Dariyapur Dokra Craft Village situated at Abhirampur, near Guskara in Bradhaman District, West Bengal.Dokra is non–ferrous metal casting using the lost-wax-casting technique. This sort of metal casting has been used in India for over 4,000 years and is still used. One of the earliest known lost wax artefacts is the dancing girl of Mohenjodaro.

Dariyapur village is located close to Guskara in Bardhaman, known for its Dokra craftsmanship. The families had migrated to this place about 120 years ago from Odisha. At present, 133 artisans in Dariyapur village practice Dokra craft as occupation. Their craftsmanship is being widely accepted and regularly displayed in various fairs & exhibition.

Today, some time was spent in the village of Dwariapur on the outskirts of the town of Guskara in Eastern Burdwan district. This village is also a famous Dokara industrial field, like the Bikaner of Bankura district. As a matter of fact, when the President of the biker got the award of the President of the Dokara Artist late war worker, he got to know that the daughter-in-law of Prashanta's sister-in-law's son-in-law Dada said, "Now let me talk to the war guard at home." He also got to know that in the village of Dariapur, five Dokara artistes have been awarded the President's award till date. Among them Prasanta's grandfather was one of the late Mot Karmakar. It is also known to me that Dokra Mela is held in Dariapur, like Bikana Shildanga. Very good time Talk to some beautiful people. In front of these gifted artists, in front of their eyes, seeing the amazing dome of art, seeing the lives of those people, making myself easily out of the way ... It is really an unforgettable experience.

#Please hit the 'Like' button if this review is helpful to you: #PLEASE MAINTAIN CLEANLINESS OF THIS PLACE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!!! Like some historic places in the earth this place is one of them which have historic values. This place is comes under the jurisdiction of Illambazar Block. The park is very small in area because of its historic values. In here, you will be witnessed of some historic trees which are almost 1.5 to 3.5 crore years old. During excavation of Ponds in this area, these trees were found. After carbon dating of these trees, the administration became sure about the ages of these trees and immediately stopped the pond digging process and made this place as Wood Fossil Park. This place is open to all and taken care by the local administration with the help of local communities like Santhal tribe. For the visitors civil trees are displayed as showpiece. If you gently hit these trees with you finger you will able to hear different sounds coming out of it. This place is really clean and well maintained by the local tribe. You will find a little tribal cooperative shop run by Mr. Bauri and his co-villagers just outside of the park. Entry is free for all. Added attraction of this place is medicinal plants. A really nice place to be around here with your children as well as family. Also this place is the heaven for researchers and enthusiastics. Enjoy and cheers!

Went here on 1st January 2022 by Ganadevta Express. Quickly exited Guskara station & got a Durgapur bound bus, took less than 10 mins. to reach Dwariapur (fare ₹10). One can roam around the village if u wish to remain concentrated to the Dokra artwork. But, if u have a habit of leisure walks, definitely give it a try, explore a small jungle just behind the village ... be sure not to litter. Other nearby destinations: Valkimachan, Orgram forest, Ausgram forest, Chadni jaltungi.

Little cooperative for local artisans. Nice welcoming people, they don't pester you. and although I did not find anything exclusive, the prices for the Dokra handicrafts were reasonable.

I longed to visit this place for quite some time and luckily got the chance while travelling from Mankar towards Ghuskara. Its good to see a complete Dokra village, where you will find artisans and craftsmen engaged in creating Dokra idols, jewellery etc using the lost-wax casting technique. This sort of metal casting has been used in India for over 4,000 years and its still being used even today. The workers set up their shop after 12noon to sell their wares. You can also visit around the village huts and see them creating these wonderful pieces of art live. In terms of price, its costlier than Odisha or Bastar, as they procure the metal from Odisha itself. Do, haggle if you intend to buy. A good place for a day out.

Dariyapur Dokra Artists Cooperative Industrial Society is a Cooperative setup by Dhokra craftsmen of Bardhaman with the determination to increase their access to markets and financial opportunities for their craft. In recognition of their craft, the MSME Department, Govt. of West Bengal nominated Dariyapur as a Rural Craft Hub of Bengal in 2013.

Yesterday I visited Dariapur Dokragram and had a survey through all 55 families of the village. This village is under devoloped, where the maximum qualification is class 8. They are the best maker of Dokra Arts. But nobody is giving the proper vision to them. The income of each family per month is very low. Infrastructure remains through microscopic view only. Such talent they have through generations but still they are far away from the limelight. But the Middleman , wholesalers and investors earned a lot from the business.
