A nice, clean, hotel very close to the waterfront. Check in and out were easy. Front desk was polite and friendly. Room was clean and well appointed, including a bar fridge and coffee machine.

Excellent incredibly clean room with lovely view of the Harbour . We had no microwave in the room, although there is a fridge, and when I phoned guest services to ask if we could have access (maybe through their kitchen) to heat some left over food in a microwave the reception said she would call me back. 10 minutes later a guys came to our room with a microwave! what service! Beds are comfy, room was way larger than expected. Great location too.

Of all the hotels I've been in the bed in this room was by far the best. Lovely room but no microwave 😕 bar fridge. Location was great for walking to hockey game and casino.

Great service from start to finish! The employees at the front desk and in housekeeping are amazing. The hotel is in a very convenient location and connects right to Scotia Square. Lots of places to eat and shop nearby as well. You can even get to the casino through the pedways without taking a step outside. The board walk is within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel was very clean. The pool was also nice and clean. It could use a wallpaper and carpet update in the rooms but even still it was cleaned quite well. We would absolutely stay here again. Our whole family had a great time. 2 Adults, a 10 year old and a 2 year old. Loved it!

We had our wedding in the Bluenose ballroom which was stunning. We fell in love with the room as soon as we saw it. The event staff at the hotel were fantastic and everything looked/ran perfectly. Paul (Day of event manager) and Erine (Bartender & room setup) went above and beyond for us. The food was delicious and the poutine bar was loved by all guests. We did have quite a few issues with the hotel staff side in regards to room service, room cleanliness, administration, and room rates with not just us but with many family members who also stayed at the hotel. Thank you to all the event staff that made our wedding day so special!

Nice location and affordable price. Only stayed for 1 night, but beds were comfy and was a good experience. Only negatives was the bathrooms being very small in the rooms, and to get to and from the south parking lot was a disaster.

Friendly staff and a nice pool to swim in. Bed was very comfortable, room was very clean. The only negative...bathrooms need upgrading. Breakfast...portions are large and satisfying. Hotel is conveniently located to all downtown attractions and restaurants.

Older hotel do room looked a little tired. Staff were super welcoming and yhe restaurant and bar staff made a long night very pleasurable. Would go again just for that experience.

The king room facing Harbour was nice. The view was amazing. The bed was clean and very comfortable. The shower head was amazing, like a rain fall. Loved it. Room was clean. The only downside was that the bar didn't have all the right ingredients to make some drinks, had to go to another bar. The carpet in the hallway on third floor definitely needs to be steamed clean.

Check in staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Our room was clean and the beds were comfy. The balcony was an unexpected surprise, but a great space to enjoy morning coffee while the rest of my family slept. Really liked that it was attached to the Scotia Centre. We splurged to stay downtown so the food court and restaurants were great. Having the hotel attached to the Scotia Centre meant we could effectively exit the hotel on Duke Street which was really nice because it was really hot and humid one of the days. A microwave and a small table on the balcony would have made this stay a bit nicer, but it was great to be within walking distance of downtown. Having a computer attached to a printer in the lounge made checking into our flight home and printing our boarding passes easy. All in all a good sleep and and good place to stay.

This hotel hits a sweet spot on price for the location. The close proximity to downtown without paying $170-200+ a night is what makes it worth considering. The pool and fitness facilities are adequate. Not the best the city has to offer but better than not having them. On-site parking is available, though a bit of a pain and extra cost (which hurts the value aspect). Some parts of the hotel are older and in need of modernizing or even just a fresh coat of paint. It's a dice roll when you book a room where you end up. Our room for this stay was on the first floor and was a bit run down. As an example the older metal railings on the deck needed a good sanding and a fresh coat of rust paint. The room was dated, and weird little things like the two double beds being different heights, broken drain plug, no microwave, etc. The room also had a pretty bad ant issue; they were all over the floor and table near the balcony door, which is a deal breaker for many. Room AC was inadequate; only getting the room cool temporarily then shutting off, allowing the room to heat up 4 or 5 degrees, then kicking back in.. all night. The temperature fluctuations disrupted the sleep of the three adults in the room. For ~$100 or so a night the convenient access to Halifax's downtown core and nightlife is worth it. More than that I would consider the competition of other nearby hotels.

It's very clean, but it doesn't look that good because the building is very old. We live in central Halifax, but we stayed overnight with our family for a celebration here, because there is a pool. But we couldn't used the pool because too too clouded anytime. very disappointed. I should have chosen another pool hotel. Also, my husband and my phone didn't catch here's wifi(not old smart phone), my son's old tablet caught it. What I liked about staying at this hotel was that the room had a large balcony. I specified a room with an ocean view, but I was happy because I didn't think there was a balcony. So my rating is ★3.

Front desk staff are friendly and efficient, seem well-trained and equipped. Room seemed clean. Balcony could have used a wipe down. Your lamps with the metal mesh-like coverings are so, so ugly. An alarm went off at 6am that I did not set. Funny, I just read another review saying the same thing. Wifi was horrific. Extremely slow, I actually had to switch to my data because it's inability to load pages was too frequent. Went down for a coffee at the restaurant, was expecting a mug that could be refilled but was served a medium looking take out cup of it for a whopping $4.75. Ouch. Good coffee though.

We would stay again because the location worked for us. Walkable to so many sights, restaurants, etc. Our room was spacious, but so many things need updating. The mattress wasn't the grestest. Great big screen TV with lots of extra channels available. The small fridge froze our food. Save using it for beverages only. Parking is extra. About $24/day plus taxes. Convenient access though. We would probably stay there again though.

So when I booked room it was free parking and a continental breakfast. Paid a bit more to get a view of the harbour. Thinking this would be a nice end to my vacation. What I got was No free parking and no access to get back in to the hotel from the parking garage, the carpet peeling up from the floor, and an ok view. The stay was annoying since I was 1 person located just down the hall from the pool; with kids running and screaming up and down the hall. There was no breakfast and no one followed up with me from the night before, so no communication from night staff to morning. Sorry, I would never stay here not even if it was paid. Should change to a 2⭐️

I stayed here for my wedding and it was a very mixed experience. To begin, the front staff were warm, friendly, and very helpful. They provided a basic rundown of the amenities and were VERY accommodating to our photographer (let her park for free). Unfortunately, that's where the positive feedback ends. When we arrived in the room, we quickly noticed a half-eaten chocolate bar on the floor near the couch. I noticed a member of the cleaning crew outside so I asked them if they could clean it up (which they did). Then, we noticed that the bathroom had a very strange smell. A kind of funky smell which reminded me of dirty mop water. We couldn't find the source but the smell remained for the entire 2 days. Finally, when we opened our mini-fridge, there was a container of half-eaten food inside. I called down to the lobby and they sent a cleaner up to the room. The cleaner just sort of shrugged it off, and barely apologized. The last treat was being woken up on our wedding day to a 6:00 alarm... Needless to say we hadn't set an alarm, but it decided to go off anyway. All in all, a hotel is only as good as it's rooms. Staff / Service / Amenities: 4/5 Room: 1/5

I stayed at Hotel Halifax last night. The person serving me said I didn't pay for garage parking, which i knew i did when i booked the room. I parked outside in disabled parking. I still got charged $30.00 I had to call to get the charge reversed. I know most hotels dont charge someone to park outside in disabled parking. I tried to order room service but they don't offer room service. I think if you have a restaurant at your hotel you should offer room service. I wasn't feeling good enough to go sit and eat at the restaurant. A microwave should be updated in every hotel room. It would be nice warm-up food if needed. The person next to me didn't have any respect for someone else loud waking me up at 1am. very noisy person. The rooms are outdated and old. Please book elsewhere downtown. The prices are outrageous for the quality of the room I stayed at. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. I don't like to be critical, but this experience wasn't a good idea.

Location, beds and water pressure in the shower were the only three things we liked. Parking is very far, reception staff was not friendly at the time of check in at all, room was located through the walking of labyrinth, and a/c wouldn't properly work , so it was very hot in our room despite the fact that it was working all the time. Sink and bathtub drains worked poorly, and that carpet flooring definitely seen better days. Way overpriced for the quality provided. Do not recommend.

Absolutely NOT a four-star hotel. It's a low-three at best. The rooms themselves are very dusty, the carpet is ripped, the chairs are stained and old, and the bathrooms are quite small. The staff are trying their best and they were very apologetic about the state of the hotel, but it should not be incumbent on the front line staff to handle complaints about rooms that have not been renovated in at least 15 years. The location and breakfast are excellent, though.

Our first room upon arrival was claimed as clean, but smelled terribly of musty smoke when we entered the room. We called down to the front desk and they moved us to a different room a level up which actually smelled clean when entering. The service we received for that was great. Our room was ok, air conditioner was hit or miss - when it kicked on it was freezing air but once it turned off it was quite stuffy again. The shower in our bathroom was kind of gross as the water did not drain properly and the water would rise to 3/4 of the tub height while having a 20 min shower. The party we were with also mentioned that when they arrived to their room, it had looked like someone had been sleeping in the bed already, sheets and blankets all messed up but the room was labelled “clean” and ready for new guests. They got a new room immediately which was great. We were there for 5 days and 4 nights and not once did our room get cleaned during our stay. The most shocking part of our experience, was when we found a mouse in our room scurrying across the curtain rod. A few others in our party also mentioned there were mice running across the floor of the food court. Luckily we were brought up on a farm and don’t mind mice in general, but it was a huge red flag to see them inside the hotel. We looked up previous reviews for this hotel and found at least 2 other reviews with the mention of mice/rats. Probably wouldn’t return unless there were no other hotel options.

The room wasn't ready for us. No sheets or pillows for the pull out couch or pillows. Also no towels. It took multiple requests and a full day to get everything and a blanket for the pull out never came. The kids had their cozy blankets so it wasn't a big problem. They also wouldn't replace our towels, just didn't, we are here 3 days and nothing dries because of poor ventilation. Pedestrian access to the boardwalk is very difficult. Not the hotels fault but the location isn't an advantage like they would have you believe. I guess I should be giving it 2 stars because it wasn't horrible but I spent the entire time wishing I'd booked a different hotel so that has had an effect on the review. As with other reviews the rooms are very run down and showing their age. We stayed here 15 years ago when it was the delta and it was showing its age then. I don't mind that too much really, it was clean enough and we aren't spending our time in the room. I don't like elevators being out, a mitigating factor is that there are housekeeping elevators so that helps when an elevator is out. Ownership is milking this place for every penny before they fix it up, don't reward bad management and go somewhere else.

JBL portable speaker got stolen. Told the manager, she told me to make a police report with no concern that her staff are stealing from guests. Basically accused us of bringing it out with us and leaving it elsewhere. Who brings their speaker with them while they go out for lunch? We have travelled to many parts of the world and have NEVER had anything stolen from our room. Manager said she would follow up with us, surprise surprise, she never did. With that being said, obviously no safes in the room. Stayed 4 nights and the sheets were not changed once. Had to constantly ask for towels and at least our beds made. Front desk offered that they bring sheets for me to change the bedding? A/C didn't work at all. Had a really nice maintenance guy come in but it didn't fix the issue. IT WAS SO HOT that I couldn't sleep comfortably and they had no other rooms to move us to. I would NOT recommend this hotel. There are so many better options downtown Halifax. Please reconsider if you are planning on booking here and want to have everything you came with.

The service here is unacceptable and I would recommend against going at all cost. My family and I were staying for three days for thanksgiving holidays. My mom noticed that there was no room service on the second day, but we desperately needed new towels for showering. She then asked the front desk receptionist if she could get housekeeping service, and made sure that the receptionist was aware when we would be leaving the hotel for the day. The receptionist assured her that they would come in after we left. We noticed that the towels were still unchanged when we came back, so I called the front desk again to see if I could get new towels. They told us that there was no housekeeping service, but they could give us new towels. I was confused because that was not the case when my mom asked yesterday. I then headed down the front desk to ask for a clarification. The receptionist was impatient, and asked why don’t I call them instead. He then replied that they would give us new towels in 15 minutes. When I was leaving, the receptionist was whispering to his colleagues about how difficult I was. It was never stated anywhere that housekeeping services is unavailable, and I believe asking for fresh towels is not unreasonable for guests that are staying for more than one night. We were also polite when we asked for towels (for three times), but the response and attitude I got from the receptionist was beyond unprofessional.

If you think this hotel is cheap you are highly mistaken. Your room may be $100CAD a night but every night you stay you gotta pay 20$ extra for parking. Not just this but the restaurant in the hotel is extremly expensive but they basically force you to go there because 1. There is no free breakfast. And 2. The hotel is attached to ScotiaSquare and nothing is open till like 12pm on Saturdays and not even open on Sundays. 3. No appliances in the room such as a microwave or kettle; also the mini fridge is a mini mini fridge. (So have fun with that) We had house keepers knock on our door at 8:30am and trying to come into the room cause they thought we checked out. (Thank God I latched it the night before; they probably would have walked in on us.) This hotel also doesn't have do not disturb signs. The pool was freezing and also - I read that this hotel has a hot tub; they took it out. The room was very well cleaned; only the washroom has no ventilation and it looked like mold was starting to grow on the edge of the trim also they left utensils inside the drawers. 2 were still sealed - 1 was not. I stayed 2 night - but I would have only stayed 1 night if it wasn't for my husband's union Christmas party was being held there. The party looked beautiful - to bad the food was cold.
