Nice little local cafe for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Ordered the Avocado + Chimichurri eggs on toast which was a delicious and healthy choice for breakfast. Paired it with a latte which was nice and foamy. We sat on the tables just outside to enjoy the nice and sunny weather.

An absolute bussing cafe. The muffins are best around, but if you go on Wednesday you can get the raspberry streusel muffin (which is the best one in my opinion). The mochas are made with real chocolate and are super thick and good. The paninis are also fire, and give me purpose in life. One time, there was a leak in the unit above and they had to close for the day. One of the worst days in recent history.

An absolutely delightful Café in downtown Halifax on Barrington Street. The staff were extremely quick, friendly, and welcoming. The coffee, latte, muffins, and cookie I got to go were enjoyed from home! An excellent array of different baked goods and meals. Sad it took me so long to finally stop into this Café having lived so close for so long. Great spot, definitely recommend

Came by for lunch on the suggestion of a friend. I’m glad I did! Cozy little cafe with an excellent selection of paninis. There are more seats then it seems, especially if you head upstairs. I personally enjoyed eating my grilled cheese with a bird’s eye view of the café. Friendly staff and quick service. Would absolutely come again!

What a wonderful spot we stumbled upon. This is a great place for a breakfast or lunch; sandwiches were delicious, especially the halloumi sandwich. Plus it is a charming and cozy atmosphere to replenish oneself.

The food was delicious. Got a panini it was nicely done. But I did find the service mediocre. I asked a few questions which he seemed kind of annoyed that I asked if my sandwich was heated. I also said out loud that I didn’t see any cold drinks so I didn’t get one. And then when sitting down after I noticed the cold drinks menu was behind where we were standing and I wasn’t directed there. My partner got the coffee and said it was amazing.

It's okay. Their lactose free milk selection is limited to almond milk and soy milk, both of which can be overwhelming flavors. If you are gluten free you won't be able to find an easy meal to have. The entrance is a small step, but it is definitely not accessible. The atmosphere is quaint and comfortable, seems like a nice spot to spend some time or meet someone for brunch. tldr: people with food sensitivities beware - it's not a barrier free venue, it's quaint.

What a treat to eat here! I used to frequent the former eatery when I worked downtown so getting to pop in to have a delicious panini and chai latte with steamed oat milk made fir a perfect lunch between meetings. Cozy space and friendly staff - I will be back soon, I hope!

Grabbed an Americano and cookie while walking around the area. The staff were so kind and welcoming. The cafe was so cute, with a handful of table/chairs throughout. Went late morning so it wasn’t too busy. The coffee was probably the best we had while in Halifax (we hit up several places over a few days).

This is my first time visiting and it has been a pleasure. All the staff are very friendly and efficiently moving the line along. I took a seat upstairs and they brought my food quickly. I ended up on the phone so I didn't really notice my drink didn't come. When I waved someone down and they were very apologetic. They brought me a bigger drink and offered some baked goods for the delay. Mistakes happen everywhere, but they do service very well. I'll be back! Thanks!

📍Bird's Nest Cafe ⭐️8.5/10 What we got: - ham and brie panini ($9.50) - roast beef panini ($9.75) - southwestern chicken club panini ($10.95) - cappuccino ($3.25) If you’re ever in Halifax, the paninis at Bird’s Nest Cafe are a must try! They have many different options so you’ll find something for everyone. The bread is toasty perfectly which gives each bite a perfect crunch. The cafe also serves hot drinks, cold drinks, breakfast wraps, sandwiches, soups, pastries and more! **Follow @smfoodd on Instagram for more pictures and reviews!!

Simple, cheap, and tasty. If your looking for a quick and easy place for a coffee and breakfast this is the spot. I had a cappuccino, a ham breakfast wrap, and a chocolate toffee cookie. I can all three were fantastic. The cookie was especially good!

If there were 6 star reviews that's what we'd give. Great little breakfast spot serving, what was, the best breakfast we've had in Canada. Welcoming, friendly people that make breakfast enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Really nice cafe in downtown Halifax. Great selections for breakfast and lunch, also for vegetarians. Very friendly employees.

Despite several allergies, I was able to enjoy a robust salad at the Bird's Nest Cafe. The order-at-the-till style makes it awkward to have a conversation about allergies, as I generally have several questions which take time; I felt like I would be holding up the line if I asked too many. Nevertheless, I appreciate their willingness to work with my allergies, and the affordable price of their menu options. They are located walking distance from the harbour, and have a lovely patio on Barrington Street.

My wife and I visited on Sept. 26, 2020. My wife had contacted the restaurant ahead of time to ensure that a menu item was still available. This was something called a "Dutch baby." She was assured that it was available and would be when she arrived. When we reached the restaurant, the item was listed on the wall. When my wife ordered the item, she was told they didn't have it. We were disappointed, but decided to stay anyway. We ordered coffee while we read the menu. We ordered. I had the "naked eggs." It took a very long time for our food, when it arrived my eggs were just two hard boiled eggs and two pieces of sourdough bread for $11. And what was left of my coffee was cold and we were never once offered a refill. We will not return.

I absolutely adore birds nest. Try the ham and Brie panini - you’ll thank me! The staff are super helpful and friendly. The cafe is small, but it is so cozy and welcoming. The prices are definitely better than other spots selling comparable food items. If you haven’t stopped in - you’re missing out!

Saturday Cinnamon rolls are delicious as were the sour dough toast topped with avocado and poached egg and sour dough toast topped with scrambled egg and salmon. We didn't know this spot was here and are happy we stumbled across it.

First impressions count and I love the vibe/decor of this place. Small and functional. Yeah, you can get a fancy coffee or tea or you can get a simple Red Rose at a reasonable price. The food looks good too but I didn't get to try it. Next time.

I really like the food from here, especially their breakfast wraps. Their coffee on the other hand always has some sort of chemical taste to it? ..But I still drink it.

This five star review is a long time coming. Bird’s Nest Café is easily one of the best locations for quality coffee, food and service in the entire province. The front of house staff are always so wonderful, even when the lines are out the door and the temperature is through the roof. And though I haven’t met the back of house team, the fantastic baked goods, sandwiches and other products they are making on the daily speak for themselves. There is nothing I could write that would be adequate to describe how great the entire team is. Whether you’re looking for a quick coffee, looking to have an event catered, or otherwise, come here ASAP!! Also I wanted to share in case the team reads this: your location is especially dear to my heart, as I was able to sip nervously on amazing coffee a few years ago while waiting for Fireworks gallery to open a few doors down. You all kept me fed and caffeinated so I wasn’t a complete nervous wreck when selecting and then picking up my now-wife’s engagement ring. So cheers to you all!

Very cool cafe with artisan eats and a good variety of breakfast beverages. Staff are very friendly and the restaurant has a fun bird theme with neat knick knacks.

Very impressed! May be tricky to find a seat sometimes but if you can get in you won’t be disappointed. Great healthy food at reasonable prices in a cozy atmosphere cafe. Friendly staff!

healthy, but a bit costly. Neal's range from 6-13. Lentil soup, salads, and baked goods complement the chic industrial cafe. Limited seating, humid, unventilated. Suitable for a grab and go, and order online for in person pick up to save time.

Really good service and coffee. I’m a vegetarian and Melanie went above and beyond to create an avocado toast masterpiece which was unreal! She did smiling all the way. Love it and will be back whenever visiting Halifax!

🫤 Overall experience was not pleasant. This was recommended by my friend, so we thought to give it a try. Bartenders was fantastic, very professional and helpful all around, however, the waitress on the other side was completely different. Not only she forget to check on our table for about 35 minutes...
