A huge fort which hosts a huge huge cannon. You can walk along the magnificent walls of the fort and get a very good view from there. But except for the huge cannon and the view there is the nothing much to see. You either visit this or Nahargarh fort. Visiting both is not really worth it if you are on a tight schedule of day or 2 in Jaipur. This is usually deserted a little compared to Amer fort. So monkeys fill the space. Beware of the monkey menace. I recommend carrying a stick with you while walking along the fort walls just in case you encounter monkeys.

It's a very beautiful fort. I was there in the afternoon hoping to see the sunset but it was quite early to see that. We parked outside at the parking area and bought tickets. The museum area was super impressive and I could see different eras of history there. I was surprised because the road that led to the fort was huge like the ancestors knew that we would drive cars there. The view of the city and the area around was breathtaking. We walked through every part of the fort and pretended we were some royal members. The fort was not crowded at all. Maybe it was late so that visitors left the place and moved to another place to see. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the silence there. Before leaving the fort, we asked to visit a small temple there to pray.

Jaigarh fort is where the biggest cannon is placed. It is mesmerizing how they placed the cannon and other armoury at the top of the hills in those old era when there were no machines no roads! It is just beautiful. The views from the fort are great, you can see the panoramic view of the green hills surrounding the fort. If you go to the last point, you can see the full Amer fort from there. It is a complete maze though, you can easily get lost if you don't remember the path or don't have a guide with you. The only con is that even though the maintenance of this fort is privatized, the cleanliness is not up to the mark.

It was a breathtaking view and experience to visit here. Built at the top of the Aravalli ranges in order to protect the Amber palace below the hills. The view of the wall built along the hills resembles the Chinese great Wall and is one of the attractions of the spot. India's largest cannon jaivan cannon is placed at the top of this fort. Also there are some arms museum, photo galleries which depict the royal family's chronology etc.. the fort is still under the control of Jaipur royal family. Ticket costs are rs 150 per head. You can reach here both by vehicle and walking. If you are walking then first visit the Amber palace below and then climb up to here. If you are healthy enough I suggest walking compared to a vehicle service. Some small cafeteria is available on the top. Also washroom and toilet facilities are available here.

Jaigarh fort is not that famous as Amer fort, Except the biggest Cannon there is nothing much to watch. If you are a history lover & want to explore about ancient time then it will be good for you. The ticket price is too high , 150/person (Indian adult) and I don't think to be worth. If you are fond of taking photos, then this place is right for you because people come here rarely and it is mostly empty, so you can click photos of your choice.

Jaigarh Fort is situated on the promontory called the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) of the Aravalli range; it overlooks the Amer Fort and the Maota Lake, near Amer in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. The fort was built by Mirza Raja Jai Singh in 1726 to protect the Amer Fort. India's largest cannon jaivan cannon is placed at the top of this fort. It’s architectural marvel. This place has biggest cannon of the world. It was build here, used here and maintained here Surroundings are awesome. Architecture and civil engineering at its peak . If you are falling short of time, one can go in a vehicle till the cannon. That way you save on time and can avoid the heat of summer too.

BETTER TO BOOK TICKET ONLINE IN ADVANCE. After Amber fort, this is the 2nd Must visit the fort in Jaipur. After visiting Amber Fort you can visit this palace. There is plenty of parking facilities available and the road is also in good shape. With extra pay, you can take a vehicle inside the fort to every location if you have elder people with you. I would suggest to explore by walk only. Spend around 2 hours to visit the whole palace as the area is too big. The view of the city and the area around is breathtaking. This fort is managed by the king himself. It has the biggest canon in the world, which was never used in any battle. It has the biggest water tank which was used to store treasury won in the battle along with Akbar. The views from the fort are great, you can see the panoramic view of the green hills surrounding the fort. If you go to the last point, you can see the full Amer fort from there.

One of the three forts in Jaipur and probably the least maintained one. The drive to Jaigarh Fort is a pleasant experience in the winters but will be scorching during the summers. Carry plenty of water with you. The fort has ample parking space both inside and outside. You need to purchase tickets from the outside and then get in. The fort is spread out over a large area and there's few places to see. The view however is excellent. Being under the aegis of the trust instead of the Government, clear signs of lack of maintenance is visible everywhere. Illiterates and vandals have destroyed most of the walls and monuments by inscribing their nonsense on it. There is a souvenir shop inside which charges a higher price compared to the outside shops.

Good fort.. guides won’t trouble much here. There is a restaurant inside, and if you want to eat in it, you don’t need to buy tickets. So you literally pay nothing for tickets here if you planning on eating too. Big water tanks, towers, a big canon which was only ever tested only once and it made so much sound that the people who fired it became deaf even though jumped in water… and the provision made to jump in water is interesting to watch.

The most beautiful location in Jaipur is a must visit at this place. But the entry price is too high 150 rs for Indian. Government should reduce the cost so that normal people can also visit at this location.

For some reason not that many people go up here. That's their loss! This is a large historical military complex that is well worth exploring in full. The real highlight is right at the end high point with beautiful battlements encircling a lovely garden. Don't leave without finding it as many seem to do. One downside of this site is that they allow cars to drive in for a fee which somewhat spoiled the ambience of some of the more accessible locations. You really don't need a guide here as long as you do a bit of reading before visiting

Beautiful fort to visit. You will find no need to visit Amber fort as Amber can be seen from it. The views of the city as well as of Amber fort and jal Mahal is excellent from here. There is an entry fee of Rs 100 per adult and Rs 100 if you want to enter inside the fort with your personal vehicle (there is no need to enter with vehicle if it is hired as the places are very close to eachother inside). The biggest cannon of the world is also kept here. You would surely love this place.

Scenic and humongous fort with breathtaking views. The fort itself is well maintained and clean. Guides are well versed about the history, explain with pride and are very hospitable. I believe, few seats could be installed in main places as this is a very big area and old persons need a break to rest. Installing a drinking water machine would be really helpful.

I really liked the fort and knowing about the history behind it. Would recommend getting a guide as they tell you the details of the rainwater harvesting and the cannon which is believed to be world's largest. Stay away from the shop inside the fort. They sell overprices sarees and other things, you can get the same product at half the price in the handicraft village near amber fort. There is a lot of paid parking space available in case you are planning to drive. The fort offers a very good view of amber palace and if you are interested you can hike till the palace from the fort itself as there are tunnels and walking trails. Would recommend visiting early morning as the crowd is very less that time.

Always a great walk to visit these forts such beautiful crafts and so much to learn about the past and be in awe of the facts. Each pillar and each corner has a story. Every corner oozes out its own story. The intricate works looks amazing. You need atleast 1-2 hours to wholly get around the fort and know about all the facts. Amazing views and such pretty spots to click. If you're into history and architecture surely you are going to fall in love with the place. Happy traveling and tripping 💗✌️✌️

Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur is all about the impressive big cannon and the extensive long wall. The fort offers a unique experience, showcasing historical artillery and a vast defensive structure. If you're a fan of military history and enjoy exploring monumental fortifications, Jaigarh Fort with its big cannon and long wall is worth a visit. You can cover jaigarh fort along with nahargarh fort in the same day. if I have to select 1 then I would select nahargarh over jaigarh due much point to view

Jaigarh fort is fort which is still in hands of the royal family. Thats why entry fee here is 152 rupees per indian person. Car parking outside fort is 50 rs per vehicle and 100 rs fler car for parking in inside fort. Giant jaiwan cannon is kept on this fort only. For detailed information do hire a guide which will take only 100 rs . It will take 1 to 2 hrs lf your time to see this fort completely including museum. The fort is known for water filtration system. It was build for guarding amber fort. Secret tunnel to amber palace is also from the same fort and it is open for all and gets closed at evening 4.30 .

    Nice fort...

Jaivan Cannon Jaivan is believed to be the largest cannon in the world. Pulled by elephants and ropes. it can be rotated on a robust four-wheeled carriage. with an 8- foot screw to elevate the barrel. Over 100 kilos of gunpowder was needed to fire the jaivane and marks on the bore. through which a 50-kilo cannonball is fired. indicates it was fired more than once. The gun's recoil is about four feet. The Jaivan is beautifully decorated with auspicious symbols. elephants and peacocks. A lotus motif frames the mouth of the barrel and floral motifs and patterns decorate the length. ending with a pair of birds at the back. The carriage and canopy was added in the 19th century by Sawai Ram Singh II. While the cannon itself was cast in 1720 at the gun-foundry of Jaigarh, which you can visit. Length: 31 feet and 3 inches Weight: approx 50 tonnes Carriage height front: 9ft. rear 4.5 ft

Jaigarh Fort, also known as the "Victory Fort," is a majestic fortress located in the Aravalli Hills near Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. This historically significant structure is perched on a hilltop overlooking the beautiful Pink City of Jaipur. It was built in the early 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur, and is part of a larger defensive network of forts and palaces in the region, which includes Amber Fort and Nahargarh Fort. Here are some key features and historical aspects of Jaigarh Fort: - Architecture and Design: Jaigarh Fort is renowned for its robust military architecture, well-preserved battlements, and extensive structures. -The Largest Cannon on Wheels: One of the most notable attractions within Jaigarh Fort is the massive cannon known as "Jaivana." It is believed to be the world's largest wheeled cannon and was cast in the fort's foundry during the rule of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. - Water Management System: Jaigarh Fort boasts a sophisticated water supply and storage system. It is connected to the Amber Fort by an underground passage, which was used as an escape route for the royal family during times of war or emergency. The fort's water tanks, including the enormous "Ganga Pol," were designed to store and supply water for the fort's residents and garrison. - Historical Significance: Jaigarh Fort served as a vital stronghold for the Kachwaha Rajput rulers of Amber (now Jaipur) and played a crucial role in defending their territory. - Scenic Views: The fort offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the beautiful city of Jaipur and the rugged Aravalli Hills. - Tourist Destination: Jaigarh Fort is now open to the public and is a popular tourist attraction in Jaipur. Visitors can explore the various sections of the fort, including the palaces, watchtowers, armory, and museum, which houses a fascinating collection of artifacts and historical relics. Conclusion: Jaigarh Fort is not only a symbol of Rajasthan's rich history and heritage but also a testament to the military prowess and architectural brilliance of the past. Its imposing structure, well-preserved heritage, and stunning views make it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and travelers exploring the regal state of Rajasthan.

Very beautiful fort located at a certain height. Timings: Opens till 6:30pm. You can go to fort via an Uber; but since you don’t get networks there it would be difficult coming back to city with an Uber. Local auto are available there but they are gonna charge way higher so be prepared. You can see Amer fort view/ city view from top. It’s really beautiful inside. And the guide helps with history. Tickets are 150/- each adults.

Jaigarh Fort is very nice for photo lovers. There is one big JaiVan Cannon (also known as Jaivan tope), which is awesome. But other than that, there is no such attraction and hence I personally fill 150 Rs entry charge for adults and 75 Rs for students/kids is little bit costly. The best out of Jaigarh, Amer and Nahargarh is Nahargarh from which you can see a great view if Jaipur.

The fascinating Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur is home to an amazing collection of antiquities that tell historical stories. Its expansiveness makes for an immersive experience, enhanced by the stunning view of Amer Fort from its high location. A highlight is the world's largest cannon, adding an extra layer of intrigue to this historical gem. A visit to the fort promises not only a journey through time but also a visual feast of architectural brilliance and historical artifacts.

Beautiful expansive fort, overlooking Amer fort, which served as a military stronghold and munitions factory in it's time. The entry pathway is paved by forest rows where youd spot plenty of peacocks and peahens. The once largest cannon in the world (Jaivan Cannon) (with a known firing distance record of 35 Kms) is positioned at the top of this fort. The views are amazing (see attached pics). Get a guide if you take interest in knowing the history. Else just take your time and walk around to explore. Best to visit here during the day then pair your visit in evening to Nahargarh fort nearby.

This place is very impressive Nature, in the broadest sense, is the natural, physical, or material world or universe. "Nature" can refer to the phenomena of the physical world, and also to life in general. The study of nature is a large, if not the only, part of science. Although humans are part of nature, human activity is often understood as a separate category from other natural phenomena....and the atmosphere is also to good....?❣️

A very well maintained fort, where the King's guards still live with their families. Excellent millitary architecture - amazing the way soldiers in the 17th - 18th century used to evade enemies by using hot oil from the walls. The largest cannon in the world, weighing more than 100 tons "Jaivana" was amazing to see. Check out the amazing sarees and quilts available in the handicraft shop owned by the king, inside the Jaigarh fort. This fort has nothing except for Jaivana Canon which makes it worth a visit. The views from the fort are also good, but the fort is not that attractive as compared to Amber Fort.

Big hill palace fort is having good fortification, bastions, gates, palace, Armoury chamber, Museum, garden, water tanks, and many monuments. Asia's second largest Cannon, "Jaivana Cannon" is on this fort. The Jaigarh Fort, located on one of the peaks of the Aravalli range of hills is built about 400 m above the Amer Fort. The fort was built by Jai Singh II in 1726 to protect the Amer Fort and its palace complex and was named after him. The fort, rugged and similar in structural design to the Amer Fort, is also known as Victory Fort. The palace complex (Laxmi Vilas, Lalit Mandir, Vilas Mandir and Aram Mandir) located ), an armoury and a museum.

    (Translated by Google) Jaigarh Fort is a fort situated on the Aravalli ranges of Rajasthan, which is situated at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level. The fort was built in 1726 by the famous Raja Jai Singh II to strengthen the Amber Fort. From this fort one can see the view of Amber Fort and its complex and also a breath taking view of the green hills and lakes that surround the fort. It is one of the most distinctive historical monuments in the Jaipur region and has many unique features that make it unique. The area which is home to the Jaigad Fort and the Amer Fort was initially ruled by the Meenas, and it is believed that the Jaigad Fort was built along with the Amer Fort. The Meenas originally built the fort as the home of the king and royal family, who lived there besides their residence in the Amer Fort During the reign of the Mughals, the Jaigad Fort, including the great emperor Akbar, was used as a place for the Rajputs to keep treasures, loot, arms, ammunition and other goods. An interesting feature about the fort is that despite observing many rules and coming under siege many times, no one actually managed to capture the fort, which is why it earned the name- Vijay Fort. The Jaigad Fort is a massive sandstone structure built in the Indo-Persian style, held entirely with lime mortar with Cyclopian walls. The structure consists of a square garden surrounded by ramparts that lead to the upper levels of the fort. One of the most interesting features about the architecture of the fort are the lattice windows, which are so intricately designed that one can get a clear view of the inside from the outside, but from the outside no one can get the inside through these windows Can see The main gate of Jaigad Fort is called Dungar Darwaza. There are two ancient temples within the complex of the fort including the Ram Harihar temple built in the 10th century and the Kaal Bhairava temple dating back to the 12th century. Guests can do court rooms, toilets, assembly halls and more, which is a testimony to the magnificent architecture and construction techniques of the Rajputs. There are Killenuma gates throughout the fort which offer incredible views of the Aravalli ranges and Sagar Lake located in the vicinity of the fort.

---->Interesting Facts and Trivia About Jaigarh Fort >Jaigarh Fort was one of the main cannon foundries during Emperor Shah Jahan’s rule as there were many rich iron ore mines in the region. >Did you know that two former rulers of Jaigarh Fort, Major General Man Singh II and Sawai Bhawani Singh also served in the Indian Army post Independence? >The main attraction of the fort is the Jaivana Cannon, one of the largest cannons at the time, weighing 50 tonnes and having a 20.19 feet barrel and 11 inch diameter. As the canno rests on four wheels instead of two, it could be turned in 360 degrees, thus making it possible to fire in all the four directions. Since, there were no bitter relations with the Mughals then and there was peace, the cannon was fired only once. >Though a strong and beautiful fort, it was never home to any rulers but was mainly used for manufacturing artilleries. >Built of red sandstone, this is a fortified fort and still maintains its magnificence and pride. >It is the watchtower that is the best place in the fort to be as it gives an astounding view of the splendid environs. >There are two temples within the fort premises – Kal Bhairav Temple was built in the 12th century while the Ram Harihar Temple is a 10th century construction; a must-visit. >Jaigarh Fort was in news in 1977 when the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was said to have launched a treasure hunt in the fort premises. >Though the search by an army unit continued for three months, they didn’t find anything. Bad news for others but good news for the fort as it was left undisturbed.

Jaigarh Fort, which is a part of the same complex as that of Amer Fort, as the two are connected by a subterranean passage. The passage was meant to evacuate the royal family in case of an attack on Amber Palace. The 18th-century tunnel was thrown open to the public and has been made motorable. To facilitate the trip to Jaigarh, golf carts operate from Ganesh Pol to Awani Gate, the fort’s entry. The ride is very nominally priced at rupees 70 for a one way trip and rupees 100 for two way and operates from 9am to 4pm. Jaigarh fort can also be approached from the Amer Fort over a short climb along a steep hill track. The fort is named after Jai Singh II, who got it built to protect the Amer fort. Hence, it was actually a defensive structure rather than a palace itself. What really makes it famous is a celebrated cannon named Jaivana, which was then the world's largest cannon on wheels. The fort never witnessed any major resistance, and therefore, despite the cannon’s exceptional record, it was test-fired only once. The fort museum is a testimony of this fort being used as a major center of artillery depository. Used weapons and other war utilities are preserved and displayed at the museum. The fort precincts also include Laxmi Vilas, Lalit Mandir, Aram Mandir, and the Vilas Mandir.

Jaigarh Fort is located at a height of 500 feet above sea level and offers panoramic views of the surrounding. It houses the world's largest cannon on the wheels called 'Jaivana Cannon'. There are various other attractions within the fort like Laxmi Vilas, Lalit Mandir, Aram Mandir and the Vilas Mandir. Jaigarh Fort is made-up of sandstones and is spread over an area of 3 km. Made with the purpose of protecting Amer Fort, Jaigarh fort is considered as the strongest monument of Jaipur. Also known by the name of 'Victory Fort', this place was considered as a storehouse of all the war amours, cannons, arms and ammunitions. There is a Persian style garden within the complex of the fort which is divided into 4 parts. The best part about the fort is its windows which are made of lattices. These windows allow a complete view of the exteriors, but nothing can be observed from the outside.

Jaipur is the capital of India’s Rajasthan state. It evokes the royal family that once ruled the region and that, in 1727, founded what is now called the Old City, or “Pink City” for its trademark building color. At the center of its stately street grid (notable in India) stands the opulent, colonnaded City Palace complex. With gardens, courtyards and museums, part of it is still a royal residence. Its quite huge and has an interesting history around it. Will not add details for that. Drove here by our car and the road is good and traffic is well managed. The car will go inside the fort to the main attractions so the lazy ones don't need to mind the walk. Take a guide as he can tell interesting stuff about the fort which you would otherwise miss out.

Got to know a great deal about the history of Rajasthan. While visiting forts, it's better to get a guide, they don't charge a lot and the experience is very different when you get to know the actual stories of the kings who used to reside in the forts. The water harvesting system here is worth knowing about. The cannon at the top is also worth seeing. There are many interesting stories about this place. The reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because it has very few interesting points as compared to other forts in jaipur. If you are a history lover like me, you will definitely love this place but if you have limited time it would better to visit other forts. Other places in jaipur for history lovers are the other forts, the Jantar mantar and the Albert Hall Museum.

Beautiful place. Amazing views from top of the fort. Highly recommended place to visit in Jaipur. Located on the Hill of Eagles, Jaigarh fort was built in 1726 AD by Sawan Jai Singh II.

#1. Jaigarh Fort is situated on the promontory called the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) of the Aravalli range it overlooks the Amer Fort and the Maota Lake, near Amer in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. The fort was built by Jai Singh II in 1726 to protect the Amer Fort and its palace complex and was named after him . #2.The fort, rugged and similar in structural design to the Amer Fort, is also known as Victory Fort. It has a length of 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) along the north–south direction and a width of 1 kilometre (0.62 mi). The fort features a cannon named "Jaivana"(Jaivana Cannon), which was manufactured in the fort precincts and was then the world's largest cannon on wheels. Jaigarh Fort and Amer Fort are connected by subterranean passages and considered as one complex.

The fort has court rooms and halls with screened windows, gardens, armoury, museum, temple etc. The ticket price is 150 per person (Indian) 200 per person (foreigner). Included in the city palace foreigners entry ticket ! Really nice view of the forest part of the city and amber Fort from higher. If you take a tuktuk, the road to get here is very steep, so they charge you an extra to get there. Uber tuktuk estimate price was wrong and we got cancelled as they did not take this extra in consideration.

Would rate this fort better than Amber and Nahargarh fort. Entry is 100 rupees for Indian Citizens and you would need at least 90 mins to look through the entire place. You get a splendid view of the Amber fort with the lake. There is lots to walk around and explore, like the arms and weapons museum and the cannon forgery place. There is also a tunnel/path that leads to the Amber fort.

The first thing that strikes you is the sheer grandeur of Jaigarh Fort. The massive walls and imposing gates make you feel like you've entered a realm where the past comes alive. As you walk through the various sections, it's impossible not to be in awe of the strategic brilliance behind its design. The views from the top are breathtaking, offering a panoramic spectacle of the surrounding landscape that leaves you speechless. The famous Jaivana Canon is placed here and is the major attraction of the place. There's ample parking and other facilities here. There's also a restraunt in the Fort serving delicious food. It generally takes 2-3 hrs to see the place.

World's biggest cannon, picturesque view of Jaipur, Aravalli and Amer Fort, some hidden secrets are some of the reasons to see this masterpiece. You may take a guide for ₹ 100 and it will worth it if you like some history.

Very nice place. Guide is available at 200. You can book cab for all day at 2500 and can cover Amber Palace , Jaigargh Fort, Nahargarh Fort, Panna Meena Kund, Jal Mahal. Palace is very nice and well preserved. Must take guide to know about history People playing folk music is also available. Do not go to Meena Bazar market which guide will take you they quality is not good and price is also very high. Visit in early daytime to avoid crowd. Many hawkers are present outside to get refreshment. It take 1 hours to see each and everything patiently. DSLR Allowed. Entry Tickets Yes Must Visit Early around 8 AM
