chance in September 2021. This is the sort of museum where you wonder how on earth they managed to curate such an incredible collection of machines. If you like cars, planes, trains, boats, submarines, space ships then you cannot go wrong here. The information provided alongside most of the items is also brilliant, but you’d need more than a day to read it all. Outside you can go inside submarines, boats and up the tower I to the 747 and even walk on its wing. Into the second hanger and you’ll go inside Russian space shuttle Buran. What’s more is when you’ve got through this museum, you’ve got the partner museum in Sinsheim to enjoy too! Overall I would happily recommend a visit to the Technic Museum in Speyer. (We also had a good lunch here too!)

Wonderful place, and very diverse. One could even visit a submarine - how great is this. I think it is a good place for the whole family. There is also a restaurant. Tip: if you would like to use the slide from the airplane down, don't forget to pick up a sliding mat on the way up since none are available up there. There were some spots where one could interact with the exhibition, and I found it pity that one had to pay extra. It would have been nice if the movies had at least English subtitles since we couldn't enjoy this part of the museum. The parking lot is also paid but it is quite cheap.

You have to visit it! Big AUTO park, trains, space block, ships and submarines, planes and helicopters... You will be exhausted if will try to see everything in one day. Be prepared to spend 4-8 hours, or visit it in 2-3 times, or pick block you most exited/interested. You can get inside of ships, one submarine and planes and helicopters. Recommended 300%, I was there for 3 times with difference in 2-3 years, all time there made me happy.

Fabulous place for a family trip. Fun and learning at the same time. The museum has got a huge collection of aircrafts, Automobiles. The space section is also great with lots of models and historical details about various space and moon missions. For me personally, the highlight was the robot at the gift shop that picks and delivers you the stuff you choose to buy. We also enjoyed the simulation vehicle at the entrance of the museum. There are washrooms in both the sections, that's a big plus being with kids. The cafeteria inside the premises is also very good. Pizza, coffee etc. are delicious and not too pricey. Must visit 👍

It a very good option to go and discover the evolution of technology! Maybe it’s more favorable if you take your kids with you or if you are an interested adults who enjoys technical knowledge! It has a lot of fields and areas: submarine’s, airplanes, trains, motorcycles and a lot of different aerospace stations and history! There is also the IMAX cinema it’s really beautiful experience but you just have to pay a little extra to get it! A very nice place to spend time and read some nice things regarding the history! Always check if there are any events planned before going because they have really nice exhibitions and events!

Amazing museum, they have everything. Entrance tickets costs 21 euro and parking is 5 euro. But it's totally worth the price because this place is big and has a lot to offer. Definitely go there if you can!

An amazing museum with loads of technology, with the possibility to enter (nearly) any aircraft, car, train and plane. Brace yourself if you've an issue with heights - going to look at the 747 and the Antonovs can be a small, but a challenge.

A most impressive technological museum. Really fun for adults and children. Didn’t stay for the iMax movie, but again the museum is so big and there are so many things to see and digest, that one day trip is not enough to see everything.

An amazing day out, so much to look at and it was fascinating. You could go inside loads of planes, including the 747 where you could even walk out onto the wing. Planes, helicopters, trains, submarines, cars, fire engines, motorbikes. Could spend days there. Highly recommended, and we chose to visit it over the other nearby Technik museum as this one is more focused on aviation.

Travel back in time and enjoy the details of every little piece of art. The museum is a piece of heaven for enthusiasts and soon-to-be enthusiast. Great variety of different exhibits. It takes on around 3-4 hours to see all the exhibits. Make sure to take a slide carpet before you walk upstairs to see the 747 ;)

Great place to visit and learn history. Amazing variety of technology: from autos to motorbikes, a special part dedicated to space and navy. Wonderful place to spend a day. The restaurant is medium, a bit overpriced. Unfortunately, with a paid parking space.

Good size museum if you like planes and cars and out of space. The IMAX we saw was in German so we didn't underhand a lick of it it was still pretty cool. If you ever wanted to stand on a planes wing a few stories up and wonder what your doing up there.. this is the place for you.

Very nice museum, together with its "brother" - the Sinsheim one. Focused more on air and sea, lots of planes and an interesting area dedicated to space and moon exploration. Recommended to try it when nice weather (can be windy and unpleasant when raining due to the metal railings)

Very well preserved museum, has an indoor and outdoor section. The indoor section is a huge hall with several exhibits such old steam engines, cars, motorcycles, fire engines and many other machines. The outside has a lot of unique pieces. A submarine, coast guard vessel, Antonov AN 22 cargo plane and a stripped down Being 747, which is perched high with a slight tilt. It will test your balancing skills for sure. They also have a separate section for space engineering, with a once live space shuttle for display and other interesting objects.

  • 5/5 Alucard a. 3 years ago on Google

Wow! What a great museum. My son loved checking out the planes, trains, boats and more! This place is huge and well organized. Employees are friendly. Most signage was bilingual (German/English) which was helpful. We also had lunch in the restaurant and found the food to be decent. The only downside is the cost. I found the entry fee to be a bit steep. Could be an expensive day trip.

A great museum to spend the day at if you love older vehicles from land, sea, and air in addition to activities that are fun for adults and kids alike. We enjoyed going up into some the aircraft and looking around the gutted insides and reading the various history tidbits for each device.

Not as good as in Sinsheim, but still perfect and worth visit. Unfortunately.... some exhibits were closed for no apparent reason. Some of them were closed only in the morning, not after lunch 🤔. It looks more like a mistake than a covid regulation. Pity..it would otherwise be 5 stars.

Superb day out with lots to explore. This museum has it all Space shuttles, Boeing 747s, fighter jets down to submarines allowing you to venture from the pilot seat to the engine bay. Great for children to experience that dream career they wanting up close and personal. Super shop inside for books, collectibles and licenced branded clothing. Don't normally write so much in a review but this museum is an exception. Visited on a week day= Not Busy👍 🚂🛻🚛🛺🛵🚜✈️🚁🚀🚒⛴️

One of the best transportation museums I've even been to. You can walk inside a space shuttle, 747, U boat, steam train and see hundreds of other motorcycles, cars, fire engines, even a carousel and organs. Highly recommend.

Very good museum. The collection of airplanes is impressive and at the moment there is also a very interesting NASA exhibit. I believe the region should invest more money as in average the exhibits starts being a little outdated. The initial era of aviation is well represented but newest vehicles are missing. With a little effort the second pavilion instead of being used for a casual collection of bikes could be used for prototypes and newest technologies. All in all however worth visiting, the 747 installation is really impressive and must see.

Loved visiting this museum! The vehicle displays are incredible, there is a vast amount of history here. It’s a great museum for anyone interested in transportation of all kinds, especially kids. ***TIP: Be sure to bring some change to make some of the displays work. One of the interactive displays involves climbing up a bunch of stairs in order to slide down a long slide….it’s a bunch of fun!

Great way to spend a day! There is so much history in one location. My only complaint is there is no history of the items there. It would be great to know about the history of the location as well. We first thought it was an old train hall but then came to find out it was a French air hanger. The Buran was impressive. Looking at all the cables and wiring and the payload area was impressive

Fabulous museum. Scary trip up to 747 perched up in the air on top of a building. A bit too high up for me so I went to Viscount plane instead. Still weird to be walking through a plane perched at an angle. Rest of museum very impressive. Unfortunately I couldn't appreciate it fully as was only in Speyer for a couple of hours - needs a full day to get round all the exhibits..

Awesome museum full of mankind's engineering achievements for transportation. Many of the exhibits are not even roped off, so you can walk right up to them for a close look.

Tons to see and touch!! Great museum where you can explore different aircraft and boats. Ride a couple rides, go down a slide and grab lunch. The space museum was my favorite where you can get up close to a space shuttle.

Very interesting and great value for money. The exhibits are amazing and well laid out and maintained. We could only manage half a day but could have done with more time. Great for children as well!

The museum is amazing. Kinds under 4yo are don't pay entrance. There's parking lot but it costs 5€. To see some attractions working you must pay for it. The IMAX is amazing although the scanners don't work properly. Gift shop has not so much to choose. Exposed pieces are scarced although amazing. Restaurant is ok although more food might be required.

Awesome museum with numerous displays outside, as well as in multiple hangers and buildings. We spent about 2-3 hours enjoying the museum and then purchased several neat items in their Giftshop!

Great place for kids but also technically interested people in general. Not that cheap for entry fee, but totally worth it. Can easily spend up to 5 hours in there and you can come back multiple times, as there is plenty of information to read.

We really had an awesome time at this museum. If you're coming in on the Rhine River you don't really need a guide at all just a map. The place is less than a quarter mile from the port and easily found using Google maps. I had to wait in line behind a bunch of 6-year-olds in order to get my photo and video inside the fire truck but it was well worth the wait :-) We were there for a couple of hours and still did not get to see everything. This place has got a lot of things that are very interesting and the details are listed in English as well as German. Self-guided tour is less than $10 per person!!

You need atleast 4 hours to see overview of all and a day for going into details. I visited in evening but couldn’t get much time. Must to see things: Submarine, Buran space shuttle and Apollo rovers. Have fun!

Wow. Really cool place. Especially for avgeeks like me, this is not just a museum. It is definitely one of the best museums I’ve been to. Really many interesting things, not only about planes but also submarines and cars and other stuff.

I also visited their sister museum in Sinsheim. Speyer had a great space exhibit and really good aircraft, submarines etch. You name it, it's probably here. I'll definitely visit again.
