Lovely place for a treat-your-man-to-a-steak-birthday-dinner! Our server, Chris, was an absolute firecracker and was a joy to meet. We had the nachos, massive baseball steak and the 10oz prime rib cut. You know it's a good place to eat when they LAYER your nacho toppings/cheese and they get your steaks cooked to pink perfection. Top it all off, we got a towering ice cream cake slice for free for the birthday guy! Full bellies and happy hearts!

Good spot for a date. The price is a bit high but it goes together with atmosphere of the place and excellent service. It is not too loud so you will be able to enjoy conversation with the partner or friends. Selection of alcohol is great so you can find something for your taste. Food was good and portions are more than enough.

We had a great early Valentine's Day dinner here. Our server was fantastic, and the food was delicious! I loved the stuffed mushroom caps as an appetizer. And I really loved the blue cheese filet as my main.

Great service. Nice atmosphere. Food was great! Service was fast and our server Sarah was amazing! My husband has a shellfish allergy and we informed the server. After that we had a manager approach to heck in and ensure the details of the allergy. She assured us our concerns would be well taken care of. Absolutely professional, attention to detail, fabulous!

We ate here on May 14 for our 29th anniversary. Our server was fantastic and very friendly and we were extremely satisfied with the staff in general. The surprise desert at the end of our meal was delicious. We had escargot and calamari for appetizers and both were enjoyable. The disappointment begins with my main course. I had prime rib, garlic mashed potatoes and deep fried onions. The rib was a large slab of flavorless meat. It was tender but cold and underwhelming in the extreme. The garlic mashed potatoes was a horrible clump of glossy goo that must have been sitting for hours before being served. The onions were interesting but maybe needed a dip or sauce to complement them with. My wife's steak was quite tasty and her baked potato was good. Sum it up great service but the food was not worth the cost or effort it takes to get to the location.

We had an absolute amazing meal. The evening was perfect . Our waiter Franco was great . Very welcoming and he was friendly and nonintrusive . He made the night perfect .

June 2023: awesome service by Franco. As always food was delicious. This time we had calamari, scallops & bacon, shrimp cocktail, escargot, and prime rib. The bacon could have been cooked more but the scallops were done perfectly. We visited for Valentine’s Day 2023 and the prime rib, filet, and lobster were all delicious. Our server was exceptional and very funny too. What a great night! 2022: Great food, perfect service by Katie. We sat on the lounge side and it was cozy. Apps were shrimp cocktail - love the presentation in a martini glass, mushrooms Neptune, prime rib with garlic mash, and sirloin with lobster tail. The veggies I got as my side were so fresh and flavourful. Everything was cooked perfectly.

Quite spacing food is really good got the very berry smoothie, keg burger 🍔 and fries 🍟 for my main meal and appetizer had .Vanilla ice cream 🍨 with chocolate sauce cherry 🍒 on the top my aunt had the hamburger or steak not actually sure what she had my dad had steak 🥩 with mashed potatoes. Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke he didn’t get the dessert my aunt had cheesecake from there she enjoyed it and we were very full after a great meal and atmosphere. Written By: Liam Van Stone

Welcome to Halifax. Mouse running around while we ate dinner. French onion soup was watery. Mushroom Neptune was good so was my 20 oz rib steak. The manager asked if we wanted to move. Why because that mouse was all over the place. Took my wife's meal off the bill. Still paid $100. I won't be back.

Lovely host, waitress - waiters were all nice.the food came out rather quick. Fries wasn’t the best but the steak and veggies grilled were awesome. Music could be improved, billie eilish wasn’t really the vibe

Our table was ready on time. Service through from Chelsea was superb, warm, accommodating, attentive. All food was excellent. Both Cobb salad and Caesar salad were among the best we have had and generous, served in nicely chilled plates. New York strip steak and prime rib mains were excellent, fresh, perfectly cooked, great sides, all served on nicely warmed plates. Tip top all round.

Excellent food, quality service. I don’t go out for steak very often, but going to The Keg is a real treat. The steak was cooked perfectly and it was a good sized meal starting off with free bread, then you can get the keg classic which comes with a salad, mushrooms, and accompaniments along with your steak. Or if you don’t have much appetite, just go with the steak as the salad and bread can just be a meal on its own. For us, one of us got the Keg Classic and the other different, so we just shared the Caesar salad and some of the steak so that we had enough room for some dessert at the end.

Big 0 for ambiance, you go in, eat and leave, nothing else, most boring of the chain and I have been to them in Ontario and Montreal since 2000. The food plate was as boring as they come. Steak was cooked to the desired taste but they should offer additional butter for the baked potato.

Not the nicest looking keg. Kind of ghetto versus the ones in Toronto, but the food and service were mostly on point. Prime rib not as good as what I’ve had at other Kegs. Could be a little drier than usual. You can see in the pic. Tasted off around the edges Maybe due to lack of volume as it is quite slow in there. Typically Keg is packed in other provinces. Still overall a fine experience. Waitress super kind.

Service was really good. I had the chicken and rib combo which was fine. Should have had the steak.

It was my husbands 30th birthday and in Ontario we cannot book reservations on weekends so we showed up not realizing that you had to have a reservation here and they were fully booked. Mackenzie, the manager and hostess were SO WONDERFUL! Not only did they make room for us at a really nice private booth in the bar area but they sent over a delicious piece of birthday cake. Our steaks/lobster, drinks and server were fantastic and overall we had an amazing first time visit at this location! We will 100% be back and I wanted to thank everyone again for helping me make my husbands birthday so great!

Had a wonderful evening. Friendly welcome. Attentive and friendly waiter. Delicious martinis, appetizers, steaks, dessert. Everything was great. A little pricey to indulge in too often, but as a special treat, it's a solid and reliable choice. I've never had a bad experience at The Keg. Thanks.

Service was great! For a party with 30, it was a great experience. My personal experience was superb. Billy Miner Pie is a "MUST" have. Words cannot describe how good this is. I recommend starting with this dessert first. We tried different appetizers. The Baked Brie was gooey throughout. Slightly salty for my taste, but everyone at my table enjoyed it. The Crispy Cauliflower was an out-of-body experience. They managed to make Cauliflower taste amazing. Tuna Tartare was uniquely flavorful. Calamari was good, extra peppers and it would be a star. Baked Garlic Shrimp was not missing any garlic AT ALL! The Lobster Bisque was a little of a let down for me! I was hoping for some lobster bits in the soup. The scoop of sour cream and broke the consistency a bit apart. With no protein or crunch aspect to the soup, it was a bit ordinary for a bisque. The Peppercorn New York Strip with the Blue Cheese Crust is will be my choice again and again and again! The vegetables were cooked to PERFECTION! It was Perfect PERFECTION! I opted for the Mashed Cauliflower for my side dish. All around, my experience was amazing. There were some overcooked dishes, which altered the overall experience. If the service outshines the food, I will give it a 5 star. In this case, it did. The KEG Downtown has some superb wait staff. ✋️ Well Done. We will be back!

The Keg Halifax NEVER disappoints. Yes there are all kinds of new and fancy places in town but if you want to have your plate full with delicious food from their starters to their mains, this is the place to go. If I'm paying for a 20oz rib steak, done perfectly at med rare, I expect the sides to be included, not extra $. Their filet is always perfectly done, excellent flavor, never spongy or flat tasting. When we go out for dinner, we want excellent tasting food worthy of the cost and to walk out feeling we got our $$ worth. I'm all for trying new places and flavors but not if my plate has more decorations than food and the cost is ridiculous. Yes we had a $240 bill but it was worth it! Staff are fabulous too.

Steak was perfect! Seafood and veggies were so bland. They offer garlic butter on the menu but when asked for it (was suppose to come with meal) was told they actually don't have/serve garlic butter. Nothing wrong what's so ever with the service. Just very mediocre food for the price you pay. No regrets but won't be back.

Thank you to Drew for providing great service and making my day and my celebration with my family so very special. The Keg has the best steak! I just wish they would have filet mignon without bacon! Bacon doesn't have to be mixed with other meat all the time. Anyway, we had a great meal.

Great service and the food was delicious. The waitress was very friendly. She took our oder and kept checking on us making sure we had drinks. We were served quick.
