I am frustrated and upset having to leave this review because my son loves this program, the instructors, and staff at this location. They are all wonderful, nice, and professional. The one star is because of the billing department. My account was mishandled by them and they will not issue a refund (over $300) instead told me it can only be a credit. It is beyond disappointing - if I cancel my membership then my son is immediately dropped from the program and lose out on Aprils month and apparently my 2 free months I am suppose to get (May and June), due to them not giving me a refund . They do not do refunds even if they acknowledge they were the party that made the mistake. Highly recommend you monitor your account diligently because you will not get any money back - only credits and then have to wait to cancel your membership within the 30 days or you lose out on your money all together. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH YOUR MONEY WITH THEM.

A mother of three kids, I have tried other swimming schools by far this is the best one in the area. For kids and adults. Ms. Jada & Mr. Angelo are excellent instructors. My kids have move up levels and are way more comfortable because of the skills they have learned. They entire staff is kind and they are always so helpful. Good location and great staff!!

It’s a joke, only 5 minutes of swimming lesson per class. Each class is for 30 min and there are 4 children in each class. First 5 min is warmup where all kids are sitting on side and last 5 minutes are free fun in water. That leaves 20 min for 4 children. At this pace I think any child will take couple years to learn. This is an expensive short fun activity but don’t expect any child can learn to swim with so little time. If you’re really serious about your child to learn swimming they will be better off with private classes.

The instructors here are nice. Facility is okay. The program is not designed to get your child swimming in a reasonable time period. If your child has been in the water a number of times and just needs help learning to swim, this program is a big waste of money. They move the children along very slowly and want you to pay them for months and months of lessons. Each lesson is short and your child will get very few repetitions. I don't recommend spending your money on swim lessons here.

We adore British Swim School! I enrolled my son after his progress stalled at other swim programs. After his first class, my son told me he only wanted to go to classes at the new pool. The instructors have been wonderful and are armed with the skills to address my son’s discomfort putting his ears and face in the water. With ongoing classes we have seen him break through his previous blocks to becoming water safe. I am also a fan of the objective-oriented approach for the class levels. It is clear what my son needs to practice to progress and how the skills he is gaining now will provide a sure foundation for more advanced skills in the future.

This review is specifically for the Clifton location. I have both my daughters enrolled for almost a year and have seen so much progress. All the instructors are really good. Angelo is so enthusiastic and patient with the kids. Ty is also very good and I love his energy. Andrea I. Is also a very good instructor and seems very passionate about her job. Yvette is always so helpful and always answers all my questions with a smile. I’ve made many mom friends here too. My kids are happy. Place is clean. Def recommend !

My daughter has been going to British Swim school for 3 months now, and we are amazed with her progress. She started with starfish and quickly progressed to Minnow. With two classes per week, she is able to float on her own and is very confident in water. I would say she has learnt most with Miss. Christina.

My 2&4yr children have been taking swim lessons for a little over a year. While there are times there’s high turn over, I must say some of the instructors are incredible in their attention to each child, working with their skills and generally very attentive and great energy. One teacher in particular, Gianna has taught both of my kids and without fail, each time they had a class with Gianna, they excelled. Thank you Gianna!

I wish I could rate NO STAR. Also, I am obsoletely agree with people who rated this place one start. My experience with this swimming school is the same as others. Before writing this comment here, I waited for 2 months. Email and phone calls don’t work at all. They even blocked my number, when I call with unknown number my call goes through but when I place call in regular way my call gets disconnected. Please see my video or my screen shot. At the end they lied me and never reimbursed my money equal to 4 lesson for my 3 boys = more then $390. It is like stilling customer money and blocking the number for not answering complain calls. Here is my latest emails, no one replied yet: ———— This is follow up email, regarding the issue indicated below. Hope someone will pay attention to this matter. I need school to reimburse payments or reinstate my kids account in order to complete remaining classes. Best regards, Umid Adilov ———— Hi, This is not appropriate at all, I am very disappointed. Monica provided instruction and we clearly talked about "make up classes" from the beginning and we ended up with solution. She confirmed that I will be fine by Oct 20th, and now you or your team telling me that I am completely kicked out. This is completely false based on what we discussed on Sept 22nd I will wait for Monica's return and discuss this mater again. Meanwhile, while I am waiting for Monica to contact me, I will start preparing report or form for this case regarding customer service and unprofessional service issues (like false instruction, over charging, luck of professionalism, facility,..). ——- British Swimming reply—— After few weekes, received review but all fake reply and comment. Please don’t believe to their comment. Why no body contacts me ? You need to return my money $399.

BEWARE- my daughter attended this BSschool for over 2 years and I’ve watched the level of customer service drop year after year. It got to the point where the last 6 months has been hell at the Clifton location. Week after week it’s a new instructor and it’s clear these instructors are leaving for a reason. I inquired and this place doesn’t treat their staff right so why would they treat their customers correctly. The price consistently goes up with poor results. The last draw was when I sent a concerning email about an instructor that was alarming around the little girls, including my own daughter. This concerns email went UNANSWERED for almost 3 weeks and I had to send it 3 different times. I plan to share my unanswered email with the BBB and others because a manager never even seen my concerning email and to date this instructor still works there and NO investigation was even done. I finally gave up because its clear they don’t care and I cancelled my membership. However, it was done 12 hours after the cut off date and after all I went through they refused to provide a courtesy credit. $170 was the refund and after I’ve paid between $140-$170 a month for almost 3 years, no courtesy was extended. Extremely unprofessional customer service, stay away from this company. I will make sure to spread the word so no other parent save the headache and go someplace else.

"Mr. Shy" is by far the best swim instructor we've had.. and we've experienced several at the Clifton location. If there were more instructors like this man.... The learning swimmers would be safer, more confident, and happy with lessons... I vote that Mr. Shy choose the new instructors...

I can only wonder where the 5 star reviews come from. This place gets worse by the day!! Instructors turnovers is insane. The success of the program is based on repetition, but that is hard to achieve without stability! We have been going to the school for almost 2 years and have had enough.

Great swim school that we found after taking our younger kids to the YMCA for years. This school actually pushes the kids to learn at their own pace and only moves them up when they are ready. At the YMCA it was more of a passive approach and each kid seemed to just move up in level even though my kids missed 2-3 classes each season due to illness. We especially like Angelo the swim instructor but the entire team here seems to care and do a great job by our kids . Thank you!

Good place to get your child used to the water and be water safe. Had a few lows in the beginning due to the coach but then the facility in charge Ms.Nicole helped us with a good/calm teacher. Just be sure to pick the right coach for your child. My daughter loves a few teachers at the facility like Ms.Jayda, Ms.Melissa and Ms.Sam who are very calm and friendly and it really helped her a lot. Would be a 5 star but I have given 4 coz of the initial experience and the response on the phone. Would definitely recommend this place.

My son has been coming to British swim school for about 9 months and loves it. The instructors are all great with him even when he’s having a bad day, which anyone with a toddler knows happens often! We looked at other programs and they were all a set number of classes with very limited availability. British swim is great because each class runs several times a week and at various times and it is a continuous program. As soon as he masters the skills of one class, he moves up to the next level which allows him to keep progressing. We are very happy with our choice to come here.

I’ve had a long-standing client relationship with BSS at Clifton and JCC both have the same issues. Inconsistent instructors making the learning inconsistent, cancellations from the sites, poor instruction overall. They have skill sets per level they are supposed to teach your child but months, and years can go by before they actually test your child to move forward. Each time I’ve had to advocate for my child to move on. I’m not the only parent that had to do this. My frustration point hit when (and I watch and record my child’s sessions) there was a skill she WAS NOT TAUGHT and was told she couldn’t move on because she hadn’t mastered that skill. Not because she wasn’t ready but because she’s had a new teacher every few weeks. Her progress is being stunted because of their failure to teach my child properly. I’ve called and tried to solve this, I’ve written the chat on the app and I’ve gotten no response. We’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars over the years for swim lessons for the entire family and have very little to show for it. There’s one teacher who was amazing with my youngest kid and helped her overcome her fear of water. She only gets 5 stars but overall as a franchise, I’m extremely frustrated and would not recommend. They have convenience in multiple locations but it’s the same weak model of instruction and poor business practices. You’d be better to hire a private instructor or a smaller, local swim school with proven results.

I have my two boys enrolled and they love it at BSS. The instructors made them both gain so much confidence and I really like the way they approach teaching each class. I love that if the boys miss a class they have so many available times/dates for a makeup class.

My son has a handicap and this swim school has been very accommodating to his condition. He had learned a lot from their school and he is swimming properly and learning safety techniques. There are only up to 4 kids per class which allows the instructor to really help each student. The only thing I see affects the students negatively is that there is a different instructor teaching the class far too often. I can see that it slows down the learning process. And with my sons handicap it can be annoying

British Swim is a wonderful program with lots to offer. I rated it only 4 stars because they have a heavy turn over of instructors which can be frustrating. Just when you have found 1 you love, a few weeks later that instructor is gone. However, I encourage everyone to enroll their children in swim class and British Swim serves all ages. The facility isn't fancy (Clifton) but it serves it's purpose. The key will be in finding an instructor that is compatible with your child and that's by trial and error. My child began swim class at the age of 3.5 and is now 5 swimming in 12ft deep water like a little fish. The program is effective and that's why I keep her enrolled... year round! (but it's not mandatory) I just personally feel consistency is key.

Please don’t waste your time or money sending your kids here. About a year in a half they were a great swim school. However, recently they constantly have new instructors, untrained!! It’s like a bunch of teenagers talking and playing in the pool while your kid is in the pool doing whatever he/she pleases. This place will hire anyone willing to be in the pool.

My son attends the Clifton branch of British swim school and it’s great! My son loves the classes and the teachers. They are effective and have good energy. The classes are fun and my son always looks forward to class! I’m happy he’s learning here.

I definitely recommend this swimming school to everyone. Matthew is very helpful at the front desk from clifton location. He always ready to answer any questions related to swimming. Hopefully, the institute will recognize Matthew as an employee of the day/month/year. I give a big shout for him.

My daughter is 15 months old and is learning to swim at the British swim school, Jayda her instructor was a thorough professional and kept her entertained while coaching her. Love the format that they have set up for the toddlers. Absolutely recommend British Swim School if you are looking for a fun swim learn and play session.

My two children have been going to British Swim School in Clifton for over a year and a half now and have thoroughly enjoyed their time and have advanced nicely in their swimming abilities. In contrast, I've taken my older child to other swim schools and have not seen the level of progression like I've seen here. The instructors are extremely kind and dedicated to teaching these kids. Orlando, who manages this location, is amazing and has been pivotal in helping my older child move up. They also have wonderful instructors here particularly Alivia, Destiny, Tyler and Melissa - all these instructors have been able to strike that fine balance in pushing the kids out of their comfort zone when they need it but also being compassionate. You can tell that they really care and want to see the kids succeed. Lastly, we've been attending during covid and I'm happy to say that they've tried to make things as safe as possible for employees and customers. I highly recommend British Swim School to all my friends and will continue to do so!
