Coming from out of town, seeing the high reviews was really promising and exciting for me to try. When I got there I was met with - workers who don’t have proper manners when dealing with customers - food that had a distinct smell and didn’t taste too great Flash forward the next day, I’m down with a severe stomach pain and ended throwing up as well. Mind you I barely have stomach poisoning issues so there definitely was something off about the chicken as it smelled bad. My wife recognized it as well. I’d definitely not recommend you go here

Absolutely speechless!! Shawarma King is AMAZING. I ordered the Mixed Grill Meal and my mother had the Chicken Shawarma Meal. The food came out fast and it was delicious. The rice was flavorful and all the meats in the mixed grill meal were seasoned and cooked to perfection. My mothers meal was absolutely delicious as well. The portions were generous and filling. We ordered some falafel as well and it was tasty and fresh, definitely recommend the garlic sauce to dip them in. After we finished our food the owner Haroon came out and talked to us. He was very warm and even gave us a complimentary lamp chop to try and It was fabulous!!! We ended the night with some baklava and it was sweet, rich, and flaky. I can not give this place a better rating. 100/10 i couldnt recommend it more. Thank you :)

First time trying this place and I decided to order the Beef and Chicken Kabob plate with Falafels. I do NOT regret my purchase! 10/10

I did an order to go. The portions were large and the food was very good. The rice was very good and flavorful, where it's bland at many restaurants. I'd be happy to visit this establishment again.

Fries: A little soggy Not browned However tasty still Garlic sauce: Very tasty if you love garlic Super Creamy Good amount for 50 cents Didn't realize the combos came with garlic sauce so I bought 2 extra which ended up convenient since it's so good. Falafel: Super crunchy Seasoned right, probably one of my top Falafels Not dry interior despite the crunchy outside Crumbles a but when you eat it so beware if you eat in the car. Kifta kebab wrap: First thing I notice visually is pickle, which looks nice but I don't care much for pickles. If it's on it I'll have it cause that's how it was intended to be by the creator of it. The pickle is pleasant in this, it cuts through some of the other flavors to make a balance Also unexpected from the cross section was the pickled onions(?) The meat is well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The hummus inside is adequate moisture for the wrap in addition to the pickle. The wrap itself is a little nothing on one side in terms of consistency and a little chewy on the otherside which was nicer. I kinda wish it was chewy on both sides to be honest but just might be how it was cut. Overall pretty good just unexpected which could be my fault for going into it blind.

The food is absolutely outstanding! So fresh, flavorful, and simply delicious! It's worth the price! The only thing I would suggest is giving the sauces (garlic, tahini, etc) with each meal. I always have to ask for it. Great service, very clean restaurant, and excellent food!

This place is phenomenal, very traditional shawarma. All the food is well seasoned, comes out quick. Always get the garlic sauce, their drinks are very tasty as well. Not to mention one of the best fries you can snag up, salty Crispy and buttery.

This place is fantastic. Best middle eastern food in the area. The kabobs and shawarma are great. The owner is awesome, our first time there he came to the table and brought us samples of the food. Everything we have had is so delicious. This is one of our local favorites.

Everyone should try this place. Do some research if you are not familiar with the food and it will be exactly what you are expecting. My husband and I were blown away by the food. Everything was so flavorful and seasoned perfectly! We can’t wait to go back!!

The absolute best shawarma and food I’ve had since I’ve left Egypt! It seriously reminds me of my favorite childhood. This place is super authentic and very delicious, and very very cheap! The owner was very kind and very welcoming and gave us tons of tips on sightseeing in the area. We were in town visiting from Minnesota for a soccer tournament and we will definitely be back before hitting the road! Can’t emphasize how great this place is in terms of quality, taste, and customer service!

To my surprise, they put one of the best garlic sauce I have not seen for a while. Awesome authentic middle eastern food! This hit the spot for me. This food is the real deal, both for somebody who is used to food like it is made back in the middle east, and it is also not greasy and has a clean taste, telling about the ingredients that they use. Even my family members that are less used to Middle Eastern food really enjoyed it. A must try if you haven't! We will surely be back when we are in town.

Busy place. Food tastes great. Owner always sounds busy and in a rush but still tries to keep a good attitude. A little too small for dining in. Don't order food on Uber Eat it's crazily more expensive than ordering in store.

I love this place! The Jerusalem-style shawarma spices are outstanding. My fav meal is the mixed shawarma (chicken and beef) for $15.49 (huge meal). Staff is helpful and kind. Very clean and pleasant decor/music, outdoor seating and complimentary tea/water with your meal. Their hot sauce is excellent as well. Very close to Six Flags Great America park. 🇺🇸

I got the mixed grill, my wife chicken shawarma meal and my daughter beef shawarma wrap meal. Everything was made to order and delicious. You will have to wait 10-15 minutes for the food since they prepare it fresh but it’s totally worth it. Baklava was really good, fresh and crispy

Shawarma King truly delivers outstanding Middle Eastern cuisine, right in the middle of Gurnee. Last week I enjoyed the chicken kabob dinner. It was nothing less than incredible. The chicken was grilled perfectly, seasoned just right with the appropriate kick, and tender and juicy inside. The sides of rice, salad, and hummus all were delicious in their own right and terrifically complimented the chicken. As a repeat and consistently pleased customer, I’m delighted to give this local establishment a five star review and my earnest recommendation. Great job Shawarma King!
