Restaurant Bar Pub

👍 Inexpensive, open late, lots of choice of beer and snacks. What more could you ask for? Had the nachos and a draft. Was satisfying for chatting with friends. Staff is nice. They have a stage with folky singers or other artists from time to time People often mention great, good, server, night, open, time, experience, beer, staff, recommend,

Maggie, our server, killed it! Loved her, great personality and perfect timing. Knew exactly when to check-in and offer a new drink. It was open mic night, great performers who do classics, but the less common ones.

Excellent experience - the waitress was great, the beer was very good, she helped us pick good ones. Wings were good, cheese sticks were great, and the Dagwood was a new experience and very good. Very much enjoyed this place.

Avoid at all costs! I was excited to try this place although I was disappointed with the entire experience. My partner and I entered the establishment and were instructed to seat ourselves which we did on the patio. The place was quiet as there were no customers inside and only a few tables were occupied outside. After finding a quiet spot to sit we noticed that the table was wobbly, pieces of the linoleum were picked off the edge of the table, screws were wearing through the tabletop, and the table had not been cleaned properly. Also, the seats were cheap plastic patio chairs that looked like they came from Walmart. After reading the menu, I ordered the Chicken Bacon Carbonara and a Keith's that was on special. When the beer arrived it tasted a little off. When the server who took our order (dangly earing in right ear and chipped black nail polish) arrived with the food we had to remind him that we required utensils, condiments, and salt/pepper as he walked away (we never did receive the salt and pepper). My pasta was cold and the chicken was dried out indicating that it had been sitting around throughout the day and was not made fresh. It was also a small portion and came with dried-out bread covered in melted marble cheddar cheese. I would have requested to at least have the dish heated if the server ever checked on us, which he did not. My partner is a slow eater who also finished her meal and the server had still not arrived. After finishing our meals we went inside to pay where another server asked us if we were just arriving for a beverage and I indicated that we were looking to pay. Eventually, our server arrived with our bill after another server located him. I indicated that I was disappointed with my meal as I questioned its freshness. No attempt was made to acknowledge my complaint simply that he (our server) was not the cook. Overall, I was very disappointed with this place and will not be recommending it based on my meal and service. I do believe that my partner's meal was better than mine although this review is based on my experience.

I will never try this pub again. The prices are a little below compared to neighbour pubs, but the service was not good. Prefer to enjoy weekends in other near pubs with much better services. We had ordered wings, and it was over cooked. They didn’t change it because the kitchen became closed. Also, we wanted to change our order, and they didn’t.

My old stomping ground in the early '10s. Visited there for the first time in many years recently and am glad the atmosphere hasn't changed. Menu is great and Whisky Wednesday is a great deal!

Welcoming local hangout where they play rock-ish music & you can easily strike up a friendly conversation. Good selection of local & international brews on tap. Very nice Haligonian staff; non racist toward my company - I figured that's good to know for Scotians and visitors alike. Highly recommend.

Every time I have been here the service has been awful. Often servers take an hour+ to return to the table even when there are empty drinks. I once waited 45 minutes to get my tables bills. I understand when it happens once but this has happened every single time i have been there. Bartenders seem great though.

Had a lovely Sheppard's pie and my wife loved the stuffed chicken. The fried ice cream and cheesecake were the cherry on the top. Prices were great gladly go there again.

Nice atmosphere that seems to have a good selection of food and drinks. Quite young and inexperienced staff that seem less than attentive to customer needs. Not an overall bad experience, but not a place I would recommend.

The food was great and the service was great! Beer was ice cold, couldn’t ask for anything more. I would recommend.

Came here on a Wednesday evening to experience various whiskeys at a reduced price, only to find out the special doesn't start until 10:00 pm. Found a whisky page in the menu which advertises half whisky flights at a fair value. It turns out the page shouldn't have been in the menu as it was outdated. I was fairly disappointed. When asked how I could leave feedback, I was directed to Google review.

We went on a Tuesday for an open mic night and had such an awesome time! Beer was cold and clean, and I’m sure the food is fantastic unfortunately, the kitchen closed pretty early @ 10pm so make sure you get your order in before then! More importantly the host for the open mic, Tyler Cox is AWESOME! Not only is he very talented and great to listen to, he provides an atmosphere where anyone can feel comfortable getting up and playing some music for the room! I’d absolutely recommend heading here on a Tuesday Night after 9pm for an Open Mic!

Stopped in for a pint and stayed for the large whiskey list. Didn't have any food but enjoyed the quality open mic night.

Dude. I love this place. I come on Tuesdays for the open mic run by Tyler Cox. The vibe and acceptance in this place is totally awesome. Tuesdays have been full of amazing musicians and the beer and the staff are incredible. I had a great experience gigging here as well. ❤️🍍🎹🎤

I went here on Tuesday night for their open mic night and it was a great time. There were so many great, local artists and touching stories. The atmosphere was so welcoming and upbeat. I would highly recommend stopping by for an open mic night if you get the chance.

I used to like this place, and it's still a decent spot for a drink, but not so much for food. The old menu was pretty good, never had a particular bad meal. The newest menu is laughably boring. I went for the safe bet and got fish & chips. Came with 2 ridiculously small pieces and one of them was half batter. I'm not joking the total amount of fish I got was equivalent to a couple of McDonald's fillet-o-fish patties. In this climate, I can't be giving my money to a place like that.

Great burger for burger week. Service was great. Tropical storm made me feel like I was down south. Pretty long wait for drinks though. One suggestion tell people before they order that you only have 3 options during burger week before they order a drink, not after. Worked out for me as I enjoyed the bacon burger but still something you should mention before you seat people and or take a drink order. Cheers.

A great time from the pitcher of Guinness to the mains and desserts. Service was fantastic! My husband had the shepherd's pie, which was not prepared or served the way he expected but the flavour was wonderful. The stuffed chicken was tasty and didn't need the cream sauce on top to make it great. Deep fried ice cream and cheesecake for dessert made for a fun, very filling night out. Would definitely recommend and go again!

Great atmosphere, our server was mobbed so she struggled a little but that was only natural! The live music on the weekend was amazing and the happy hour prices were decent! I didn't try the food so I have no idea about it.

Bless the serving staff at the loose cannon for being the best serving staff ever. Avery and another coworker made sure to check on me when it was obvious I was on a bad date. They made me feel safe and cared for even during a busy Saturday night. Thank you guys, will be back!

Food was tasty. Service was absolutely terrible: excruciatingly slow, disorganized, and inattentive — multiple times we had to fetch our server to receive service after waiting for a while. No free refills on soda pop, which was heavily watered down with ice, and they don’t even tell you until the bill shows. And the 2 piece fish and chips was the size of 1 piece cut in 2 halves.

If it’s late and you are looking for a good meal This is your place. Nice Pub That’s open till 2 am . Service was good. Janelle was attentive & friendly. Chicken wings are good. We also enjoyed our Cesar salad with grilled chicken. We wanted to try the fried ice cream for dessert. Unfortunately, they were out so we settled for the brownie sundae that did not disappoint.

Went there on the Friday before Dorian hit. I'd battened the house down for the hurricane, and my wife and I wanted to have an enjoyable evening out before the bad weather hit. We each ordered a serving of haggis, which was really tasty, albeit a little bit salty - but salt is fine by me. I had a tall glass of Rare Bird Full Steam Stout - a real knife-and-fork beer with a heavy coffee flavor. Beautiful. My only beef is that I wished the pub had a happy hour. Their sister bar, THE BITTER END has a happy hour, but their menu isn't as good as THE LOOSE CANNON. And that's what I really want when I hit a pub. I want some grub. So, THE LOOSE CANNON definitely delivered good pub grub. I'll go back there, you bet. You ought to, too.

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, good tunes. Was our favorite bar of the night. Massive selection of scotch, unlike any I have seen before. Outside seating is very nice (but a little tight) with a lot of things to see outside with other neighboring bars/patios also busy, too. Best whiskey and limes in Halifax!

Great little pub we wandered in to last night. Service was good, considering there was only one waitstaff. Great place to talk, good music but not too loud so as to prohibit conversation. We had Spindrift Coastal Lager- light and refreshing with a nice flavour. The homemade potato chips were OK, some not being crispy though. We’ll be back!

I've been here probably close to 10 times now and EVERY.SINGLE.TIME the food is Amazing!!!! The staff is awesome and the food is the best I've had at any restaurant (by far) in years. I highly recommend this place. They have a nice patio and outdoor area to eat too. My personal fav is the challah loaf. So go treat yourself, you wont be disappointed!

Trent our server was amazing! He went over and above to make sure we had a great dinner experience. I blame Trent for my new favourite shooter the pickleback. If you stop in ask Trent about it. The food was great! The prices were super, who could resist a 15 dollar flight of scotch... from an extensive list of scotches to choose from! Go Check it out you'll be glad you did.

Had a great time with a friend of mine for the last day of Burger Week! The "Don't go Bacon my Heart" burger was very good! The table was a little bit shaky but the place was busy and the service was fast! I'll be back for another visit in the near future!
