Bad service. A lot of rude ER staff. Felt like having the history of addiction I was judged without being listened to. A doc finally listened to me when I refused to take the patient home,( BF), because he wasn’t any better after a blood transfusion. He watched him for half hour and agreed they should admit him. He was there for a weeek getting vitamins. Nurses had made the docs believe he was doing fine throughout visit so he first went with that. Alls well that ends well

These guys work hard under extremely stressful conditions and take a lot of rudeness and drama from the people they serve. I feel incredibly fortunate to have them there, and have always been impressed with the care I've received, ESPECIALLY given the conditions they work under. Yes, once in a while you get a grumpy one or a snotty doctor. These are HUMANS, after all, and this job breeds burnout. Not only that, these guys specialize in protecting your health, not your ego. If you want someone to charm you, go pay $100K for your care in the US. And when was the last time you got better service from some person in a comfy chair at your insurance company? Under the circumstances, I'm impressed with our healthcare professionals. Also, they are EMERGENCY professionals, NOT a family doctor replacement, so don't go there expecting that kind of long term service. If you have a medical history with a recurring issue, you need longer term care with a specialist in that problem, not someone who specializes in immediate care. In ER the goal is to get you stabilized. They don't have the time, the resources or the training to solve longterm problems. If they make you wait, it's because someone else was in more immediate danger than you, and if that causes you lose or pain, it's unfortunate, but it's not because they are slacking off.

They scammed me of $3000(for two visits by scam) . I had a small allergy for which treatment is not really necessary . But if I have my insurance I thought I will go. I don’t know the expiry of it. They lied to me that my insurance pre covered my bill and I have taken the emergency walk-in. I asked explicitly about its validity and anything I need to pay. Even though they already have my insurance linked to my profile. They said we have linked and everything is covered you don’t have to pay. They sent the bill to my house after 1 week. I was shocked to see the bill of $3000 I was actually broke without any job. It landed me in a big trouble. Don’t go to this hospital until it’s absolutely life threatening or get scammed. I’ll update this review if I get any help.

Security here were very rude to my mother after we were trying to call a cab for her. She asked one gent sitting on his lazy backside and playing on his cellphone if he could call her a cab, he said no! The phones we were directed to, didn’t work at all!

I experienced a nightmare here a few years ago (pre-pandemic), which I'm finally ready to share. First, I went to emergency with severe abdominal pain, waited six hours just for the doctor to do nothing but suggest antacids. I returned days later with a note coming from my own family doctor, which stated that I needed EMERGENCY SURGERY (as he quickly and accurately diagnosed me). But when I went again to the hospital, the doctor let me writhe in agony for hours while he would periodically enter the room, scratch his head, and conclude that nothing was wrong with me and that it was all in my head. This whole time, I could do nothing but politely and plainly explain my symptoms to him. I was helpless. (And where was the note from my family doc!?) He even smugly suggested that I go home (where I would have died that night). Things got even worse with that particular doctor, and later, some nurses. (Stories that are too long and private to describe here, lasting right to the very end of my time in this funhouse-of-horrors.) I left a couple of days later, miraculously post-surgery, which was like being tossed onto a conveyor chopping block and spat out the other end.

Emergency is overfull, the doctors are not thourough, some people are not being taken seriously and being sent home, the lack of empathy in that area of the hospital is abysmal and the wait times are horrible. I would give a 1 star or lower for that area of the hospital. On the other hand, in the minor procedures area, I am giving ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because of the wonderful patient and calming bedside manner of the neurologists and the nurses that we there to help me. Shout out to Lucas, Kathy, Dr. Jackson-Tarlton and Dr. Bibic.

i’ve never seen a hospital that lacked such common sense in the medical field. asthmatic having an asthma attack, the wait was completely unacceptable and when we did get in for treatment they just gave him a puffer and sent him on his way. HE HAS ASTHMA THEREFORE HE HAS A PUFFER! if he could solve the problem with a puffer we wouldn’t have been here!! never experienced such incompetence as i have the two times we have gone to QE11 for this issue and both times they would just give him an inhaler WHICH WE ALREADY HAD and sent him on his way. won’t be wasting our time here anymore

Absolutely impossible to get a hold of anyone. I call every hour every day during their office hours and it goes to the receptionists voice message. They don’t call you back. I’m extremely frustrated. I’ve left 3 voice messages and nobody calls back. I’ve been told my my coordinators to just go to emergency instead.

The emergency room staff weren’t very nice at all and they gave me a prescription for something that I’m allergic to (I told them what I was allergic to, they had my allergies). The pharmacy caught the error before filling the prescription and got it replaced with one that won’t cause my throat to close. The triage nurse didn’t listen, she didn’t write down all my symptoms. And the waiting room was loud and it was overwhelming my senses but when I asked for cotton balls for my ears to help with the sounds I was told no, I didn’t need them. The security guard was nice, he got me something for my ears. The medical staff weren’t very compassionate.

No antibiotics prescribed for an exposed skull wound on My head that needed 8 stitches and took them 8 hours to finally sew me up. Also took them 8 hours to give me any pain medication for a bad nightstick fracture. Now it's infected and I have yet to hear from them with a follow up. Do yourself a favor and go to IWK or any other hospital.

Definately one of the worst hospitals. On a day it wasn't remotely busy I still waited over 10 hours to see someone in emergency. What a joke.

I'm currently in the QE2 awaiting surgery, I have been here over a day at this point and have not received an update on delays for the surgery , or food and trying to get an update on either has proven impossible. I will say the nurses have been polite and professional but it seems even they don't have any answers. ( now at 8 pm they tell me surgery is tomorrow at the earliest, and oh yes all the food services and shops that sell food are now closed so no food for you....)

The nurses and doctors were extremely kind and comforting in the ER. I was checked in and seen by a nurse and a doctor within 20 minutes of entering the building. They ensured that I did not leave the ER until I had received the best treatment possible. Overall 10/10 experience. I will go back to this ER if I ever need to again.

The staff on 7.4 are highly complacent, leaving my mother to sit in her own matter for over three hours is completely unacceptable! At 84, she has mobility issues, and called the nurse for assistance and was made to wait! Things need to start changing otherwise there be repercussions. Get off your lazy arses and get the job done! But in a timely manner, think of seniors and those requiring assistance not three hours wait!

The doctors are informative and helpful. If your appointment is later in the day, be prepared for a wait. Wheelchairs are available at the entrance, if needed and masks, if you forgot yours.

We had urgent medical tests needed and all appointments were booked. We didn't have to wait, it was very efficient and didn't take up our whole day. Now the Emergency department is a different story. I have found the staff to be very rude and disrespectful, I had to ask for one nurse not to come back to my room because of her attitude and treatment towards me. Was unprofessional and gave me hematomas on both my upper arms by tying the band too tightly for blood work. She is only to make 2 attempts because getting help with blood work, however, she kept sticking me and it hurt. Finally the professionals came in and one stick and they had the blood work needed and told me I shouldn't have hematomas on my upper arms. They took months to go away! Emergent or not, unless you are dying or bleeding out or can't breathe be happy to wait 18-20 hours for treatment even if very I'll and in a lot of pain. The ambulance will get you in no faster, you will lay on their stretches in the hallway. Or you sit and wait. I know the staff is working hard, but that is no excuse to be rude or hurtful to patients. Especially when if you say anything offensive you can be kicked out. Well don't harass your patients either! What's our recourse and we are the ones who are sick. I know they are under staffed and work long shifts and it's unfair, but when you enter this profession you know what you are signing up for, primary patient care. And when people are sick and don't feel well, they are not at their best. However, being rude or disrespectful is not acceptable on either end. I have always been polite and respectful but I have not been shown the same level of respect at all. It's not difficult to be kind and if a patient is more than cooperative then there is no need for the disrespect. When it's an emergency, we can't all get dolled up, and Fox out hair or even change our clothes. We have to come as we are. I imagine if I could present myself differently I would receive better care. So even when it's been advised I go to hospital, I avoid it completely, unless it becomes life threatening, because time and time again has shown me how I will be treated.

Long wait, but once we got to see the Doctor and Resident we were so pleased. Dr Dahn did a procedure that another emerge did not want to do. She was efficient, kind and got the job done. Resident Erik is a huge asset to that hospital already! Great bed side manners, caring, observant and an all around good and knowledgeable guy! Keep up the fantastic attitude, Erik!

ER - I will definitely give the staff here a five star but the wait time was unacceptable. Blame the province for this not the staff, they really tried there best to get people through as quick as possible. Spent seven hours in the waiting room after triage, figured my EKG was ok if they let me wait that long. Needless to say after only four hours sleep night before I decided that at 10pm it was time for me to go home without diagnosis or further tests. No food all day, only thing available was junk food from vending machines; was told if you left the area and your name was called you would go to the bottom of list…so home I went. Thankfully I’m still alive this morning to tell story. There was some people who were there for 12 hours and were still there when I left 😳😞

Honestly I was impressed and gladdened by the level of service the emergency room provided. I used the new NS Telehealth website for my issue, since I am one of the people on the waiting list for a primary care doctor. The Telehealth response was to go to the emergency room, they thought I might have a blood clot in my leg. I went to QEII at noon on a Friday. Was admitted, waited, had bloodwork done, that was analyzed, had an ultrasound done, and they determined that no, I did not have blood clot. Whole thing took about 4 hours, which was well worth it. Everyone was kind, friendly and professional. Thank you to the staff at QEII!!! You guys are doing it right!!!! :-)

Horrible staff. My name was called, I didn't make it to the door in time so they shut it in my face and made me wait again. I had a lumbar punture, which caused extreme pain. I would think twice before getting any treatment at any Nova Scotia health. I am going to have to move to get healthcare in the province.

👍👍 Excellent staff! A huge thank you from Toronto to all the staff particularly of the 7th floor for going above and beyond in assisting my mother ( Carol ) after her lumpectomy surgery and for placing her in a room directly in front of the nursing station. 😐 My Dad has been at Camp Hill residence for veterans for a few years. The place is kept clean. 👍 Great hospital with a lot of elevators and many floors. Residents eat a lot of jello. Kiosk based self check in is wonderful. They keep the cold ones in the basement so unless your appointment is on a bottom floor you should be fine. Talk to you doctor about how to access medical blueberries.
