Peaceful | Part of History | Enriching. Gandhi Smriti is one of the few hidden gems in Delhi. Has great artifacts based on Gandhi's life and his messages. I went there quite a few times. Even if you are not aware of the Gandhi's life and his part in making us independent, then also this place is a must visit. Among the constant chaos and noise in Delhi, this place will bring peace and enrichment in you.

I recently visited this place these are my following observations: 1. The place is pretty well maintained. Grasses are lush green as well as neat and clean. 2. I came here to attend an event of "Dilli Durbar", I thoroughly enjoyed the event. 3. They have multiple statues which are quite aesthetic. 4. Multiple events are organised here from time to time and you can visit this place for normal visits as well. 5. The nearest metro station for this place is Delhi Gate, it's hardly 500 m from the station.

Get to know more about the father of the Indian nation. The museum and grounds are kept in meticulous order and there is much to see and learn about this truly amazing man. There are also interactive display that showcase his vision and present a tour of his life.

    1. Sir Syed preserved the antiquities and other archaeological objects like sculptures, carved stone pieces, doorjambs and concrete panels at Scientific Society Institute presently known as Dawakhana Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College. The Sir Syed Collections in the museum consist of all his findings. The sculptures preserved in the collection date from 1st century A.D. to 11thcentury A.D. 2. Explored Collections: This section is divided into (i)  Acheulian tools and (ii) Stone Sculptures and Terracotta Figurines. a. Acheulian tools: The Palaeolithic (Acheulian) tools collection consist of Handaxes, Picks, Cleavers, Scrapers, Flakes, Choppers, Discoids and Nodules. b. Stone Sculptures and Terracotta figurines: These artefacts werecollected from the area of Western Uttar Pradesh namely Aligarh, Etah, Farrukhabad, Meerut, Mooradabad, Hathras, Muzaffarnagar and Bulandshahr etc. by the archaeologists of the department of History like Prof. R.C. Medieval artefects excavated from Fatehpursikri are also preserved in the Museum which consists of Glazed ware, Terracotta animal figurines, Chinese pottery etc. The Botanical collection include male Cone of Cycas, Rumphil, Female Cone of Cedrus Deodara, Impression fossil, Impression of Fern Foliage, Female of Picea, Carboniferous (350-255 million years ago)etc. The Zoological collection include Frog Alizarin, Rabbit embryo, Hippocampus, Snake skull, Fossil corals, Fossil worms, Fossil crinoids, Fossil sponges and Fossil mammals etc. The Geological collection consist of  Retort, Stromatolite, corals, Barack Granite, Ripple marks, Apophyllite, Dinosaurmolar, Calcite, Cavansite, Barite and Orthoclase, Nepheline Syenite etc.

Very busy during the week I think we went in on our way back to our hotel. It is very important you go into the museum and read all about Gandhi too it gives all the information about his long life and his terrible death. So sad we have always heard about him but was lovely to sit in the gardens where he walked and sat. Truly a wonderful man. 🙏🙏😎😎💖💖

Gandhi smriti is the place where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life and was assassinated on 30 January 1948. It was originally the house of the Birla family, Indian business tycoons. It is now home to the Eternal Gandhi Multimedia Museum, which was established in 2005. The museum is open every day except Mondays and national holidays. Entry is free for all. And there will be volunteers who will show you the entire place and explains you about each and every part. They stay very friendly and they look like true followers of Gandhi.

One of the most beautiful, evergreen, gorgeous place that i have visited in delhi is this Museum of Sir Mahatma Gandhi ji. I just visited just because my auto driver took me here, but then inside i saw the places which i have never even imagined in my entire life. I saw the place where Mahatma Gandhi ji walked lastly in his life. Inside the house you can see his Pens,Rooms,His Specs, dress, the Handwriting of Gandhiji via Digital Museum. The Garden will steal your heart for sure ❤. Wherever u turn u can see trees plants and only greenish environment. Eventhough it was 46deg around 1pm it just felt like 20deg weather inside the garden. Then u can see the books used by him,

Interactive experience but leaves room for more storytelling. It’s a beautiful place which feels calm and peaceful, and the place where he was shot is a chilling reminder of the fact that Gandhi’s life touched millions - and in deeply contrasting ways.

Visit the place if you want to know about Mahatma Gandhi (fondly called as Bapu). His life history in pictorial and movie formats add to the liveliness of the place. Also, the preserved places where he used to hold meetings, prayers, and the place of his sad assassination take one back to the era of struggle for our freedom. A must visit for anyone coming to Delhi. Cleanliness just adds to the beauty of the place.

There are few monkeys playing around in the garden but they are harmless. Covid precautions care well taken. The digital room was closed due to covid though.

Worth visiting place. It is open now and there is no entry fee. There are guides inside who will give you directions and explain everything there. Many things are interesting and digital. They will show you the animated film of how Gandhi was assassinated by Nathu Ram Godse. There is the bed of Mahatma Gandhi and detailed writing of how Gandhi spent his last 48 hours, what are their visions and thoughts and all. It will be closed on Monday. Recording is prohibited there but photos are allowed. Don't miss this place if you are in Delhi. There are many more attractions nearby.

Museum set up to honour Mahatma Gandhi at his final residence. His final walk to his assassination has been created on a footpath. His living quarters have been restored to as is, at the time of his death. The Museum also contains a number of information boards which document his life and major events. Entry cost is low and not many crowds. Open most days except religious holidays. Located on Tees January Marg, it is a museum dedicated to Gandhi ji who spent the last 144 days of his life here till his assassination on 30th January, 1948. The entire complex is well maintained.

Gandhi Smriti is situated in front of National Defence College on tees January road. It is the museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. Earlier it was known as Birla house or Birla bhavan. It is the location where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life and was assassinated on 30 January 1948. The museum contains number of articles associated with Mahatma Gandhi's life and death. This building was originally made by Ghanshyamdas in 1928 consisting of 12 bedrooms. Formerly known as Birla house it was sold to the government. And when it was opened to public it was renamed as Gandhi Smriti . The museum also displays large number of paintings, sculptures ,photographs and inscriptions on rocks which pertains to Mahatma Gandhi and also his belongings including his walking stick, glasses ,some cutlery and the wooden desk with Bhagwat Gita on it. The museum also depicts a large statue of Mahatma Gandhi with a girl and a boy holding a dove in their hands on either side symbolising Gandhi's life long teachings of peace and non-violence. The statue welcomes visitors to the main entrance. The memorial is divided into multiple divisions. Visitors today have access to the tours of the memorial where they can learn about the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. It is well connected by transport and easily accessible, worth a visit for history lovers . It is a beautiful monument to be visited.

Definitely worth visiting, the site is both a museum contained in the house where he was staying when assassinated and a shrine marking the place where he was murdered. The museum presents lots of photographs and written information about his life and activism in both South Africa and India.

This is in a quiet area of Delhi and is a fitting tribute to the great man. There's plenty of information on him and his life and it is well maintained. Can't remember the price unfortunately, but it was not expensive and well worth the money. My 12 year old had studied Gandhi in school this year and found it very interesting too.

This is a remarkable place to visit. Understanding how Gandhi spent the last days of his life and the circumstances that led to his assassination is truly eye-opening. This is not an "Art Museum" as the original description says. Instead, it is a collection of historical artifacts that surrounded this remarkable (albeit imperfect) man, hosted in the place where he spent his last days. Those artifacts allow the visitor to see how Gandhi lived and how he galvanized people to face the British Empire. The site opens a window into a time of violent strife, peaceful resistance, and great achievements.

It has the marked path which gandhiji took for the last time, his personal effects like glasses, his living quarters, etc. There are a number of posters and photos from important events in gandhijis life, a doll exhibition. There is also a small shop for khadi products. Admission is free. A must visit for those interested in the father of the nation.

A museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, this is the site where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life and was assassinated on 30th January 1948. The 12-bedroom house was built in 1928 by Ghanshyamdas Birla. Sardar Patel and Mahatma Gandhi were frequent guests of the Birlas. They sold this house to the government and when the House was opened to the public, it was renamed as Gandhi Smriti. The museum in the building houses a number of articles associated with Gandhi's life and death. Visitors can tour the building and grounds, viewing the preserved room where Gandhi lived and the place on the grounds where he was shot while holding his nightly public walk. Gandhi was shot during his prayers at the place where Martyr's Column now stands. Outside the house stands a pillar that contains a swastika symbol. The prominence of the pillar means that it has been used as a visual example of the way the ethical meaning of the swastika symbol had changed in the West in the 20th century. A large collection of photographs with a few personal belongings and a series of small doll houses and terracotta dolls illustrating Gandhiji's life are the attractions at this museum. The preserves include the room where Mahatma Gandhi lived and the prayer ground where he held a mass congregation every evening. It was here that the assassin’s bullets felled Gandhiji. The building and the landscape have been preserved as they had been in those days.

Only 17 people came here on the weekend we visited. Thought that's a shame it also provided a different experience from other jam packed tourist spots in Delhi. We are able to read and observe all the exhibits in peace at our leisure. The museum contains detailed history and memorabilia about Subhash Chandra Bose and the INA. Don't miss the historical paintings in another building on the campus. With the green line extension of Delhi metro, this museum is now a short walking distance from Tikri Kalan metro station, hence it's a must visit now.

The history itself tell a lot of things about Gandhi ji but if you want know him from close and interesting in knowing a lot of things about him then go for it. You would be able to see and touch the place wall. Even it can make you a bit emotional so, don't forget to carry tissue paper.(just kidding) We still remember him for his contribution to the nation. Not only Gandhi ji every freedom fighters who fight for the nation. When I was in 9 standard I visited first time. The experience was nice but yes few of the caretakers were too friendly. I mean they would help you in everything even this is not their task. We even talk to the some of the foreigners. They were too friendly. A great place to visit with your family. Do not worry about your child they would even enjoy seeing the museum. You could tell them about the contribution of the Gandhi ji and other freedom fighters. As it is our responsibility to pass on the information to one generation to second, second to third. Food are costly so, please carry food and water bottles along with you. Otherwise you will end up giving 160 rupees for single plate food Even the vendors charge a lot for water bottles. Do not worry about water as water would be provided free of cost inside the museum. You could purchase clothes and books too for memories.

You get to see Mahatma's room, his belongings, and information on him in the museum here. Plus there is a shop selling khadi merchandise. You would need one and half hour to experience all this. Quite frankly an experience you should not miss

Gandhi Smriti, formerly known as Birla House or Birla Bhavan, is a museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, situated on Tees January Road, formerly Albuquerque Road, in New Delhi, India. It is the location where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life and was assassinated on 30 January 1948. It was originally the house of the Birla family, Indian business tycoons. It is now home to the Eternal Gandhi Multimedia Museum, which was established in 2005. Gandhi Smriti (former Birla House), New Delhi, India The museum is open every day except Mondays and national holidays. Entry is free for all. The 12-bedroom house was built in 1928 by Ghanshyamdas Birla. Sardar Patel and Mahatma Gandhi were frequent guests of the Birlas. During his final stay, Mahatma Gandhi stayed here from 9 September 1947 to 30 January 1948 when he was assassinated. Jawaharlal Nehru wrote to Ghanshyamdas Birla seeking to turn part of the Birla House in to a memorial. Ghanshyamdas was rather reluctant to give up the house with associated memories. The Birla House was purchased from KK Birla, in 1971, by the Government of India, after protracted and tough negotiations, in which, according to some reports, he even included the cost of fruit trees in the sale price. Eventually KK Birla, sold the property to the Government for Rs 5.4 million and seven acres of urban land in exchange, which was considered a very profitable deal. Birla House opened for the public on 15 August 1973, renamed the Gandhi Smriti (or Gandhi Remembrance). The Martyr's Column now marks the place where Gandhi, the "Father of the Nation" was assassinated. The Gandhi Smriti or Birla House is located at 5 Tees January Marg, a couple of kilometres from the Connaught Place, one of the Central Business District's of New Delhi. Outside the house stands a pillar that contains a swastika symbol. The prominence of the pillar means that it has been used as a visual example of the way the ethical meaning of the swastika symbol has changed in the West in the 20th century.[dubious – discuss] The same pillar also contains the Sanskrit symbol for the meditation sound, Om.

Do visit and take a trip through the life of Gandhiji. This is the place where he spent the last 144 days of his life and was shot dead in this complex. This Complex was formerly known as Birla House and now as Gandhi Smriti Bhavan. You will see here the door through which he left for the prayer hall for the last time, the exact place where he was shot, his used items, his charkha, and all. Wander around remembering those vivid memories of reading those facts related to Gandhiji and seeing them in real.

I have visited this place earlier. This time, they have invested a lot into something called multimedia, but it seemed like a lot of money wasted. I believe the money could be better used to get the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi to better connect with the visitors. It is a pleasure to visit and pay respects to the last place where Mahatma Gandhi lived in his last few days.

This is a superb and touch tribute to one of histories most influential (for the good) characters. A personal hero for so many of us, this beautifully preserved and presented residence is a must see for any visitor to Delhi. I particularly liked the dioramas illustrating key moments in the great man's life and the many of his timeless quotations evidencing his genius and great humanity. If you are to read all the material presented, you will need a whole day without distractions. You may well leave as a better person.
