I love this place. I loved it when it was on Argyle St and I think I like it more now that it's under the Marquee. Always high quality musical entertainment in the offing. The Seahorse has a vibe all its own - it's just one of those venues. The bar staff were really nice and were quick to sling drinks, and I was also really impressed by the tall dude doing security checking IDs and stuff. I think they're subcontracted (shadow security?) but he was INCREDIBLY polite and professional.

Unprofessional. We were not able to stay too long but the lady who took our cover charge assured us that a band would be on at 9pm. No band came on til 9:40 so we had to leave 5 mins after the show started. Spent 30 dollar cover for 5 minutes of a band. Ridiculous. Am sure plenty of bands in the NS area would have loved to fill that slot. Get it together.

Although the venue was good as well as the customer service, I am very concerned about the fish tank that is downstairs. There is quite a bit of algae build up and although this can supply some food to the fish, it does not create a health environment. Although the fish tank is very aesthetically pleasing, it is important to remember the livelihood and care that is involved in the fish inside of the tank.

The part we went to was the basement. There were several live bands. The music was enjoyable. The beer selection is a little poor, the beer prices are reasonable, and the waitresses were prompt and friendly. The ladies at the coat check were very friendly. I had a great evening and would not hesitate to go back again.

Best live music venue in town only rivaled by the marquee upstairs. Cheap drinks with a good selection of great local craft beers. The layout works perfectly for a music venue and they always have good artists both local and from away. A little divey looking but in a good way.

A fun and hopping place when the band gets started. Reasonably priced beer and very cool dance floor area. In the basement though, try not to get confused by the separate pub upstairs.

The security here is awful, they’re rude and so gross, overcharged me and pocketed my money. . Does not feel like a safe place. I get into the bar and I was spoken down to by the coat check staff, as I walked away they made homophobic remarks, it was hurtful and uncomfortable. Bar staff was alright, this place was just nothing that I would ever recommend to someone staying in Hali for a weekend. It’s unfortunate that they have good shows :-/

The live music is so good! The drummer was killing it. The bartender gets grumpy if you ask for water though.

I came here for a night out from our to of province and the cover charge was $25 for a absolutely terrible dj Their Facebook page was promoting a 90s night that appeared as if it was that night but was the following month in smaller print in a photo for $12. Terrible marketing. Complained and nothing done. Not fun do not go.

The live music along with the vibe of the place changes the whole mood to fills it with exotic next. Interior of the place will make you think for a moment how good thoughts have been put in to put a such a space. Really recommend if you are in Halifax and are looking for more than just a club night, a night filled with the energy of a live band. Don’t miss it and honestly you won’t regret. Great job! People keep the exotic vibe going.

Between the marquee, seahorse, and the local I am never let down coming here. Ive done art battle here multiple times as well as the shrek rave?? Tonight I wanted to order food at the seahorse and the chef was just like "order upstairs ill keep an eye for you down here"!! You have your kitchen doing service? Love this place, I tell everyone its my favourite place for a night out in NS

I lived in Halifax in the 80s, and while this isn't the Seahorse of my misspent youth, it was nice to visit. Still a cool basement bar. We went to see the Babes, Babes, Babes Burlesque show and it was super fun. Great sightlines to a small stage. Good bar, well stocked, bar. Efficient bartenders.

Jess served me, she is an angel- She knew all about what people drinking want. And she offered a straw when I didn’t even ask for one. Also , she was very kind and gave off the best vibes. Way to go Jess! ❤️

They have pretty cool venues. I like this place. Id recommend a bracelet system for their coat check, tickets are too easy to lose believe me 😅

Johnny and Keisha made my night. Such awesome people! They know the true meaning of hospitality. I would recommend the Seahorse Tavern as you first choice for drinks, food, and music in Halifax!

The bar at the Seahorse will overcharge you for your drinks. If I order 6 $4.50 beers (after taxes), I shouldn't be charged 50$. But I was charged that much; by a bald bartender who either can't do basic math or loves skimming customers. Hire staff that won't tarnish your establishment's reputation for having thieves for bartenders.

The Halloween party was really good at the seahourse. Lots of creepy decorations. Lots of people with cool and creative costumes. Really good music with two different options, one being a decent live band. Price was good compared to other clubs. Would recommend.

Wandered in here to do homework when the cafés closed. All the staff were unusually friendly from bartenders to doorman. The place is super spacious so you don't feel you're bumping up against everyone. Cheap pints, friendly environment, a room full of plants, and turns out they have live music most nights a week. Always down to support venues that contribute live music so in other words this place is the best...

Great atmosphere and good selection of beers. On top of that add friendly staff for a great night out

A good Halifax venue. Decent drink choices, friendly staff and security, no gender-neutral washrooms though. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes partying but needs something to do on the weekend. If you hear about a big event at the Marquee, go there instead.

Fantastic little spot 2 blocks away from the Scotia Bank Center. I was lucky enough to catch two tribute bands on a Saturday night and it was one of the best nights out in a while. The acoustics were great and the sound engineer was on top of things the whole night. The beer was cold and reasonably priced. Service was fast and busers were busy all night. The bathroom was clean as well. Cover was only $10 and the two bands were worth way more. Well worth the walk and price of admission.

🫤 Overall experience was not pleasant. This was recommended by my friend, so we thought to give it a try. Bartenders was fantastic, very professional and helpful all around, however, the waitress on the other side was completely different. Not only she forget to check on our table for about 35 minutes...
