Absolutely outstanding. I have experienced no finer execution of traditional regional Italian food anywhere in Atlantic Canada. Beautiful inclusion of local artisan cheeses and house made sausages and antipasto. The absolute best trattoria in Atlantic Canada.

Wanted to show this place some love instead of going to the usual players - think bicycle thief etc. - and we were not disappointed! Paul is a wonderful host and lovely to chat to.we were given a flute of Prosecco and a mussel on the house! Nice touch. I had been craving a good bolognese and this hit the spot. We also had the caprese salad (generous on the cheese which is always a plus) and the octopus which was delicious! My husband is gluten free / celiac and he was accommodated easily. Claudio came around at the end of the meal to say hello and show off the homemade sausage headed for the orichiette, rapini and sausage pasta. I recommend this spot to people looking for good quality homemade Italian food.

The Connolli is unbelievable ! Delicious mouth watering authentic Italian cooking. Perfect date night spot.

I’ve gone to this restaurant a number of times - every time is a wonderful experience. The chef (Claudio), the manager (Paul) and the serving staff (huge shout out to Eileen, who is a gem) are delightful and go above and beyond to make your time/meal there incredible. It honestly feels like you’re being fed by family. When you go to Trattoria da Cludio, it is not just a night out, it is a night full of fantastic memories. It is not just a meal, it’s an experience. Can’t recommend enough and look forward to going back soon.

It was our wedding anniversary and we were desperate in looking for a good restaurant, this one DID NOT disappoint. I think we had an amazing culinary experience, yes, that's the best way to put it. The food and drinks were equally great. You can really taste the passion that Chef Claudio put in every course; who, by the way came out to talk to us. He was very welcoming. The music in the background was lovely and the customer service was superb. Overall, I have nothing but nice things to say about this restaurant. It's a hidden gem and a must try. We're definitely coming back. P.S. I wish I had taken more photos but because I enjoyed the food so much, I didn't think of taking more snaps. I just kept on eating. :D

This place will make you feel like you've been a patron for years on your very first visit. Claudio is a magician with his dishes. The food is nothing short of magical. It's my favorite spot in Halifax. 5☆

Claudio is in love with cooking and it shows in the food he prepares. I only had the chance to try two of them, but I can tell that he went to great lengths to select the very best quality ingredients he could put his hands on for his dishes. The dishes were perfectly executed, flavorful and relatively balanced while still having a good punching flavor standing out. The menu might look pricy at first glance, but I can tell that a lot goes into quality ingredients and taking the time to prepare quality dishes, every cent was worth it! It's not only "authentic" and "as good as Italy", it is a good notch above the average Italian restaurant in Italy in my experience.

We came here for our anniversary dinner. The service and the meal were perfect. This is the best authentic Italian restaurant we have found in Halifax. Can't wait to come back!

First, I want to start off with the service. If it was just for the service, I would give this place a Michelin star already. I have been to the high end restaurants in Halifax, and the service we received here was better than most high end restaurants in downtown Halifax. I would say maybe only Barrington Steakhouse being the only other good service one. Having grown up around hospitality and internationally renowned hotels, I can say that this restaurant is an example of how service should be provided. Jason was our waiter, and he perfectly incorporated East Coast hospitality with high end service. (But again, a lot has to do with who is waiting on you) Now onto the food. We got the Funghi Caciocavallo, which came as the perfect combination of king oyster mushrooms and sicilian cheese, bathed in Balsamic vinegar 5/5. We then ordered the Gnocchi Agliate e Frutti di Mare (seafood Gnocchi) and the Ravioli di Pesce ed Asparagi (ravioli stuffed with monk fish and asparagus). The ravioli was great but nothing to blow us out of the water like the appetizer did. We were quite disappointed by the Gnocchi. With only 7-8 gnocchi pieces, we expected it to be the best gnocchi we’ve had. Instead they were too soft and broke apart very easily when maneuvering the plate. I for one loved the excess amount of seafood on the plate. There was a large variety to choose from and a nice mix of flavour between the NS clams and Argentina shrimp. But the taste was just not there, which was largely attributable to the falling apart gnocchis. That being said, the service was the highlight of the night. I truly believe from previous reviews that maybe the gnocchi dish was a one off mistake. I would’ve have mentioned it, but my partner did not want me to, given the level of service we received. As if the service was not enough, they even went out of our way to treat us to some Prosecco and a tiny bowl of Tuna tartar before our appetizer. And THEN, we got a shot of sweet wine to end our night. We will definitely give this place another chance some day.

Excellent Dining Experience: We were a group of four on a Saturday night. We loved our dining experience. The food was amazing! Our server was friendly and attentive. Being Italian, I enjoy eating good Italian food. The chef and owner, Claudio, brings this experience to Halifax. I had the swordfish special (il pesce spada), a traditional Sicilian dish. The others had the ravioli and pasta alla carbonara dishes. Everyone cleaned their plates! It was delicious! We also enjoyed the bruschetta and desserts! I also had a chance to speak to him in Italian. Claudio comes out and greets his guests! In Italian we say, "si mangia bene qui". Grazie mille! Ci vediamo presto!

Excellent excellent! I had the 'Maccheroncini lunghi al ragu bolognese' and the Claudio's pick of the day (see second photo for reference) Both were exceptional authentic Italian food. The Maccheroncini was a perfect al dente! My server was also very friendly. Claudio (owner & chef) even came to check up on the food. This is what separates a good restaurant from an exceptional one.
