Last March, my friend Thibault returned to Vietnam on his second visit. He is an art enthusiast and had just seen the news about the newly released Hollywood blockbuster, Kong - Skull Island. The movie, filmed in multiple locations throughout Vietnam, inspired him to come and discover destinations such as Ninh Binh, Quang Binh, and Halong Bay. Movie Landscapes We booked the trip through a luxury cruise company for a 2-night escape into Bai Tu Long Bay. We ordered a private car from Hanoi, although a shuttle limousine is provided if needed. We had a special request which was to climb to the top of Bai Tho Mountain and to see the Dragon’s Eye Islands, and take an expedition to experience the places in the Kong movie. Thibault wanted to cruise on Bai Tu Long Bay which is adjacent to, but smaller and quieter than its more famous neighbor, Halong Bay. Bai Tu Long is a hidden gem, and its beauty surpasses that of Halong in my opinion. The name means ‘the place where the dragon children descended.' Rich in biodiversity, and blessed with a spectacular landscape, the Bay is dominated by thousands of limestone karsts and islets which rise out of the water. Dotted with floating villages, unspoiled beaches, caves, grottoes and tiny coves, here you can hide and be Robinson Crusoe for a day.

We had an amazing experience at Vinpearl. I also used their spa service and Thu Hien was really nice and gave me a very relaxing massage. The staff here is also very nice, Thu also gave us a very nice experience and ensured that we were served well. I recommend everyone to go for this hotel. It is worth every penny you spend here.

The furniture is really interesting me, I hear that most of them were actually belong to the Emperor. They even teach Vietnamese Martial Art for me. But what makes me surprise is that they fished some fresh seafood right before my eyes because of the dish I ordered wasn't available. I will come back, definitely. It is amazing to be an Emperor

We thought this hotel was tired and needed an upgrade and then discovered it was only 6yrs old. The grounds, beaches and ferry back and forth were great. The pools were superb but freezing at this time of year, invigorating though. The rooms seemed tired, as did the décor throughout but possibly just style preferences. Beds were comfy, showers lovely. Staff were fabulous. Buffet breakfast was usual good standard but European food for dinner, we thought, was only on room service, have since been advised The Pavilion restaurant was open. All we have visited in this 2weeks have been SO quiet, felt like ghost resorts and towns. I wonder how they survive but it seems they’re all in it together and own bits of each other so no doubt they will, thank goodness. I take videos not photos so not much to upload

We were blown away at the level of service and attention to detail. Wow! No complaints, just super impressed- you will not be disappointed staying here at all. Restaurant is a bit pricy, but understandable. Breakfast buffet is outstanding. Good job and what a commitment to excellence Vinpearl. Will stay here again next time in ha long!

This resort is definitely designed for guests to stay on resort grounds during their visit since you have to take a boat to get to the island. The speed boats run every 20 minutes so it's not a big issue, but certainly not walking distance to a busy part of town like near Sun World. The rooms were decent except you can hear every noise in the hallways. I only noticed this because I was up all night one night with food poisoning I'm certain it came from the room service ordered beef burger. We always try to keep it quiet as possible in hallways and common areas in the evening and early morning, but at least on our floor past midnight kids were running all around from room to room screaming. The swimming pool is nice looking, and the beach too. I think the pool(s) needs to be cleaned, I touched below the swim up bar stools by accident and it was mushy and black stuff came off and was floating in the pool. I didn't touch there again. The staff and service was great and very friendly. It's strange we had to pay before we left the island, it felt like they thought we wouldn't pay our bill. We had to keep credit card receipts for deposit and payments as proof we paid. I guess they had guests not pay. Odd.

(Translated by Google) Emperor Cruises is ideal when you choose for yourself a resort with high quality service, luxurious style designed in royal style inspired by the life of Emperor Bao Dai. Experience a vacation on Bai Tu Long Bay (Ha Long) in a space that seems to be for the upper class only, there are not so many options like Emperor Cruises.

I and my wife are treated as Emperors since the moment we stepped in the Dcar limousine. There are a lot of activities on board and we barely can ask for any service without additional charge. The cabin is luxurious, the side view is stunning and the food is awesome. Thank you for so much fun

I was a little ill when we started the trip, but the spa on the cruise had solved it all. They have a night performance with violin and it is amazing. I really love violin.

I love their services, it makes me feel like I am a queen. They even offer a butler to take care of me the whole trip and cook the fresh fishes they fished in the morning for lunch. I loved that dish and immediately sent a compliment to the chef.

Excellent prime location if you enjoy an affordable stay, but also like opulent decadence. The staff is very helpful, always smiling friendly, and everyone speaks English surprisingly well. With Vietnam being well grounded in food culture, the breakfast buffet is an absolute exponent of said culture. The phơ and bằnh cuốn have the authentic Vietnamese flavor and the rest of the dishes are of equally high quality. The beds are the softest ones I have encountered in Vietnam, where the standard is a much harder bed, but these ones take the cake. Dinner in the Pavilion restaurant was an experience I will remember a long time, in a positive way. The French chef himself even came to our table to tell us everything we wanted to know about the food, and it was clear that this was a chef who knew what he was doing. The Dutch manager was a very friendly guy who made sure all our needs were catered for, even going out of his way to accommodate an extra family member. The swimming pool (with water at a therapeutic 31 degrees C) is beautiful to behold and has a well-stocked pool bar where you can order a nice cocktail while sitting in the water. 10/10 would come here again!

Overall, the staff was very welcoming and what I loved most about this hotel was the food.-pretty diversified However if you compare the rooms to European standards I’d say that the design of the room and its amenities are decent, however they aren’t precise about its cleanliness.

Truth be told, I had a fantastic time while staying here. Staff was extremely professional and attentive. We were here while in Vietnam for our honeymoon. Buffet food was superb and staff was quick to accommodate any and all needs. We had a private dinner on the beach however which didn’t look as advertised. Although it was enjoyable, it was still a letdown. My wife was unfortunately disappointed as she was in hopes to have a romantic dinner and it was anything but. Lighting, food was average during the private dinner event on the beach. That being said, I can easily recommend this hotel to my fellow travelers. Really fun staying on a private island. The tour service (ask for Cuc) was also amazing. She organized a private boat tour for us just one day before asking date. Thank you Cuc

After 2 weeks travelling around Vietnam we booked 2 nights here as are at at the end of our holiday. The resort is extravagant and very beautiful. The views are great. We had an ocean view room with a balcony looking out over the pool and ha long bay which was fantastic. The breakfast was ridiculously good. absolutely huge and so much choice. The pool was great so were the sauna and steam room. The jacuzzi was cold during our time there The hotel is isolated (boat ride from the mainland although well connected) and everything at the hotel very expensive for Vietnam. We thought it was wrong that they charge to use the paddle boards, bikes and kayaks. The water in ha long bay is dirty so we didn’t swim at the beaches around the island. Our stay was super relaxing and just what we needed after a hectic and very hot 2 weeks.

If you’re looking to treat yourself or your family to a great resort in Ha Long Vinpearl is where it’s at. Great buffet options, private beach, and three large pools (two outside with pool bar and food, one inside heated). Similar to another review, it did feel like a ghost town considering how beautiful the location is. Being from Canada, even though we thought it was too cold to go in the pools for February, sitting by them in the sun looking out at the islands with a super tasty mango smoothy was awesome. We’ll look to be back when it’s a bit warmer next time. As for the staff, they were all super friendly! Not all speak English, but every time we tried to get some help they would get someone who spoke half-decent English and always came through with our requests.

It was our first time to Ha Long Bay and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to enjoy our stay here in this part of Vietnam. From the AMAZING breakfast options to the view of the islands from our room to the iconic spa experience to the helpfulness of the tour desk for our Ha Long tour, we were given a state of the art experience. Room service + dinner options were incredible, and the customer service of this staff is hard to beat. We felt like true royalty on our trip and have no doubt that we would stay here again on a future visit. 10/10 recommend this resort experience — you truly get a luxurious vacation experience.

During our stay my partner fell ill with food poisoning and had to be taken to hospital. The staff were extremely helpful and genuinely caring about her health, organizing taxi's, bringing water and food to the room and checking up on her health multiple times to see how she was feeling. Cannot recommend the resort enough, the staff, amenities and overall experience was simply amazing.

Excellent resort. You feel pampered. Excellent view from room. Rooms are superb. Overall resort is superb. They got hot water swimming pool, bar, lavish dining area, ultra lavish lobby, excellent service. We got typical Indian vegitarian food because they had new chef appointed from India. Mr. Javed. Thanks bro for excellent food service specially made for us. Enjoyed our stay.

The hotel itself is quite stunning as you arrive but that'sabout it. The place just seems so big and it doesn't have much soul. We have stayed at lots of 5 star hotels throughout our 3 weeks in vietnam and this was by far our LEAST favourite. The restaurant "Akoya" served such average food but charge an absolute fortune for it. The buffet dinner from the other restaurant was also very over priced and so basic. For some reason when we checked in we were required to pay a 4million VND deposit for our mini bar (which had no alcohol in it) and other in-hotel expenses. This seems so clunky to me as a 5 star hotel to do that. I've not experienced that before. There's no shop or convenience store on the island and you only get allocated 2 water bottles per room per day and if you request more its over $3AUD per bottle. Overall the place was just not to our liking, we are a couple in our 30s looking for a fun experience and this place just doesn't cater for that, the hotel management need to re assess their policy, maybe put some alcohol in the reception bar at the ferry terminal. It all just looks so bland.

Poor service from the hotel. They couldn’t find our booking with Agoda for two hours. They blamed everything to Agoda but at the end we found out that they cancel us last minute to host a wedding event without informing us early. Totally ruin our holiday mood for it’s selfish business strategy!! Do not suggest to stay with this hotel as they will cancel your confirmed room booking which you have paid if you are unlucky that day!!

Awesome. Highly recommend it. Staff are very polite and, fast anf helpful. Service is brilliant . Delicious breakfast. We had Buffet menus one night and it was served at the table. The quantity and quality of the Buffet was very good. Much cheaper than other countries. Kids club is very clean good. Can't wait to come back.

We came across this hotel by chance and went for lunch. The reception and staff were absolutely lovely from the beginning. We were welcomed warmly and treated with the utmost respect whilst we were in their resort. We were given a guided tour and then dinned in the A la Carte restaurant. The food was delicious the wine excellent and again we were made to feel really special with the attentive staff. Thank you for making our trip a very memorable one and we look forward to returning with our family. Special thanks to Chang for looking after us and making sure our time there was special. Thank you.

This place is like a dream come true. Absolutely stunning island with amazing views to Ha Long bay. Luxury finishes all around the building and the rooms. There's 3 beaches, 2 massive outdoor swimming pool and 1 indoor swimming pool. Spa, gym, kids club, business centre... We treated ourselves with a massage at the Spa and it was amazing, we felt like new after the treatment. Everything has been excellent. The private boat transport, the room service, the concierge, breakfast... I 100% recommend it. We felt spoilt, and mostly, we enjoyed our stay so much we are definitely going to come back as soon as we can. The beds are really comfortable, there's 4 different restaurants you can have lunch/dinner, there's a kids club you can leave the kids, there's tennis courts, there's even basketball hoops in the swimming pool. The pictures don't do justice. Give yourself the best treat and book a stay here, you will never regret it. It has been the highlight of our 11 day Vietnam trip.

Hotel was very nice and clean. The breakfast buffet was also good, and the spa services were amazing. The only thing we had an issue with was room service - they served us raw chicken satay skewers on two separate dishes, and didn't seem to know how to handle the response.

We had a short stay at Vinpearl Halong bay. The resort itself is beautiful and secluded on a small island. Being away from mainland has its own advantage, the facility is immaculate with exquitsite decoration. Service is superb and most importantly, all the in house restaurants serve the most amazing authentic northern dishes. This resort definitely deserves 5 stars rating. We wish we had more time to stay!!!!

This hotel has the wow factor! Our whole stay was very enjoyable and service was lovely. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, you could have pretty much anything you wanted. My only suggestions would have been a water dispenser in the hotel to refill reusable bottles. I also think the spa needs anti slip mats as this was a bit dangerous when wet.

My stay at Vinpearl Resort & Spa Hạ Long was nothing short of extraordinary. The resort's breathtaking location overlooking Hạ Long Bay added to the overall charm of the experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. The resort itself is a true paradise, with beautifully landscaped gardens, pristine pools, and direct access to a private beach. The rooms were spacious, elegantly furnished, and offered stunning views of the bay. The dining options were diverse and of exceptional quality,

Booked as part of an event being hosted by the hotel. We spent two nights at the VinPearl and it is one of the best hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at. The welcome in the mainland lobby was wonderful and the staff accommodated us by making our room available for us sooner than expected. The hotel is decorated beautifully, and the ferry transfer to the island is seamless. The staff are kind too. Bed and bathroom amenities were great, including the robes, slippers and beach flip flops. The room was comfortable and had a great view of the beach. The hotel offers a great spa service for extra cost however it is well worth it. The breakfast was great and provided a wide variety of foods to choose from. The pool and private beach were the highlights of the stay. It was absolutely unreal and serene. A true paradise. I hope to be back very soon.

This is a beautiful hotel. The staff are very friendly. Not hundred per cent happy with the food on offer. The steak and seafood restaurant was closed and there is a limited choice of wine anywhere in the hotel. In the main buffet restaurant although there was a lot on offer the selection was not very desirable. For breakfast one morning we both had eggs Benedict. The egg was hard-boiled and had been hanging around for a while. The fruits and desserts were good. The other restaurant does not offer a lot of selection and food basic. Drinks took far too long to be served in the bar and beach bar. 1/2 hour is too long to wait. This is only constructive criticism. The room was beautiful and the view was excellent.

One of my favourite resorts!! wow… honestly… the staff, food, pool, spa! We really enjoyed our time here & will be back in future. Thank you very much!! Make sure to get a massage whilst your here, probably the best we’ve had in Vietnam, professional & clean!

  • 4/5 Richard T. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely hotel in its own private island with ferries to the mainland every 20 mins, 24h a day. Great facilities but pretty deserted during the days we were there until the weekend when it got much busier (it was a holiday weekend). We’d had a couple of weeks travelling extensively so was a good pause for a bit of a rest. Pools and spa all great and staff were really friendly and helpful. Couple of negatives, buffet breakfast really excellent (and included in our stay) but buffet dinner, whilst also excellent was 800,000 per person which was far more than we paid anywhere else in Vietnam. There are no cheaper options other than to go to the mainland (which is pretty easy, but we’d originally planned just to stay at the hotel to relax). Secondly the beach had a range of equipment on display, paddle boards, banana boats, jet skis and even a water jet pack / fly board - but none of it currently available for use by guests as they were trialling it all ! We watched the staff use it all and it seemed a lot of fun, shame we weren’t allowed to have a go.

It was the best experience in Vietnam. In the past few years we've tried quite a few cruises. Emperor was the best, with full board and unlimited drinks, it is just a dream, VIP service, staff is just amazing, the best to go for 3 nights, then they will take you to the best hidden and less touristic places. In our last visit to Vietnam we started our trip with Emperor and in the end of the trip we decided to go again. And honestly i cannot wait to comeback there one day and take my parents there. The staff i would like to thank for all their efforts are Jasmin, Tuyen, Po, Chris,Mun,Long and all the cefs! And all the other team members!

“I have no words to describe how amazing our experience was at Halong Bay with Emperor Cruises. This cruise company is proper luxury with a 7* standard. They made our experience on the majestic Halong Bay truly mesmerising! The cruise ship itself is like a floating Vietnamese palace, with such a royal set up that really resembles what Vietnamese Royalty must live like. Their timings were so perfect, punctual and the activities planned out in the day were incredibly fun. We loved every minute of it from the out of this world food served, the tea ceremony, kayaking, squid fishing, spring roll making, visiting the local caves and fishing villages and just simply relaxing in the private (spectacular) rooms and private deck. Thank you for the best experience ever! We will never forget this! It’s the best thing we’ve ever done – even beating our experience in the Maldives (which takes a lot to beat)! I would recommend 300%”

The experience with this company has been a disaster. At the begging because they didn't answer my emails for one month, so until the day before of the cruise we didn't know where they are going to pick up us (40$ each person). And at the end, we took the transfer from Hanoi to Halong bay (more than 3 hours) and when we arrived at Halong they told us that the wheater was not ok so we couldn't do the cruise (yes, they said that they didn't know it before, when we actually know that the other companies got the same information from the morning). And for my surprise they asked us to don't do a bad review about them!! We understand that the weather it's not their fault, but thanks for making us lose one day of our holidays (we arrived to Hanoi at 5pm). By the way, the taxi leave us in the middle of anything with all the luggage, because he decided that he didn't want to drive 2-3more minutes.

Nice place, the looks, the feel and approach reminds one of Atlantis at Dubai. High tech, easy check in.. great hospitality.. waiting area is neat and clean- the so called speed boat is actually a good motor boat. The hotel itself was noisy with lots of people in the lobby.. the location is amazing - city on one side, a beach and view of the Halong bay.. the pools are outstanding, rooms are functional and large. The staff can do with little English training. Even basic questions are not answered and can be frustrating.. if you reach at about 12- the waiting time to get your room is also a dampener. However the service is outstanding- one employee Brian made such a difference. Went really out of the way to make sure that we got our cab back to Honoi and helped us with the entire process till we boarded the bus.. outstanding !!

Super friendly and respectful service. But this food is NOT ACCEPTABLE for a 5-star-hotel. We ordered a pizza from à-la-carte-menu and received a bad quality FROZEN PIZZA from the oven, which was recommended by cuisine chef. Never experienced something like that.

We stayed here from 10th to 11th February in Deluxe King Ocean View room. Room was really lovely , clean and nice , we tried to use the indoor pool in the morning which was beautiful however was a bit cold - still winter (they said they will turn the heater on before 7AM. We got there around 7AM and still cold). The SPA was amazing , would love to come back again. We had terrible dinner there, my partner had the worst burger ever in his life. not sure what type of patty did they use ? maybe frozen one? Breakfast service however was bravo! hats off to the morning team. The ferry services were on-time and effective. Overall we had a good stay. Would recommend. Just don't order burger for your dinner.

Good in general, but not worth the extremely high price. Staff generally (including the front desk) could not speak much English, which was surprising for such an expensive hotel. My wife (who is Vietnamese) had to talk to staff (e.g., when we dialed "1" to get extra towels), as they couldn't understand what I was saying in English. Taking the ferry boat to and from the hotel island was time-consuming and not terribly convenient. I was surprised at the lack of coordination of the electric carts that would take the guests from the boat landing area to the hotel--many guests were consistently waiting after getting off the boat, and I would think it would be pretty easy for hotel staff to call ahead to let them know a group is coming and how many people, etc. Staff did not do a good job explaining available amenities, and we were not aware of some while we were there. The hotel itself is very nice, lovely pools and quality amenities. Room was not very large, especially considering how much we paid for it, but it was comfortable and the view of the pools and Ha Long Bay was amazing. The breakfast buffet was quite good, but my wife and her brother (who are from Viet Nam) were not thrilled about the options and the quality of the food. Staff were attentive and friendly in general. The hotel property is quite large, and with limited information provided about the property and amenities, we wanted someone to show us around, so we asked a staff member who told us that someone could take us around. A staff member did end up doing so, but made it clear that he was doing us a favor (despite the obvious tip he was going to get from doing so). He proceeded to zip us around, saying almost nothing about what we were seeing and where we were going. The kids club was great, and our son really enjoyed playing there! A real highlight of the property. The spa was adequate, with friendly staff, but the services were merely fair (especially considering how cheap some of these services are in Viet Nam). The location of the hotel is close to the marina where all of the bay tours depart from, but not close to the "walking street" or many restaurants, which makes it not very convenient. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but if we come back to Ha Long, I'd definitely want to stay at Mường Thanh or something closer to the "walking street", especially considering it'd be quite a bit cheaper to boot.

The service is very impersonal, most of the employees looks like they are very tired and they dont want to work, no smile ... this is not the vibe you wanna feel when on holiday! At the end of the stay we were not even ask how our stay was, just bad service. We had a sign for 6 hours hanging outside our door "Please make up my room", nothing happens. Just after calling the reception something happens. But the communication with almost everyone in the whole hotel is very difficult, because their is no english language skill at all, what a shame for a 5 Star Hotel, when the reception is not able to communicate in english. After we successfully orderd food via room service and we where done with eating, we asked the reception to remove the dishes from our room, answer: put it on the floor outside the room. We did. Nothing happens, we have to put the dirty dish in the middle of the hallway so someone will pick it up. The service is slowly and absolute impersonal and for what we paid not ok... In the description book of the hotel you find a text to the bars. With nice words they describe their bars and that they would have nice cocktail ... the truth is they got 4 classic cocktails on list, and when you ask for a "White russian", they dont know it, ok then go for a milkshake vanilla or strawberry which they got listed in menu, OOH they obly have chocolate. The bartender not even know how to pronounce piña colada, its not an english word xD. So the struggle continues when you try to order a cocktail ... cause no english, no knowlegde. ( @Hotel Management: Maybe you should do some learning lessons for your employees, teaching them the worlds langue, could be helpful). We had buffet, the food was nothing special nor really good. The burger we have orderd came with big slices of cucumber, although we asked them to do a burger without cucumber but they cant even handle such an easy request, what in incompetence for 600 bugs for two nights! Even without cucumber the burger wouöd be very bad, the meat was fried to complete death, long story short, they dont know how to make a burger. The spa matches the already described philosophy of the hotel "quantity over quality", their are just a few treatments, no one is wearing masks ( no one in the hotel at all) and their not doing a health backgroundcheck with the costumer. The room was ok... one door of a wardrobe sounds like terrible door in a old horror movie, we were not able to close the curtains completly so sunlight was streaming in our room, if we want or not. Last evening was the cherry on cream, a big fat cockroach was in our bathroom. Our room was on 5th floor... The only good thing is the location, which is really amazing, but for what a price? Really bad service, bad food, bad Spa, bad cocktails. When the location is everything to you then go for it, otherwise you can save money and go somewhere else.

The resort worths every penny. The room was nice and sparkly clean. We have trouble with one of our kids but the staffs were really helpful. Food was okay because we prefer to explore local cuisines so the staffs also show us some of the best restaurants to visit and help us save money with the transportation. Definitely will comeback next time

Prices are good for private island which include 3 meals/Day buffee.rooms are clean and great view from the balcony. The only thing put me off after whole good time there .it was when we leaving the island .the speed boat delayed and when it come ,ppl pushing each other and tried to get on the boat no queue at all.all the staffs just stand there watching .some groups have elderly and children .they got to move to a side and keep waiting for their turn ...sad Fact in Vietnam .
