This was our first time here and we had ordered take out. When we got there everything was explained to us and they gave us a bunch of bbq sauces based on what they thought we would like. They also gave us free sweet potato pie. Everything was very delicious! Sweet tea was good. All of the BBQ sauces were yummy on the turkey and pulled pork. The Mac and cheese tasted almost home made with bread crumbs. The sweet potato pie was the perfect dessert! We will definitely be returning!

Passing through after visiting the Great Lakes Naval Training Center and stopped here for lunch. So glad we did! The service was amazing, we were greeted as we walked in and treated like family. Good family that is! We each had the Smoked Ribeye, very tasty! Fresh cut French fries, coleslaw and banana pudding for desert. We also had a sample of their ribs. Our meal was very good, the price was about average for a good meal. Definitely good to eat at Mission BBQ again!

My husband and I have been going to this Mission BBQ a few times a year since they opened. We have NEVER had a bad experience; the restaurant is always clean, the staff SUPER friendly, and the food PERFECTION! Please don't tell my mom or grandma but Mission BBQ might have the best Mac n' cheese I've ever eaten! Lol! Today, we went with friends of ours, one couple that has been before and one couple who never had. We wanted to get our friends, who are both 95 and hadn't been here before, here for lunch so they could be here for the 12:00 singing of the National Anthem because our one friend is a WWII Navy veteran and is very patriotic. We told the staff about our friend when we were up front placing our orders. After the National Anthem, the manager introduced our friend to the customers, thanked him for his service and everyone gave him a round of applause. A few of the customers came up and thanked him for his service. It was very special and brought tears to all our eyes. Thank you, Mission BBQ, the Gurnee staff and general manager, Joseph Liss for making this a special lunch for our friend, and for the rest of us at the table. Oh, and btw, this is the best BBQ I've ever had! The meat is so moist and tender, the selection of sauces has a taste for every pallet, & I learned that even salmon can be bbq'ed and tastes amazing!!! We will continue to be patrons of this very fine establishment. 👍🙂

I keep coming back… might as well rate them Been coming here for two years. They got their meats right. I usually go for the brisket or chicken or even pork. Don’t usually do the turkey as I think is a waste given the fact they get the previous three meats right. This time I made a mistake tho… I went for the special; the beef stake, and regretted it. Stick to what you know they get right. That however won’t keep me away from coming back. And the staff has always been super nice.

Best BBQ in town! Great food, great service, love the military flags of all branches and the respect shown our military and service members! Neat to see the military and service members emblems showcased here (plus medals of recognition)! Highly recommend! Even a kid's menu is available too!

I love this place for its sincere support & recognition of active military, veterans, and first responders. As an Army veteran, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the truly outstanding staff. What held me back from giving it 5 stars wad the food. Don't get me wrong, it's very good but frankly there are better tasting BBQ places in the area. Nevertheless, I will be back mainly because I just got such a kick out of being there.

Great food, staff and atmosphere. The 3 meat special and some ribs are my go to's with the kids and they love the variety of BBQ sauces at the table. You can also buy a 6 pack of their sauces for around $20. They do a lot in the community for non-profits, law enforcement, military etc - if you like BBQ you'll love Mission BBQ!

We choose Mission bbq for our wedding catering definitely a great choice! Hannah handled our contract and she was great. The staff came on time,was very professional and super friendly. They did an awesome job, everyone was raving about the cheesy potatoes and all the other food as well. We had some gluten allergies and they made sure to accommodate for it. Great service. 👍

I’d like to give a special thanks to the young lady named Camille who helped me yesterday and was very patient. She was kind and was genuinely a great worker who had the warmest smile. She had even helped me with my food to my table. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves because she is an excellent worker. Thank you so much for the great food and service.

Grew up going to Texas every summer, so im super picky when it comes to BBQ. Mission is probably the best BBQ I've had up here in Northern Illinois. My 7 year old could not stop talking about how much he loved the food too! Has a fun police and military atmosphere. Best part is they give a lot back to Veterans!

The people in the restaurant are great. Food is wonderful. The website needs to be updated for special closures. Wanted to get food and checked the website to make sure they were open. Got there 45 minutes before the website said they would be closed and they were already closed. No lights no people. Very frustrating. I understand it was Labor Day weekend Sunday but... Would have loved a sandwich before driving to drop my kid off at school.

This was our first time at Mission BBQ. I was very pleased overall. The inside was nice and clean. The staff was Chick-fil-A friendly and fast. The food was delicious.

We ate the meat platter and the ribs. We were served quickly and the food was great. Service was great too. We spent $60 for a family of four, with two of those being kids meals. Would definitely recommend. And they’re pro-military and public service fields.

Coming from the food industry, I understand the gut punch when customers walk in 20 minutes before closing. I would just offer to you that you never know what your customers are going through. Mission is sacred to me and my kids. We ate many meals together at our local FL Mission. Even though we no longer live near a Mission we still share many great memories. As we were driving into town from Texas today, I asked my kids if they wanted to go. They expressed they didn't like Illinois Mission's as they were not the same. I convinced them that it was one bad experience. However, they disappointed once again. Not one member of the team said welcome. The manager, as well as the staff minus the cashier, stood by and glared as my kids and I ordered. Then there was a problem with the register as they were already closed out. I remind you, this was 20 minutes before closing. They promptly made our meal, nit to say enjoy or is there anything weeks we can get you. Again, this is not Mission service. As we ate, the manager and staff refilled the bottles but seemed to ignore the empty bottle we had put at the end of the table for them. And to top it off, as we left, they were all too busy fooling around to hear me and my family thank them. So I said it louder and they stopped to say "Thanks". I guess my children were correct. This is not the same Mission. Sad I can not give any aspect higher than a 3 star review. I hope this feedback helps to improve your service for future patrons.

Fantastic customer service. The walls are covered in memorabilia and they pledge allegiance to the flag everyday at noon. I think they pump out smokey BBQ smells at the road to draw you in and it works! Side note, 5.11 next door is also cool and they seem like great neighbors.

This was our first time dining here. The inside of the restaurant was really clean. Plenty of parking spaces outside. Amy helped me with my order, she was very helpful. Ribs,Macaroni and cheese, cornbread taste like home made barbecue! We were all impressed!

Hubby got burnt ends .. I got the pulled pork traditional sandwich.. we shared Maggie's mac n cheese and a French fri..smoked meats are tender, juice..just great.. I really liked the Maggie's Mac n Cheese.. fries are good too! We got the American Hero's cups..to help support our troops! We will definitely be back..

Heaven for smoked meats. Ever since my local area lost many Texas bbq places during pandemic, I had a craving for similar dish. This was it! Great menu choice and cause. Loved lean brisket and baby pork rib.

First time here! We absolutely loved it. The staff was so nice. The place was so clean. LOVED the all the love and support they have for the military, firefighters and law enforcement. The food was amazing. We are from Mississippi so we have our ways on bbq, this place didn’t disappoint. Will definitely return.
