I was very interested in all of what they had to offer. We did the deep ocean experience (which is great for small kids). We loved the butterfly exhibit!! We also visited the national geographic night sky show which was educational yet funny. Give yourself plenty of time for the exhibits and plan for close by parking as this will save time for you to do more in the museum. There is so much to see! Their gift shop is also reasonably priced but they only take debit or credit cards there so do not bring cash to the gift shop.

Wow, this is an excellent natural history museum that kids will absolutely love! Very well done exhibits showcasing animals from all climates. There was a live butterfly exhibit with tons of butterflies all around. Also a civilization exhibit with Egyptian, Sumerian and other near east exhibits. Great job Milwaukee!

Great museum. Been here many times. Easy to enjoy for both children and adults. One popular feature is their butterfly exhibit, with hundreds of live butterflies. Also they have a great exhibit on the third floor about ancient Egypt, Israel and Babylonia. Plus a great exhibit on old Milwaukee. Would be nice if they can add some new exhibits for those of us that come back every year.

Very cool museum with a lot to view. You can spend a good 3+ hours in there. There are three floors with escalator/elevators so it's easily accessible by wheel chair. There is a small coffee shop/cafe for food and snacks. Everything is beautifully display and there are employees stationed around the museum for questions/demonstration.

I try to make it to the Milwaukee Public Museum any time it’s affordable. They offer free dates for Milwaukee residents. You do have to reserve tickets online for these free dates, so be sure to do that- it can get busy. I visited in January 2022, and the small candy shop in the Streets of Old Milwaukee exhibit was closed. It makes sense because of COVID, but it still was a bit sad as it’s always a favorite spot. They offer the candy sold in the regular museum gift shop, though! Staff is always very pleasant, too.

Awesome! I have visited numerous museums in the US and around the world. This one stands out as one of the best collections and experiences I have ever had. You can spend an entire day at the museum and still not have seen everything they have to offer. One of the best exhibits is the butterfly sanctuary. Here you fully engage in nature and history. This is a must see for everyone! Please note that the museum will be be moving to a new facility in 2026, in order to house their collection of 4 million and growing.

Very informative History Museum. The employees are very friendly, and always willing to help if asked. Love how much information is tied to each exhibit. This is not a museum that you can do quickly, as even walking through it would take you several hours. I think honestly to interact and read everything it would take you multiple trips. We've been here numerous times over the years, and I continue to learn new information when going. We did take our school-age children here, and after spending several hours, they did get tired towards the end. Although we're ones to really read through things. The museum itself is multi-leveled, there are escalators, stairs and elevators to access the various levels. You do get a map when entering , as well as there are various places throughout the museum that has maps. On the ground floor there is a Cafe and a Coffee House with traditional Museum prices. They do have kid friendly options, as well as warm food and snack type items. However, with very good reason, food and drink are not allowed in the exhibit area. The planetarium is very cool! We saw the stargazing in Wisconsin presentation, and it was both informational and wonderful to see. Definitely not something you should do if you have motion sickness though. Also a big fan of the butterfly exhibit. Love that this is part of the museum. We saw hundreds of butterflies and even had a few land on us in the 20 minutes we spend in here. There is a parking garage attached to the museum. You can pay when you're leaving, or at the kiosk prior to getting in your car. Bonus, I'm always surprised how clean it is as well! Kudos to the cleaning staff.

The Milwaukee Public Museum sure lives up to its name of being a Museum! It's huge, even on busy days I'd be surprised if folks had problems moving around, not to mention NOT noticing how Fricken clean it is despite this size! In terms of service, everyone working there were pretty nice, helpful, and just good people! Exhibits wise....lord there is a lot to see, some might say TOO much really! I'd go into details on that, but for once? Look at the images and videos I put down! It's a great Museum and I'm kinda sad when I was there, apparently they aren't doing too well financially. I can only hope that changes soon because its a great Museum and one I could not recommend enough! Pictures and videos are of the outside and inside of the Museum, and VARIOUS Exhibits inside it, butterfly enclosure included!

This is the BEST museum I've ever been to. We decided to visit on a whim while exploring the city, and it exceeded our expectations! There's a big planetarium, a butterfly conservatory, areas for animals and nature, old-time stuff, different world cultures, and more. I could stay here for days. I want to come back.

We took a day trip from Green Bay specifically to visit the museum and ended up buying a family membership because we know we will go back. Our two girls have different interests and there was domething for everyone. If you are only going once give yourselves hours or you will be rushing through and miss a lot if greats exhibits!

A truly impressive museum with a wealth of exhibits. Highly recommend allocating ample time to explore everything. The $1 coat check is a worthwhile convenience, sparing you from carrying coats. Enjoyed the 30-40min educational movie in the dome theater too.

We had a great day on Sunday at the public museum! First time here and it didn’t disappoint. Loved the butterfly area, as well as the trolly/old Milwaukee area. We didn’t quite get to experience the 2nd and 3rd floor in depth, but if it’s anything like the 1st floor exhibits, I’m sure we’ll enjoy it the next time we’re here. We’ll be back!

It's been a very long time since I had so much fun at a museum. All of the exhibits are wonderfully detailed and interactive. You feel like you are truly entering into a new world every time you step into a different exhibit. There are three floors full of wonderful places to explore and the dome theater is an incredible experience.

I've been a few times, it's always a fun day. Daughter and I went through it in about 3 hours, I think we were cruising. The displays are well done, butterfly exhibit is always a hit. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

Nice, well balanced natural history museum. Not a world class museum but a very nice regional museum. Liked the world cultures section and that it isn’t focused on European culture. Nice display of native history too. I think it is a great place for local schools to visit. Loved the butterfly garden.

I’ve been coming to this museum since I was young-love to visit whenever I’m in town. I visited on a Sunday-which was a pretty busy day, but still had a great time re-experiencing my favorite exhibits! Old Streets of Milwaukee and the European Village are a must see! I love seeing all the animals-although I think they need a new Badger-he’s lost the colors of his coat. The new dinosaur exhibit was amazing!!! Very informative! I love the gift shops too! The only negative I have about my visit, was the sewer smells-it turned my stomach and gave me a terrible headache. Otherwise-another awesome visit!!

The Best place to visit to get an experience on history. They have dinosaurs to butterfly. The first floor is the best floor imo. The butterfly exhibit is the best part. You can get up close and personal with it. Have it landed on you. It’s better to come early to avoid the rush and find parking.

HUGEEEE museum. Definitely get your money's worth if you explore it all. There are SEVERAL floors so don't be fooled and think you've explored it all if you've only been there for an hour or so. Keep taking the escalators up until you run out of up escalators. Have fun!

One of the best Museums to visit. Combined with the Planetarium , free flying Butterflies exhibit, the whole 150000 sq.feet of space is well utilized. Lots to learn and explore in the real immersive experience!

This museum is world class. Is heartbreaking that it will will close and downsize ina couple years. Go here asap and set aside a day at least to explore it. There is so much to see! 10/10! The historic city area was my favourite...it felt...like home.

Such a great day trip!! The cost of the ticket is $25 per adult but you can easily spend the entire day walking through the exhibits & eating lunch at the cafe in the museum. Safe parking in the parking garage Next-door and direct access into the museum ground floor. Walking through the live butterfly exhibit is a must!! Such a great experience!

Top notch science & history museum. I easily spent all day here. There are countless full size dioramas and themed exhibits that would give Disney a run for it's money. The animal skeletons were my favorite. But I also really enjoyed Survival of the Slowest which was a special exhibit that had a real live sloth! Don't miss the live butterfly room.

Attended a Wedding at the Museum. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and experience! Everyone had fun!! For the Wedding, the food, bar and service were awesome! This is my first time at the Museum and will definatley go back to check out all the other exhibits! Parking was so easy right behind the Museum at the MacArthur Square parking structure. Never had to walk outside, to enter the Museum. This is a must see❤

This place is amazing! You wouldn't know it from the outside but this place is huge and has tons to offer. We were there for hours and I guarantee we barely touched the surface of what there was to see. Has something for everyone. The Crossroads of Civilization was fantastic. Don't think I've ever been that close to a real mummy before. The Dinosaur exhibit was great as well. Definitely recommended and want to go back next time we visit.

There's so much here. It's a natural history museum and a little bit of a Milwaukee history museum. A lot of information here and fairly interactive. It definitely shows some wear and tear and the new building will be up in 2026 but I'm going to have to go back to this one because I ran out of time. The planetarium is cool and all the different animals and really cool to look at. I recommend going. Fun for all ages

It's been 12 years since I've been here last. And my children wanted to go before they moved locations. We enjoyed it so much. It was great family time and learning.

Amazing place, we spent about 3 hours there and still didn't get a chance to see it all. I want to make it back to this location before they build the new one and then compare the new and old. Excited for the growth but worried that some of the elements they have there will be hard to recreate.

Our Milwaukee Museum is a fascinating diaramic natural history museum. The displays and sound clips help visitors transport themselves to different times and places. The museum is so comprehensive with what is covered, you could make multiple visits and still find something new to learn about. I love the special exhibits that come through and entice return visits.

Much more to do and explore than I thought. The butterfly experience was fun and it was entertaining for my pre toddler son. Teachers get in free and parking was easy underground right on site for $10

One of the most underrated museum in the world! Exceptional detail and numerous exhibits for adults and kids. A must see if visiting Milwaukee. The level of details on the exhibits is world class and unmatched anywhere in the world. Milwaukee is fortunate to have this museum.

The best public museum in the area. There's so many amazing exhibits and the space is amazing. I highly recommend the streets old Milwaukee. The butterfly exhibit is also a major exhibit that well absolutely astound young children and adults.

It's been 20yrs since I have visited the museum & most the exhibits haven't changed. It was interesting for the adults but all ages found a great majority outdated. I now understand why the museum is rebuilding! The butterfly exhibit was the highlight of our visit.

It is one of the best places to visit with kids in Milwaukee. There are so many interesting things to see, from butterflies to old town to dianasores to Chrystals. It is a great place to educate your kids. Although I love Field Museum so much and this place has replicas in most cases, I think it was more fun for kids than field museums.

Had a great time! A few areas could use some updates but overall it is a great place, lots to learn and do. The WI night sky show was very nice and the women presenting the show was knowledgeable and friendly; my kids loved answering her questions, that made them feel special while they learned about constellations, planets, etc. 💗✨💗✨💗 🐛🦋🪲🦂🦕🦖🦥🐲🗿🗺🔬🔭🌝🪐🌌

We spent our whole day here with the kids and had a great time. The downside was the lack of handicapped parking by the entrance (four stalls) and the rest of the spaces are for compact cars - which were packed with full size cars and SUVs. Also, if you want to see the planetarium show, you'll need to stand in line at least half an hour early to get a seat, which they only tell you after waiting in line for twenty minutes and being told they're full. Doors to the special exhibits weren't very accessible - no automatic doors and they weren't wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair without getting someone else to help hold both doors open.

My kid loves the butterflies, even if she's also kind of terrified of them. I really loved the Tyrannosaurus exhibit and am looking forward to whatever goes in that space next. The shows are great, but sit near the top/center of the audience. Looking forward to what they do with the next building. Hoping to see updated Native People's of Wisconsin exhibits in the new space.

Haven't been here for quite awhile. We took my son's family with 4 little kids the oldest at age 5. They had a wagon that held all of them. Amazing ! Anyway the museum offers history and cultures of the whole world with examples in glass cases, buildings and dioramas holding our attention. The butterfly house in great too! The kids had fun trying to get them to light on them.

Nice museum, the butterfly exhibit was my favorite part. The bathrooms were a bit rough especially as the day went on, it was busy but the upkeep on the cleaning was clearly difficult for the staff to keep up and the facilities are very outdated. I am looking forward to seeing what the new museum will be like, the plans look amazing!
