Went and checked out this park/hiking area this weekend. Little bits of color here and there. The trails have nice little signs to give interesting facts about the plants and the surrounding area as you walk. Lots of birds including a large Turkey Vulture were around. Pretty, natural area, with a couple of shelters and camp areas.

Place is a hidden gem in mchenry county ,great views ,great place to camp close to home ,a lot of trails ,we had a great campsite,no electric or water but was quiet and really well kept up,the camp gal that helped us was great ,a little dusty and no showers but still nice ,fire pit ,picnic bench on our site, was great and will be back for sure ,only open on weekends and first come first serve

This was the nicest campground I’ve ever been too. The sites were well maintained with a level limestone area to put your tent. The sites were all far apart from one another so you really felt like you were secluded. The check in was seamless and all of the workers were great.

Home to some of the best hiking in the county. There are a lot of oak walnut and hickory trees. I'm glad to see hiking is still allowed during hunting season. Put some blaze orange on, just to be safe. Good bird watching for woodland species. There is a campground onsite, but it is rarely open.

Quiet little place. Perfect to get away and listen to the leaves crunch under your feet.

It’s a very nice place for a 2-3mi run with a mix of wooded and open trails
