Today, for the first time in my life, I encountered racism. I detest this experience and strongly dislike the way some bouncers treated me. They singled me out and pulled me out of the bar for no apparent reason. I urge the management to view the CCTV footage of my conduct to witness how I was treated and take appropriate action against the bouncer responsible. I genuinely care about people, but the extent of hatred some people spread is disheartening. What I've learned from my education is the importance of being compassionate, yet the harsh reality in Halifax is that people often don't reciprocate this kindness. I hope the staff is better to people from other ethnicities and avoid racial profiling.

The band was great, unfortunately the service/venue… not so much. We were in town on vacation and picked up a complimentary cover/flyer at our hotel lobby. We were seated without issue, although the greeting staff seemed confused about the flyer and informed us cover wasn’t required anyway. About 20 minutes (and halfway through our first round of drinks) we were approached by another staff member who asked to see the flyer. We provided it and were told that they had never seen this flyer before. They asked where we received it, and we informed them the name of the hotel. The staff member thanked us, and told us not to worry as we had valid entry but that they do indeed charge cover. After a short 5 minutes she returned, and began enquiring of the specific location of the hotel chain we were staying at. At this point, the story was “so we know exactly which locations the flyers are bringing in the most customers”. Pacifico, it is *none* of your business where my parter and I are staying - thank you for making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome in your establishment. We have no problem never returning.

Not great unfortunately, service took very long despite there not being very many people and the waiter served the wrong drinks. New atmosphere is cool but trying a little too hard to be some sort of 20s speak easy. Good for single 50 year olds looking to awkwardly step on the dance floor that's for sure

What a fantastic job they did on the renovation of this historic building. The place looks so amazing. They kept a lot of the original charm while making it feel very hip and modern. Even the outside deck is awe inspiring (huge). I shared a reserved table for 2 watching the Mellotones and I can't wait until this place gets to full capacity and see everyone dancing again. I will have to make this a regular hang out. Cheers to all the staff for making this a fun night out.

Very warm and welcoming old building in the heart of downtown Halifax. For us Dartmouthians, lovely to be able to take a ferry cruise across the Harbour and disembark just a 2 minute walk away. Our server was efficient and friendly without being intrusive. We had the cheese and charcuterie board - perfect for two and very reasonably priced. Cocktails a little pricey, but beer, cider, coolers etc. were reasonable, with a good selection. Live music started promptly at 8:00 pm and we were delighted at how much we enjoyed it. The G Street Band completed our evening perfectly.

My husband and I are avid jive/swing dancers so I was excited to learn this venue existed when we moved to Halifax a year ago. Such a disappointment when we finally visited last month. The venue is beautiful but the service was appalling and the food and drinks similar. Service: - We were charged $5 cover each in a perplexing exchange at the door. When I gave the "doorman" a $20 he made $10 change from his wallet (?!) - $10 cover was later added to our bill. When we informed the head bartender we had already paid he became angry and said we shouldn't have been charged at the door as there was no cover that night. What ensued was an aggressive exchange between the bartender and us, leading to a visit to the doorman, and finally finding the 'waiter' whom took our cash to verify we had paid at the door. I couldn't believe that the bartender did not believe we had already paid and made it such an issue! What I should have been questioning was why this was even a discussion if there was no cover. Once it was verified we had paid at the door the charge was removed from our bill. It was only after we left that I realized we should have also gotten $10 cash back as there was no cover - The head bartender has a very fowl mouth. I am not offended by swearing, but it is unprofessional when every sentence contains the F word. Band - Quite simply the band looked bored. We were there on a Saturday night so the G Street Band was playing. The singer sat on a stool off to the side. I have never seen this with a live band. And she spent more time "on break' looking at her phone while the band played sans singer than singing. My husband and I had come planning to dance and would have done so if the band had played anything with any energy at all. Drinks - For some reason the drinks were awful and tasted nothing like what the classic cocktails should. I love whiskey sours, and had the sweetest whiskey sour I have ever tasted. Food - We were there for drinks and dancing so only ordered the Tex Mex Dip. The dip was served ice cold in a tall glass bowl that made it difficult to eat. Unpleasant. And tiny serving for $14. In summary, the worst experience I have ever had at a Halifax venue. We will never return due to the rude staff and bored band. And it seems we are owed $10. If I was the owner/manager I would be reviewing my staff choices.

My 64 yr old wife, grandson, and myself walked past the doors at 9pm on August 5. She needed to take her Parkinson's medication, had the pill in hand. Two doorman refused just her entry for a glass of water unless she paid the coverage charge. My wife looks like she has Parkinson's. I helped her off the first step while the burley doormen defended Halifax from elderly tourists.

Pacifico’s Dine Around Halifax menu looked great and there was live jazz so we were excited to try this place. Absolutely loved the venue decor and atmosphere. The high ceilings & central bar in a former bank, splendid! The band, G Street Jazz, was awesome. Unfortunately the food and drink definitely need upgrading! Maybe because this is a young people’s dance club masquerading as an upscale jazz club but the drinks are mediocre, the bartender had difficulty with a dry martini & the glassware is unimaginative. The chowder was flavourful, the Mandarin salad too sweet, the salmon was good, the beets & carrots were done to perfection but the poor fingerling potatoes were roasted within an inch of their lives. The beef Wellington was the most disappointing. Either it has been done ahead of time & reheated or was cooked from frozen. The pastry was a disgrace. The desserts were adequate. Even though it wasn’t very busy, the service was at best average. I hope that management decides who they will cater to & pay attention to reviews.

Was there a month ago for a Friday jazz night and WOW!. What a wonderful atmosphere!. The place looks great and the staff are polite and personable. We had a great time, met some interesting people, ate some lovely sliders; the jazz singer and people dancing were amazing. A very eclectic crowd as well. It was quite a treat. First time in two years things felt normal. Check it out when everything returns, you won't be disappointed.

This has to be the classiest night club in Halifax. The roaring 20's atmosphere is so fun plus all the character from its location in a historic building. The bathrooms are spotless and the entire place is very clean. I really enjoyed the Sunday night jazz with the talented Canary & The LoveCatz. Great spot for a fun night out on the town. I highly recommend it.

Just paid 16 dollars for one of the worst cocktails I’ve ever had in my life. Almost no alcohol. I hate being a Karen, but for real, there are other businesses trying their best to provide a 5 star customer experience, Pacifico - sadly is not even close.

Great music, jazz all night, beautiful place, nice ambience. I was disappointed with food and cocktails. All my girlfriends dislike theirs too and it was 6 of us. Food came cold. A bit hard to get a waiter’s attention at times.

Food is incredible, esp the Wagyu beef burger. Fries are pretty decent as well! The building has such history embedded in the walls, you can absorb it from the sound waves reverberating off of it. I usually go on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

I am going to hate myself.......... I was at Pacifico for the first Thursday night performance with the Mellotones at their new location on George Street . It was absolutely outstanding!! The Mellotones will play every Thursday night for the foreseeable future. The old bank is an amazing venue.....it feels and looks rich, European and exotic . It is superbly decorated and themed....marble, stone columns soaring ceilings and a great bar. Good staff. The Mellotones are Halifax's premier dance band. We are lucky to have a band of this calibre in the city. Music on Thursdays finishes a bit early due to Covid but the focus will be on a slightly older crowd who have no place else, in the HRM, to go. This makes it perfect for any couples looking for a date night.....groups of friends wanting to get together and singles desiring to see a live band in a fabulous venue. You can have a great night, get home by 12:30 and still get up for work in the morning on Friday. You can spend Friday and Saturday night with the kids or whomever. But Thursdays with the Mellotones should not be missed. My prediction is that the place is going to become THE place to be on a Thursday night and the over 35 crowd are going to flock here once word gets out. With Covid restrictions on the wane this place is going to rock. And that is why I am going to hate myself. Once Thursday nights take off, and they will, it might be hard for me to get in, as I suspect it will become very busy. A venue of this quality, in Halifax, and a great place to people watch, deserves nothing but the best.

This bar puts a Ramp outside so it looks like it is Accessible when it is not..maybe they could get into the 21st century. So much for inclusion. Faye

Great decor. Trivia was fun. The nachos were delicious, but I had one complaint: the staff were just too friendly. But wait! I kid. About the complaint, not the staff. They were happy and I I'm still a little dazed from all the beaming smiles directed my way. Great vibes, 5 *

So cool! This building is a renovated bank, they still have the old safe which is pretty cool! The place inside is very modern and the drinks are nice and tasty! We went there Saturday night and the live band was killing it, had lots of fun. To me, its not 5 stars because they took forever to take our order, we had to go to the bar ourselves several times to place our order. And also because it was full of screaming drunk kids, im assuming they were 19 but they were overly excited and a little bit annoying. Other than that, really nice place.

Super spacious foyer with a centrally located bar just in front of the stage and dancefloor. Had a Christmas party here recently and their holiday menu was on point. I couldn't get enough of the awesome cauliflower bites which were texturally indistinguishable from tater tots (!!). Will definitely return to Pacifico when I'm in a dancing mood. 😁

Fabulous historical spot the building is magnificent, the staff friendly, and the atmosphere energetics. I love the old vaults still intact to the character of the building. Had a great time. Thank you!

The Pacifico is situated in an old stone bank building on the corner of George St, in downtown Halifax. The bar/dance club/restaurant, has lots of character and is a good option if you're looking for live music, dancing or a bite and drink. Just know that it can be packed if there is a live band. We saw the Melotones on a Friday night and it was busy. They also charged a 12 dollar cover, which seemed a little steep considering. The drinks and food are ok. The Christmas atmosphere was fantastic and the energy was fun all night. They have a large area to dance and the band stage is right there, so it gives the audience an up close and personal feeling when listening to a band. Overall, fun place! Be aware that weekends can be busy and there may be a wait outside as they have a bouncer. Also note, parking can be a pain, depending on events that are locally going on.Thanks and happy holidays from our team at photographinginthemoment (insta)

Pacifico is an awesome place! The bands who play there are top notch. I would say that the kitchen could stay open a bit later (it closes at 22:00…), but the service is great.

Pacifico is probably the best place in Halifax right now to have great time. Food and drinks are good but the best part is atmosphere and supper friendly staff. Management is very professional - George remembered my name even after one visit. Groovy music bands and DJ mix are excellent. Thank you for good times.

This bar was amazing. Our drinks were delicious and the vibes were chill but fun, with a dance floor and an absolutely amazing band playing great music. The bar food was a little salty, but went great with the cocktails.

Overall nice spot. Downside was they tried to double charge me for the cover fee that I paid at the door. They also added it onto my tab on my credit card.

  • 3/5 Himanshu M. 3 years ago on Google
The music was loud and the place was happening. Although you are not allowed to leave your seat even if you want to dance. If you want to eat some snacks along with the drinks so make sure you enter the place before 11 PM because after that their kitchen will be closed.

Absolutely the spot for New Years Eve, the vibes were perfect. Drinks weren't to bad for price and there was free coat check with the tickets. That also meant no line to get in

This space is fun and nicely styled. This bar is inside of an old bank, and some of the decor makes playful acknowledgement of this. The layout of the main makes it a bit difficult to move around the space, and there seems to be little effort in any acoustic dampening, which makes having conversations challenging. The bar staff were brisk but efficient. Confused as to why, but one of the bar staff lied to my face, telling me that they weren't serving any mixed drinks (cocktails or highballs), when they very clearly were. This was confirmed a short while later when another bartender make me a highball without question.
