Every time I’ve gone to this restaurant I’ve had great service from the greeting staff to the servers. It’s got a welcoming atmosphere and the restaurant itself is nicely laid out and decorated. I went during their Nacho week and their choices were great, from the vegan to the curried option. when trying out their beer, you also have the option of purchasing some to go which is convenient especially after trying their great flavours. Blueberry Ale was great! I highly recommend their Three Cheers Burger with your choice of side, their fries were nicely done. The burger was juicy and flavourful! Great dining experience and highly recommended!

Good spot downtown for drinks and food. We went on Friday night and there were a lot of corporate suits but still thought the food and beer were great. Great tap selection and flights.

Spacious spot for large gatherings. Food-wise, loved the seafood chowder and the fish cakes. As for drinks, the Hibiscus sour was pretty memorable. The staff was super friendly too.

MUST TRY - Went to try something new today with my work crew. We decided to eat out on the patio which was a nice screened in area. Will definitely be back as the food selection was amazing for a quick lunch. I ordered the ring bearer burger which included onion rings and candied bacon and a side of fries. The candied bacon wasn’t as layered on as some places do but you got a good hint of it. The team ordered everything from chicken burger, tacos and fish and chips. Everyone was thoroughly pleased overall. Prices on the high end but you’re getting a dam good feed. Service was a little lacking on the patio as we had to chase them to even get near us at the start for ordering. Some of us that have been here before mentioned the same thing. Otherwise will be back again!

**09/2022 Updated** The servers were way better tonight when I went back. But I still noticed some servers still didn’t wear masks correctly when they talk to the other servers in front of the customers. Other than that everything is great! The food was super tasty. —— Never been to the old location in the waterfront, and it was my first time here in this new location. Me and my bf got pan fried haddock and fried chicken burger ( I got their fries instead of the rice). The food was tasty, we both really enjoyed it. The atmosphere and decor are super nice and warm, also love how their patio looks like (it’s closed now in the fall but every time when I passed through in the summer, it always seems so nice) -1 star for their server, the service went super poorly and slow. The server barely checked our table and everything took forever to arrive. Also I saw one of their servers didn’t wear the mask correctly, when she talked to the other server she took her mask off. I’ll still go back sometimes, their food was super good.

A great atmosphere, the food is pretty good and the service has always been good. The beers they have are great, a great selection, especially the raspberry sour. The menu wasn’t exactly my style of food, but everything was delicious I had, and would definitely be back.

Our first experience at the new Gahan House Nova Center was incredibly positive. The new location is beautiful and the atmosphere was great. Our server was friendly and attentive and the service was prompt. All of our dishes were amazing. We started with the Nashville chicken skewers and the mussels in the colliding tides & cream sauce (which was INCREDIBLE). For entrees we had the pot roast & fries and the fried chicken sandwich. Absolutely everything was amazing. We couldn't believe how good everything was. It was a fantastic first experience here and I can't wait to come back for more!

Very nice venue. The built in-house brewery is cool to look at. Food was great and easily paired with a good pint (or flight!). Highly recommended by this out of towner.

I'll start with the pros. The calamari and mussels were excellent. Both season perfectly. The mussels were in an original sauce that most other restaurants are skipping out on. The tartar was also a fairly generous portion. Very fresh. The service was friendly but not the fastest. Adequate speed, I'd say. The fish and chips were alright. The chips were so good. Great seasoning. The fish came fried in their beer batter. It's good, but heavy. After a couple of bites, you start to feel it. We removed the batter from the second strip and ate the fish. Still very good.

Disappointed in my visit to Gahan House. This restaurant was steps away from my hotel, and after my flight from Toronto, I was famished and wanting food ASAP. The restaurant itself was lovely, but I found my fish and chips to be over cooked, and far too battered on the fish. The appetizers were better but quite small..

This was my first time dining here, my friend suggested it. I thought I would be disappointed for some reason but I am AMAZED. I don't even enjoy seafood but the mussels and fish n' chips here are to die for. The chicken tacos are packed with flavour as well. The waitress we had was very sweet and the atmosphere was very chill, not to mention the place looks stunning! Perfect spot for a nice dinner. Definitely bringing my family here. :)

Stopped for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The vibe is kind of like a sports bar. They brew their own beer, which I enjoyed. I had fish tacos which were super well seasoned and very yummy. My wife had a fresh salad that she enjoyed. Overall, very good.

A group of 11 of us ate there just over a week ago. One of my friends ordered a 5 ounce glass of wine and then an 8 ounce glass of wine, and when her bill came, she was charged for two 8 ounce glasses of wine. She pointed this out to our server, who basically told her that she was wrong and charged her for the two 8 ounce glasses anyway. Another friend ordered her meal with no onions, and it arrived with onions. She could not be bothered to say anything, so she just ate it and obviously did not enjoy it. Another friend of mine ordered the pork belly tacos. She said that what arrived was basically uncooked fat, so she had two bites and left the rest. When our second round of drinks came, everybody was having to figure out what belonged to who, because people that ordered a 5 ounce wine were given an 8 ounce wine and vice versa. One of the girls ordered the same type of wine twice but the two glasses tasted different. We still don’t know if we got the actual wine that we ordered. We at least made the amounts correct. For my food order, I had asked if I could just order two of the sides and was told that I could. I was not informed that the prices would be different than the $4 each listed. I was then charged for a small size of the salad at $9. And I was charged $6 for sweet potato fries when I would think that I would at least pay the $4 charge for it as a side to my salad? I am not sure why the price for those increased to $6? I will say that the fries and salad were tasty for me at least. When our bills came, mine was incorrect (for the drinks, I did not mention the food prices) as well as my friend to the right of me. We both asked for them to be corrected, which she did. But then they came back incorrect again, with my friend to the right of me basically paying a few extra dollars for my wine. Our server asked us if we wanted the bills redone again, instead of just apologizing and going back to make it correct. At that point we were just annoyed and we felt bad to send her back, so we said not to worry about it and just left it as is. Then, to top it all off, she announces to our group that any group larger than 10 people automatically has to pay an 18% tip. There is nothing listed on your website about this, and the person that made the reservation was not told about this. So I actually question if this is even true. I don’t understand why somebody can give less than good service, but then also be rewarded with an 18% tip from every person. I can tell you that I certainly would not have given her an 18% tip based on the service that was provided. Overall, I can say that I will not be going back, as there are many other restaurants around Halifax that provide great service for large groups, and do not insist on a certain percentage of tip for poor service.

Delicious food and generous portions! The interior is very cool, lots to look at and admire. Our server was really nice and patient despite our constant distractions making us forget to look at the food menu to order. The brown bag chicken comes with a TON of fries.

Dropped in for a quick drink with family who were waiting for a show at the local theatre to start. Despite not being in there very long it was very evident how delighted the table was with their service. The cocktails were excellent. I have had eaten there in the past with no complaints either. It's a good spot to kill some time and enjoy good food and drink.

Our waitress was AMAZING!! I don't remember her name but she was short, blond hair and had lots of tattoos. She was very nice and joked with my friend and I. Service, food and drinks were great!!

This is an organic review and completely based on our visit experience. We made a visit to Gahan House in Halifax to celebrate our wedding anniversary on 30th july 23. I heard alot of good reviews and decided to opt this place. 1. Food: we ordered chicken wings with sweet Thai chili sauce. It was fine (I expected it to be more better). But the dessert surprised me which I ordered.for my kid. She wanted a brownie with vanilla ice cream in which brownie was super delicious but found some sort of cream with it instead of vanilla ice cream. Should be taken care of before serving. 1. The service started with a pleasant welcome and the bar section Ambience was nice. However when we were done with drinks and appetizers, we were waiting for someone to ask for the main course but surprisingly no one turned up so we decided to move out and went to the counter and paid the bill with the tip. Still 3 stars for the overall service. 2. We decided to move to the beer garden section and were offered a low seating chair with table which we agreed upon. To my surprise, when I returned back home, I saw pet hairs spread on the back of my t-shirt. It was a complete shock for me. Edited: I am happy to see the reply from the service team and I shared my concern over email and hoping one day, I will get a reply back before we consider to try Gahan house again.

We were 7; my daughter-in-law called ahead for reservations just hours before. We were seated outside with beautiful lighting from both the dining room inside and the street. Service was on the slow side but it appeared that she was pretty much alone on a very busy night. She always wore a smile, answered our questions, and apologized when a 7-UP was forgotten. For the record, she brought it before being asked about it. A variety of drinks were enjoyed. Several appetizers were ordered from our group, replacing meals for some. Between us, Cajun Caesar salad (very good), seafood chowder (one of the best), tuna tartar (amazing), wings (so yummy), nachos (delicious), calamari (perfection) and a variety of mussels (very good). I ordered brown bag fish and chips. It comes with 2 large pieces and it gets heavy on the stomach while getting through the 2nd piece. The fries are amazing. All servings were nice size; nothing skimped except for maybe tartar sauce. I'm certain that if I asked for more, I would have received another. No room for dessert. No complaints on the washrooms by anyone (I didn't need to go.)

Amazing changes to the waterfront! I haven’t been for over 5 plus years and this restaurant is an amazing addition next to the Scotiabank centre . Lady seating us was not very friendly but our waitress was amazing! Knowledgeable, friendly and had some nice suggestions . Great to people watch at a window seat, and lot to look at inside . Gluten free beer option and gluten free meal options . Great vibe with variety of people and close to walk everywhere in Scotiabank Centre area! We had amazing Crab Cakes made right, and fresh Mussels.. really nice Draft options also!

I visited here for the first time recently. The food was pretty tasty. I ordered the chicken wings, pork belly tacos, spinach salad and cheesecake. The wings were crispy, but not that flavourful. The portion size was fairly small for the price. The tacos were delicious and the cheesecake was tasty, but pretty sweet for my tastes. My favourite thing I had was the spinach salad. It was sweet and tangy with lots of different textures from the goat cheese, walnuts, cranberries and onions. I found that the service was somewhat lacking. We weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal, but it did take over two hours for our appetizer, entree and dessert. I understand that it was busy when we visited, but our server was almost impossible to track down most of the time.

My partner and I went for date night. I got the haddock tacos and my partner got the fried chicken sandwich. The food was incredible the in-home beer and cider was so good! We got to sit by the large window and the atmosphere and view was great. We will definitely be coming back for more meals and have told others how good the food and service is as well

the server who served my table tried to do her best. The food is good and on time, always on the lookout for drinks. and he forgot to take all the dirty dishes. he did not offer dessert or anything extra.

Great food, nice patio. Service was speedy and staff were attentive. The selection of oysters was good and I like that the accompanying condiments were kept plain and simple to really focus on the taste of the oysters.

Visited Gahan for a birthday dinner during four visit to Halifax from Vancouver. Couldn’t get patio seating due to a private event, but got a table for 4 right away inside on a Friday evening 9pm. The waitress greeted us and was in a hurry throughout our dinner. She seemed in a rush and couldn’t spare a moment for us to finish our order completely. The place is busy that’s understandable but wish we were treated well. The Gahan spiced fries were served bland with no seasoning. The waitress took away the bland fries and replaced with the seasoned ones which lacked flavor. The Cajun chicken nachos were really good but had just 5 pieces of chicken to which 5$ extra was charged to add chicken and all the cocktails. Hot sauce was charged extra lol, never seen this in west coast. Asked for blue cheese dip and got goat cheese. 16$ pitcher deal was best. If back in Halifax, wouldn’t go back.

Amazing service from Laura and Jordan! We had the pretzel bites, calamari, poutine and the blood orange sour beer. The food was hot and so delicious and the beer was so tasty!

Good food. Fish and chips, beef melt, and chicken burger were great. Charcuterie board was good but felt overpriced. Kids options were normal (Grilled cheese etc.) but we didn't try any.

11 am for Saturday brunch was quite empty at Gahan, which is great as they were able to accommodate us quickly. Server was great, and menu includes both brunch items and regular items. Food-wise, it was just ok. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, and even though it was a good sized portion that included bacon, but the chicken just wasn’t as tasty on the inside, so it was a disappointment. A friend ordered the chicken fried steak, thinking it was chicken, steak, and eggs. Instead, she got a deep fried chicken that came in a steak texture and it was really strange and not what she expected. The Deadly was not bad with sticky maple & sriracha buttermilk fried chicken and I would probably get that for brunch next time. An entrance in and a separate exit for going out. And the hostess was there to check your ID and covid vaccination status at the front.
