Overpriced, low-quality food. We went here yesterday and ordered burritos. There was a ton of salt in them - I wonder if the cook was angry. We told our waitress and she changed them and this time there was much less meat in them. Prices are higher than expected and next time, we shall just go to a chain Mexican restaurant. Also there is no way to send them feedback. *Update:* The owner has posted a reply below and he claims, "The salt content of the meat was checked and it was very mild". At the restaurant, they themselves acknowledged it was too salty. The owner is actually calling us liars!!

Called and ordered 3 chicken tacos with double rice. I asked how big the horchata cup was she said she didn’t know. I said when I come in I’ll look. I came in and Estella is very rude and disrespectful. Went to my car and ate two tacos almost chocked on a wire piece that you see in the picture in top of the sour cream. we called back asked for a refined and I spoke with the cashier. I asked for her name and she said you don’t need my name the manager Jose will be here tomorrow and can give you a refund. She said she couldn’t give the refund because her drawer would be short. She said you can come back now and I can give you move food. I said no I wanted a refund. Update: The auto response says sorry it didn’t work out for you . Some response from the owner. Anyway, I go back for a refund at 736 and Estella said I’m only giving you a refund for the tacos. I get there and show her my food and she said the piece is from the dishwasher. Regardless she was still rude but gave me a refund and told me over the phone that I had to wait in the morning.

My first time at Tacos El Norte turned out to be very nice. I ordered the combination of taco, Chile Renos, enchiladas with beans and rice, for about fourteen dollar. Each item was well prepared and delicious. This is a large dining room with and separate dining room for privacy. I’ll have to return with more people to enjoy more variety. It’s design is typical Mexican pictures and artifacts. It is comfortable. Before you leave here tap the thumbs up 👍 down below 👇

It was a good authentic Mexican restaurant. I forgot what region they cover but it was tasty. I was in the mood for tacos but at the same time didn't want to go to an expensive place for tacos and not get much for how much I spent. I have been here before back and early 2000 when I used to attend University of Phoenix with some classmates living up here. It's family owned and they have other locations but this is the one I remember. Reason why 3 out of 5 stars is because despite the food was good and I felt I got the wrong order for tacos. I wanted one beef tongue and one sirloin tacos but then wanted an extra Taco but it was sirloin and ended up being the beef tongue which was incorrect. Nevertheless it was delicious but I really wanted the sirloin Taco extra. Just really tell the staff for server what you want otherwise they're going to assume wrong. I would still come back but I'll probably go for their fajitas. the tacos was good too just really emphasized to the servers what you want despite poor understanding

Finally got to check out Tacos El Notte Gurnee. I personally have to say I like this one more compared to the lake bluff one. So, let me get into it! The food was definitely much different than the lake bluff one. The menu was much better and had more options for sure. I got the taco bowl and I have to say it was really worth it! I felt satisfied and full after eating it! My co work got the 3 taco dinner and he pointed out that has tortillas were dry and hard. The service was good. Our waitress checked in with us often which I liked! The atmosphere really reminded me of restaurants that I visited when I was in Mexico! I really loved the decor! Overall, I would say check TENG if you want to try a very good menu!

Tacos el Norte has really improved!! During Covid, the orders were messy and gloppy, but now, wow! It’s delicious, well put together, quickly delivered, and seems to be back to the place we knew we could get delicious tacos and specials from!

As a local real estate professional, I know the importance of a good review. This is why I intentionally take time to give credit when it's due. My family has been going to this restaurant for multiple years now. The service is always prompt and friendly. The menu has something for everyone. You cannot go wrong. I highly recommend this familyfriendly restaurant. Disclaimer, I'm not affiliated with the restaurant or anyone who works there. I'm just a satisfied customer who supports great local businesses.

Where to start?! The best part? Everything! The waitress was beyond awesome. Super friendly and chatted with us about our trip. She was attentive and served us very well. We ordered carne asada gorditas, tacos de carne asada and a torta and it was all delicious! We also ordered an agua de jamaica, pineapple and horchata drinks. The salsas were amazing by the way! The worst part? Nothing. We are planning on coming here again! They also have an outdoor area. We came back! I highly recommend the specials. You get SO much food for an amazing price. Our waitress was just as amazing as the first one we had and we had such a great time here…again!

Every meal I've had here has been great. You can even get a breakfast burrito for dinner! The food comes fast and hot. Sometimes we delay ordering so we can enjoy the chips and margaritas a little longer before our meals come. The hostess and wait staff are always fun and helpful. It's always clean here as well. The meals are large and we always need to go boxes. The menu is huge with choices for vegetarians as well. You can't go wrong here.

This place is absolutely awesome! Me and my dad were done taking a shopping trip at gurnee mills, which is 5 minutes away from here, and decided to stop by! It did take a while for servers to notice us, but that was completely fine, I ordered a torta de milanesa (breaded steak torta) and it tasted wonderful. This place was overall great, and if you are craving authentic Mexican food nearby Gurnee Mills or even Six Flags, coming here is a must! :)

Consistently excellent! Group of 10, all enjoyed their meals. Recommend ordering off the lunch specials menu, plenty of food for a couple $$ less. I had the Taco & Chile Rejeno combo dinner, $10.99, excellent, took half of it home. Don't forget your house margarita!

Was okay, food came really fast and burrito stuffed with meat but was a little salty for my taste. Had them warm up the salsa for our chips and that was fine. But overall good service and atmosphere.

Ordered a beef burrito meal and immediately noticed the amount of meat versus lettuce, cheese, etc. I never thought somewhere could give TOO much meat but this place managed to do it. It was disgusting and I felt like I was eating mushy dog food. Even after scooping out 3/4 of the meat it was inedible. Later in the night I threw up for 3 hours. Never eating here again.

We went to Tacos El Norte for lunch on a whim. We hadn’t been there in years for some dumb reason. I ordered the chicken quesadilla dinner. The food was so good that I couldn’t stop eating! I feel like I’m going to burst and I even have leftovers! Huge menu, too so I’ll be trying something different on my next visit. Good service and fresh salsa are also a plus!

Good service and food. Your standard Mexican restaurant. There was a lot of seating available in the restaurant; we were seated very quickly. I got the Tacos El Norte. Very good. I wish the steak was less well done but still delicious. Horchata was also very good!

The cashier was rude. When I called she confirmed I had a dinner. When I picked up my food I only received tacos and not beans and rice. She took it back and did not apologize. Customer service horrible and barely was any rice and beans when she took it back to remake. They put one of each sauce in the bag which is the bare minimum. You all need to train your staff to be more polite to its customers. We spend our money there! I will start going back to the one in round lake! Better service and better food.

CHECK IF YOUR RECEIPT IS CORRECT Took my card out of my hand (that i didn’t want to use to pay) and used it for the the tap to pay without asking me. - I was actively pulling up apple pay - I am perfectly capable of taping and paying by myself. Overpriced and rude. A small bowl of Queso was $8.99. My check said 14.99 for a burrito which does not match the menu. Food was not good. When I confronted her about the prices she said they were correct but it was not. I am not an arguer so I just assumed they were right but later found out the prices were wrong. The real price on menu was $10.99. Very bad experience. Don’t go here.

Nobody came to our table for 15 minutes. We saw her one other time when she brought out our food. I eventually had to go track someone down in order to get my bill. Good food though.

Hard no- The service wasnt good. The steak was as tough as a leather belt. The chicken was over cooked and dry. The shrimp was decent. The rice had hard pieces from being improperly cooked evenly. I didn’t even receive a refill. The salsa for the table was way too watery.

Very consistent food over the many years of going to various El Norte restaurants. The first I ever went to was the small Mundelein location some 25 years ago... And Gurnee is like a flagship in decor when compared. Both are wonderful.

This place is amazing. Loved the Michelada, the sopes de asada were delicious and the gorditas were perfect. The staff was amazing and friendly.

We just had a party catered by Tacos El Norte and they did an amazing job! We ordered the fajita bar and all the guests loved the food. It tasted fresh and flavorful. The guacamole was a big hit as well. We would highly recommend them and use them again in the future.
