Excellent weekend drive for yummy idlis and dosa. The people are friendly and welcoming. The masala dosa is heavy, so you can order a mini dosa to enjoy everything. The only thing we missed here was a hot glass of filter coffee!

I recently visited Gangadhar Idli Hotel and here's my experience: Firstly, let me start by saying that their live counter for preparing dosa is quite impressive. It adds an element of excitement and freshness to the experience. The dosa was generously cooked in ghee/oil, which gave it a rich flavour. However, it's important to note that regular consumption of such oily/ghee-laden food may not be advisable for maintaining good health. Hence, I would recommend indulging in it once in a while. The quality of the food seems good, I had the regular idli during my visit and found it like any other hotel in Bangalore. Unfortunately, due to the overcrowded nature of the place, I wasn't able to taste the roasted idli. The popularity of this hotel is evident from the long queues and the difficulty in finding standing space inside. But what sets this place apart is their unique billing system. You can enjoy all the food and pay your bill later, This place operates without any tokens. The friendly your local language touch, the quicker you get served, which is quite convenient in a good way! I must appreciate the polite and patient nature of the staff, considering the uncontrollable crowd. They actually don't have any medium or steps to control the chaos well but people themselves stay calm. The hotel staff are politely without showing any signs of frustration. However, I would suggest avoiding this place during weekends unless you're prepared to wait for more than 30 minutes for a dosa and 15 minutes for a regular idli. Overall, Gangadhar Idli Hotel is worth a visit every now and then. Just remember to be patient and brace yourself for the crowd if you choose to go. The taste of their dishes and the unique billing system make it a distinctive dining experience. Give it a try! 🍽️👌😊

A popular place for idlis and dosE. It gets crowded soon and stays that way. The service is lovely. Instead of pay and eat, they ask you to eat your food, remember what you ate and charge accordingly. Such trust is really appreciated :) their gigantic, soft thatte idlis are flavoured with sabsige soppu. The process of making dosE (two people pouring ghee in tandem) is a joy to watch. The chutneys are kept in small buckets for ppl to take. Same for sagu also. Good food, lovely vibe, reasonable prices!

Awesome idly, chatni, saagu and masala dose. I love the chatni taste here more than anything. Fried ghee idly is a special dish to try. Generally a great place for breakfast to visit with friends and family. Masala dose is must try.

Can be accessed through Shimoga ring road in Tumkur, traffic signals🚦 are indicators to take either right or or left. Prices are moderate and following items are available Roast Idli Mini Masaale Ghee roast Dosa Chow Chow Bath Rice items We had to wait for more than 30 minutes to get one Masala Dosa- the taste was much similar to any of Darshini's in BLR or Tumkur. We really enjoyed Kesari bath as the same was smooth and hadn't immersed in ghee or oil. Parking could be an issue on weekends. I really don't think it is worth travelling from farther distance to eat mushy idlis ans Dosa's baked in ghee. All you could feel is just the aroma of ghee !

This hotel is very good. If you want to tryout our local flavour tatte idly and Vada it is a must visit place. I ate this taste of idly during my college days in 2003. Definitely you will enjoy this food. Only problem is self service during weekends and holidays. Lot of parking place is there for cars.
