Like user Avoid AART I also experienced some very alarming treatment at this clinic, that resulted in: ~ Not receiving standard care ~ Having to personally push to receive standard care ~ Receiving substandard care for whatever treatment that was given to me (which was not much) ~ Not following up from tests in appropriate ways ~ Misrepresenting test results ~ Making tests difficult to access or difficult to withstand. I have since left AART and got care in Montreal. The level of care in Montreal was outstanding. There is simply no comparison to AART. I do not know if all people receive such treatment, or if there was bias on my RE to not provide me appropriate care. I do know that I was under AART's care for over a year and didn't get the tests that I received within the first 20 minutes of my intake appointment with my clinic in Montreal. I would seriously consider going to another clinic. Even the wait times are quicker! I was able to refer myself to my clinic in Montreal, get an intake appointment, and move onto IVF cycle within weeks. Getting my intake appointment from AART took 9 months. I would never choose to wait the time I did for AART to receive the level of care AART provided me. Update: I was contacted by AART to address some of my concerns. When I insisted to have all communication be written through email, they withdrew their offer to work through my issues. My opinion of businesses that refuse to communicate in writing is not favourable, it makes it seem like the business wants plausible deniability if you were to ever report their practices. So, my 1 star rating remains and I believe very warranted. Update 2: My clinic in Montreal helped me to have my son! I had a relatively easy pregnancy and welcomed my son in April of this year. I donā€™t regret leaving AART at all and encourage everyone who is debating leaving AART for another clinic to do just that.

I experienced many of the same problems that others here have described. This clinic wasted a year of my fertile time. I had not read the google reviews before we contacted this business. I recommend if you have the money, to seek help in Montreal. If you have the money to do this, donā€™t even hesitate. Covid complicates this, but do not waste your time with this clinic. I was not diagnosed properly by AART, my hirsutism was quite obvious. I was never asked about it, though they claim I was. They made assumptions about my partnerā€™s prostate. He has no problem with his prostate. This was the most disappointing and disturbing medical experience I could imagine. I went to a Montreal clinic and was properly diagnosed within 10 minutes of meeting my doctor. A follow up appointment in Montreal revealed the Montreal doctorā€™s diagnosis was correct. 3D ultrasound existed within the Montreal clinic. Nova Scotia does not have a 3D ultrasound ANYWHERE. For any amount of money. In the end, my Montreal doctorā€™s diagnosis led me to understand that I had a hormone imbalance that was hard to diagnose. She was reassuring and said my chances for natural pregnancy would be just as good as with invitro, and that my egg reserve is that of a woman in her 20s. My Montreal doctor gave me hope, the truth and a proper diagnosis. As well as timely service and top quality diagnostic equipment. Something that is not available in Nova Scotia, sadly. AART effectively did the minimum amount of work and made incorrect assumptions that were basically a dead end. I believe that they donā€™t want clients who are women in their 40s, so they dissuade them as much as possible from assisted reproduction so that the clinicā€™s ā€œrate of successā€ is artificially elevated. They should be investigated in my opinion. If this is the best that Nova Scotia has to offer, itā€™s very very sad. Stay away from this clinic.

The staff are nice, but the treatment and protocol was so damaging. We didnā€™t even end up with a single embryo and was told we should do a donor egg cycle. I had to wait 3 months to even get a lousy phone call explaining why my cycle failed so miserably. I was severely misdiagnosed and left completely broken with no real diagnosis or direction. It is also much more expensive then other clinics. Would not recommend at all.

Terrible services and awful experiences with AART. 1, Even though I explicitly stated my medical condition, it takes 5 months for them to inform me the last minute that they are incapable to deal with my sample after all the paper/blood work and consultant sessions have been done. Even I have been charged the upfront fee and instructed by them how to make shipment arrangement of my sample. It turns upside down all of sudden. 2, They don't provide any direct contacts for us to talk to a specific doctor (even the assigned one), a nurse and the admin team. It makes the communication very unclear and ineffective. e.g., the doctor just sent us an email through the admin; the nursing team didn't let us know whether or not they received health documents; the admin team didn't or forgot to upload the basic documents to our file. 3, The fees they charge are more expensive than other clinics for such lousy and unprofessional services. Overall, definitely won't recommend it to anyone. Don't waste your time, energy and money on them for such important and life-changing process.

This system is overwhelmed, I never received adequate service, waste of money and time... Do yourself a favor, take your money and go to another province to receive a decent service. I had a horrible experience in this centre that will hunt me for the rest of my life :(

I really wanted to take the time to share my positive experience, because while I was waiting to be accepted as a patient, I read multiple negative reviews that scared me. I felt like once I was in, it was a well-oiled machine - I mean this in a good way. Everyone had the same knowledge and information and there was a clear plan in place for my IVF journey. I was in an easy to follow schedule of appointments while in active treatment, and the nurses overseeing my care always greeted me with kindness and optimism. I actually was previously misdiagnosed at the IWK, and received a proper diagnoses at the AART. During the 2 weeks leading up to my egg retrieval, I would go in every other day for blood work and a scan and I would be in and out fast, with timely results. The pharmacist, Al, was OUTSTANDING with explaining the injections, and was so patient with us when we first started. All of the nurses were very fast to answer my many, many, many questions through their portal messenger, and would call me any time I requested a phone call. My appointments were always on time, and although ALL of the nurses were fantastic, I have to especially shout out Una, whose kindness helped tremendously during a very emotional process. The embryologists work very hard, and it was interesting to see them working on my eggs, through a glass partition, during my egg retrieval. I had timely communication with embryo results, and the staff always treated me with sensitivity. I opted for a fresh transfer on Day 5. The OB made it the most memorable experience. She was cheerful and made me feel like she was genuinely excited for me - not at all jaded from doing this for numerous women. I was extremely lucky in having a successful transfer, and was discharged after my 8 week scan. I only have 2 small cons - the first being that with IVF pregnancies, spotting is very common, and there was a time where my spotting was heavier and I requested to come in for a scan (at 6 weeks) and was denied. I was told itā€™s too soon to see anything, but I had read so many posts online from women in other parts of Canada that had similar scares and did go in for a scan and receive reassurance. I know that a scan canā€™t stop a pregnancy loss from happening, but it can provide immense relief when everything is ok. My second recommendation to better improve the facility would be for the capability of in-house HCG testing. They have the lab capability to measure other hormone levels during IVF but for HCG I had to go through the government blood labs which often are fully booked, and make it difficult to get an apt when you need one. That being said, I still confidently give this clinic FIVE stars, and if youā€™re waiting to get in, I hope this review reassures you that you may also have an amazing experience with great results. Wishing everyone good luck on their journey

They take forever to get back to you. Iā€™ve been ā€œworkingā€ with them for over a year. We had sperm shipped to them for insemination and only today did they say that my partner needed to be tested and made them fill out forms related to carrying even though my partner isnā€™t the one carrying and has gone through menopause. No human of 50, is trying to have a child right nowā€¦ Itā€™s myself who is carrying. So yes, theyā€™re holding the sperm I already paid for hostage and are refusing to give it to me because THEY FORGOT to inform us about the blood test my partner needed AND didnā€™t put my partner on the portal until today. Also, the lines on my ovulation test are the strongest theyā€™ve ever been and we are completely ignoring that apparently. Way to ruin Christmas.

I have love working with Dr Cockwell. She did my follow up after our failed transfer and she has been with us for every appointment since then. She did my surgery and she is just so lovely to talk to and I feel like she really cares about us. Nurse Una has been the best support system. She is there to answer any and all questions, she calls anytime I feel like I need to talk to someone and I feel like she genuinely cares about our success in having a child.
