Happy to have come across this restaurant. The food was exceptionally delicious. The dishes full of fresh ingredients, rich in flavour, good portion sizes and reasonably priced. It was a pleasure to meet the chef, Simon, as well. He was so friendly and I simply appreciate his passion for cooking good food and having people enjoy it. I will definitely return and recommend others to go when they come to Halifax.

As mentioned in earlier reviews, the chef Simon was very friendly, and the service was very quick, not to mention the food was delicious! I definitely recommend trying the Black Bean Beef!

My partner and I had been looking for a Chinese restaurant with lobster and Simon the owner was so kind to offer to cook lobsters for us if we brought them. Lobster is usually special order and he needs a few days to get the lobster. The green onion and ginger lobster was delicious. We also ordered Cantonese chow mein and the toppings of veggies and meat were so generous. We were so glad to find a restaurant that serves traditional Chinese food. The service was also fast and friendly. Simon shared with us a bit of his chef training and history of Chinese food in Halifax. Definitely our best Chinese food dining experience in Halifax.

Best food on Dalhousie campus by far. Plenty of good options but I recommend the black pepper beef (if you don't mind mushrooms) or the curry chicken.

Owners were very welcoming and incredibly kind to me. The food was spectacular, really above and beyond with fresh ingredients and great spices. This place is a must try!!

They are very friendly. Their meals are flavourful and they give generous portions for each meals. Very close to Dalhousie University. Highly recommended.

Tasty Kitchen is my favourite restaurant in Halifax. I go there quite often, a lot of times with my roommates, and we've had nothing but good to say on about 30+ orders. The food is fresh, quite healthy, and tastes amazing. Service is tremendous as well. I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes (average wait time is probably 5 minutes) and the two owners are extremely friendly.

This is honestly the best Chinese I’ve tried in Halifax. Me and my roomates go here weekly and sometimes multiple times a week. That’s because the food is fresh and tastes amazing and the portions are unreal for the price. Simon and his wife provide the best service by always being really welcoming and friendly. If you live anywhere close to this place and you haven’t tried it out yet you’re missing out.

Great Chinese food the taste is amazing and the people very nice. The Spicy Shanghai noodles are really good we enjoyed it me and my family we came from Timberlea to eat there

Pics might make the food look basic - don't believe it. Fresh veggies, delicious options for vegetarians. Highly recommend the eggplant dish. Yum!

Simon is the nicest guy! His food is all fresh and he uses high quality ingredients in everything. You can taste the difference.

We've eaten here a few times. It's delicious and the staff are great. We'll be back again and again. Thank you for such amazing food.

I want to give four stars instead of three because the quality of the food seemed excellent and the owner/chef was so sweet. But regarding the taste of the food - for me that was about a three or so. Unfortunately we really did not like the egg rolls at all. I understand that the meat paste inside them is a Halifax 'thing' but we did not enjoy the flavour or texture. Had the won ton soup - it was very good! Lots of veggies and the broth and wontons were good. Not a fan of shrimp in my soup but I appreciate the thought. We also had the Tasty Fried Noodles. Hubby loved them - but wasn't a fan of the shanghai noodles. If it said on the menu what kind of noodles, he would have ordered the Cantonese noodles instead. One thing that I have to mention was the bathroom was not clean at all - I am glad I saw it after eating rather than before or else it might have ruined my meal.

Tasty Kitchen is the best Chinese food I’ve had in a real long time. Very hearty and flavourful stuff, you can tell it’s actual food and not just cookie cutter Chinese food. Portions are always big, reasonable prices, and quick. Last but not least, the owner and his family are very helpful and kind folk. Great place.

Got take out and walked back to the IWK to eat it. It was still warm, all veggies were fresh. Ordered 2 orders of dinner for one and a beef dish. Beef was very tender and sauce was flavourful. Would definitely recommend. Very Small place with great fresh food
