I’ve been going to Medical Eye for over 30 years. I’ve only curtailed my visits since Dr. Green has been my appointment doc. Dr. Thompson and Dr Greenberg are amazing. I was able to save myself pain because of good medical consultation from either of those great ladies. If you have any complex but common issues Dr. Green does not answer them. I got a one-word diagnosis stemming from potentially five different issues. GovernmentI’ve known people who worked in office several years ago and he is a constant recheck, It was chronic then & I suspect still going on, as he pulled (or pulls) constant “front office staff retraining ” The technician took more time with me 10 mins than 90secs Dr. Green, 3rd visit with him, done with him. I say avoid him. I find him dangerous to my vision health. In general any other impact structures that affect vision wellness is not addressed by Dr Green. Drs. Greenberg and Thompson do address issues and it’s not needing a return visit within a 5 day work week for still having issues real pain, acuity issues not addressed at his visit.

We came to the office 30 minutes before our actual appointment time. 45 minutes later we met with the doctor. The staff was OK, nothing extraordinary. We needed to get a second opinion having some concerns. I would trust the doctor's expertise though. The visit was $250! We expected to get a little bit more. Our regular optician ran exactly the same tests and I didn't find this medical office any different from her. The cost of the visit was three times more expensive. They didn't take our primary insurance, they don't except eye insurance either. They could not provide me with the bill. It was very strange for the medical office not to have this service. My payment card didn't work at that time and they would not let me go without any payment. It was frustrating. My little kid was crying in the waiting area being tired but nobody cared. I really got nervous about it. Nobody called me the next day, they promised to send me a bill but never did. However, my card was charged a few days later, co-pay that was not supposed to be. Overall it was unpleasant experience. The doctor was good and patient. The rest of my experience really lowered the ratings .

I have been seeing Dr. Thompson for many years, as I have a set of complex issues. She's always been incredibly kind and friendly. The front desk ladies are always pleasant when I call or am in. I called today to make my follow up and was informed she is no longer seeing adults. The woman I spoke with was very apologetic and gave me several options. Dr. Thompson's adult patients should have been informed of her switch- to me it's the equivalent of a dr leaving a practice. You notify your patients. Period. I now have to wait to get in as a "new patient" with another provider. I have not experienced any of the billing problems that others have had.

Be mindful about your bill. They asked me to pay $x right after the service with an intent to refund me any difference once my insurance process the claim. Six months after the service, I haven’t heard anything from them, no bills no calls no nothing. I called my insurance and told me the amount I should pay the clinic as my out of pocket. I realized that I overpaid them and I should receive a refund. I called the clinic to check my account and asked why I haven’t received any bill. They told me because I don’t have outstanding balance to pay but a credit. I asked why they haven’t sent me my refund? They said they will process it now. If I did not check, they would have kept my money. So be careful if you still prefer to go to this clinic.

Dr Green and his assistant are professional, pleasant, do not make small talk, and direct with diagnosis and treatment instructions. The women at reception and billing are average - not mean or rude, just monotonously doing their job. Nothing special stands out in their attitudes or service, a smile or laugh - never, and you can feel that it’s not a happy place to work and the employees don’t appear to like each other. This creates a tense and uncomfortable vibe . If you are uninsured BE AWARE AND ADVISED that even though their website says they offer payment plans, they actually don’t. I was told my appointment would be $75-$165 and of course I was hoping for the low end of that scale. The initial appointment cost $165 which included a 10% discount. I needed eyedrops - $66 at Walgreens, and a follow up appointment in one week. I a spent about 15 minutes total from the time I entered the building to the time that I left the building, including two minutes with the doctor and two minutes with a nurse. Dr. spent roughly 30 seconds looking into my eye using a machine and completely solved my problem. My mistake was that I didn’t ask how much the follow-up appointment would be. I expected it to be low cost and considerably less than the initial visit. At the very least, I thought it would be on the low end of the $75-$165 scale. The bill was MORE than the initial visit. $172 and no mention of the 10% discount for out of pocket customers I feel that $400 in one week is unreasonable for an uninsured, out of pocket REPEAT PATIENT WITH THE SAME ISSUE that spent a total of 30 minutes at 2 separate appointments. The building, furniture, and equipment seem to be pretty old, I mean America’s Best has way newer stuff than this place. I have not been here for glasses or contact lenses or any other eye related issues or yearly exams, so I cannot comment on that part of the practice. If I need an ophthalmologist in the future, especially for the same issue and I don’t have insurance, I will be looking into other ophthalmologists that are more cost effective, have reasonable, accurate and honest cost scales, or a payment plan. A friendlier, happier and more modern atmosphere would also be awesome, IMO. One good thing that I can say about this place is that if you have an emergency they will get you in quickly.

Medical Eye Services. NOT happy with them right now. I have had my 3 year old's eye appointment for over a year now and medical eye services (yearly follow up) and they sent me a postcard saying they had to cancel his appointment and to call to reschedule. So I did and she (Grace at the Lake Forest location) said it's because the doctor will be in surgery that day and they are booked into the new year (it is now August asvI write this). I was so mad I told them I'll find somewhere where we are valued as patients and customers.

I would NEVER go to this place again!!! I was referred to go here and I can't say one good thing about my experience. The doctor rushed through my exam, didn't explain anything (I was very interested in Lasik and he just said no and didn't explain why?) When I paid my bill they charged me extra to have an exam to see if I needed glasses (duh, I already had them and obviously needed them) and then when I ordered my new glasses the experience got worse. They completely did my order wrong (I wanted my lens to be all one bifocal and wanted the computer deflective lens) and got a progressive lens without the protective computer lens. Then the lady who worked there argued that this was what I ordered. They did correct that mistake and when I returned to pick up the new glasses, the same lady again (where I couldn't see her but could hear her) complained that I was the guy who screwed up my order and blamed them) and once I thought I would get used to the glasses, I realized they were worse than the pair I had before. I couldn't see and now I am using the old pair I had before I came here. $500 well wasted!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!! BTW I would have given zero stars but Google made me give a star to post.

I wish I would have read the reviews before I went to this place. The staff somehow created 2 accounts for me and when I called because they sent me a bill after I had just paid my account in full, they told me to ignore the bill. Now I get a letter saying I was sent to collections. I called and the staff argued with me, I asked to speak to the manager and she argued with me too, I don't think she was the manager because she also has terrible customer service. I asked to speak to the person above her and she said that would be the doctor and she doubts the doctor will call me back. That's great. The whole staff needs to be replaced.

Do not take your children to this office. They are extremely unprofessional. They lost my daughter's referral and provided terrible service.

No issues so far. Dr Greenberg takes her time to talk to you and address your concerns accordingly.

Many negative reviews posted. My experience was just the opposite of the poor reviews. I had an appointment recently and I had a good experience at Medical Eye Services, Gurnee. My experience from the beginning with getting a short notice appointment with Grace to checking in, the office staff was friendly and helpful, waiting not to long to be called in the room and shortly thereafter seeing Dr Green. My entire experience was great. No complaints!

Had an appointment today as well as my spouse. In and out in nothing flat and taken care of by amazing staff, and Dr Greenberg is outstanding. She answers all my questions and never rushes. We have been going here for decades. Highly recommend them.

Dr. Green is very professional and asks if you have had any problems, which I did not. The staff was very accommodating with watching so I would not need a new referral for my next appointment.
