Wonderful people, service, and food! I've tried their fish n chips and the big breakfast during my stay in downtown Halifax and they were both excellent and left me feeling so satisfied. It's also so easy to find a seat with beautiful view of the harbour around here - either at the cafe (indoors or patio) or at a picnic table closer to the waters. The choice is yours :)

Very quaint Cafe with awesome tasting food, excellent prices and very friendly staff. For lunch I had the 2 piece fish and chips. Amazing! Fries were crisp on the outside and soft inside, perfection. Fish was very nicely battered and cooked to a golden brown. Not greasy at all. Totally recommend this place.

Stopped in for lunch on our quick trip to Halifax. Fish & Chips is excellent, my wife gives 5/5 on the club house sandwich and the bana bread is amazing! New favourite cafe for a quick fish & chip lunch on the waterfront. To top it off, the service is amazing. Everyone is so friendly, real east coast charm!

It is a great cafe by the waterfront. We visited early in the morning to grab a tasty sandwich and some lattes. The latte was fine but the sandwich was awesome. It stayed crispy and delicious even after 1 hr of travelling. Definitely suggested for on-the-go food cravings. They have various breakfast options for everyone.

Came with my love and was like why are we dropping mad coin on food and stumbled on this spot. I wasn’t looking for “good service” but good food that was affordable and they delivered. Had a poutine and fish and chips. Fries were golden. And filled us up. If quicker buy Summits Poutine over Smokey’s Poutine. Support local and mom and pop shops all day, every day. Come young and young at heart.

A bite done right! My partner and I had an absolutely wonderful experience at The Summit Cafe last Saturday. We were downtown exploring the farmers market and waterfront shops when hunger struck, so we decided to give this cafe a try, considering all the incredible things we'd heard about it. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by what seemed to be the cafe owner and another staff member. Their service was not just prompt but also incredibly professional. In a matter of minutes, our Caesar salads and club sandwiches arrived at our table, and we were both blown away by the generous portions, especially given the affordable prices. I can't stress this enough – the Caesar salad was hands down the best we've ever had, surpassing even local trattorias and Italian restaurants. It's no surprise that this place maintains its well-deserved, consistently hight rating. The food here is nothing short of delicious, the staff is exceptional, and to top it all off, you get to enjoy a beautiful view of the water while dining. It's simply amazing all around. We'll definitely be returning to The Summit Cafe for more delightful experiences.

The 2 piece Fish & Chips was very greasy. Little bit of fish with a lot of batter so over cooked, it was crumbly. I will go back but, I will not be getting the fish.

I work on the waterfront and come here every day for breakfast and/or lunch. The people there are great and it’s always a warm and inviting place to be. If there are oatmeal chocolate chip cookies when you go, buy them all, they’re next level good. The clubhouse sandwhich is my go to lunch but the fish and chips and big breakfasts are also unreal. 10/10 recommendation.

What a great find on the Halifax Waterfront. Food was so delicious. Haddock was cooked just right. Prices are not inflated like most other establishments. Very clean. Will go back for sure. Food arrived very fast if you go their on a lunch hour

When I walked in the restaurant I guess it wasn't what I was expecting. The food was decent but I'm a little skeptical to how our food came out so fast. The food is pretty cheap. 25$ for a soda, coffee, two fish and chips and eggs plate. Not too sure if id want to come back but will see. I'd recommend this place for a quick bite to eat if that's what you are looking for.

I wish I had known about The Summit earlier. Not only do they serve unbelievable food at affordable prices, but they’re one of the few places that have NOT raised them all for the tourist season. The location could NOT be better - you can walk in straight from Lower Water St. in the big office building with the ground level Map Store (you can’t miss it), then have your breakfast or lunch, then exit the opposite way you came in - and be RIGHT ON THE BOARDWALK. It must also be mentioned that The Summit is the only place I’ve found so far to have a REAL Fisherman’s Platter ($12.95) - you get the fried fish, scallops, shrimp, AND clams - and they’ve got tons of other stuff too: all at rock-bottom prices. Once you start coming here, if you’re staying in the Downtown area, you probably won’t go anywhere else for a pre-dinner time meal.

Spotless large restaurant. You walk in and you can smell freshly baked cookies. Food was delicious and fresh

A good, practical cafe ideal for breakfast. The menu selection wasn't as varied as other breakfast places in our experience and opinion, but it satisfied; tables and dining area were clean and spacious, service was agreeable, food was tasty. Would consider again should we travel to Halifax again.

Partner and I stopped in earlier for a quick lunch, service was great; very friendly staff! Meals were good quality as well as super affordable! We had the 2 egg breakfast & chicken strips, both were great!

Nice little cafe with good prices. Their sandwiches and breakfasts are pretty good and I enjoy that they use a vinaigrette for their Greek salad and not a cream dressing. The staff is very friendly. Also usually isn't packed with tourists so it's perfect for office workers in the building.

Hole on the wall and the best kept affordable home cooked dining experience on the waterfront 10/10

My second visit to Halifax's fantastic revamped waterfront with a friend. We were so interested in all the changes, we couldn't decide where we wanted to grab a quick lunch. The Summit Cafe has been around for years, but I never thought to eat there. Not this time! What a great find! The menu included all-day breakfast, as well as soups, salads, fish a chips, etc. Starting at $6. My friend had breakfast and coffee, I had greek salad and one piece of fish. Everything was fresh made and very tasty. The staff was super friendly and made our visit the place to go for a reasonable meal on the waterfront. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed! See you there!

We had breakfast on the patio overlooking the waterfront. The bacon and eggs were very good and the view amazing. The service was excellent as well. The prices can't be beat either.

Wanted to love it! Maybe we caught them on an off day. Service wasn't remotely friendly and food wasn't great (eggs over easy were broken, French toast was fried eggs on bread). Set up was confusing.

🫤 Overall experience was not pleasant. This was recommended by my friend, so we thought to give it a try. Bartenders was fantastic, very professional and helpful all around, however, the waitress on the other side was completely different. Not only she forget to check on our table for about 35 minutes...
