This park is in one of the most important places in Halifax. Other than the spectacular location and views, the feature most worthy of note about these trails is the history of the area. This area used to be a thriving community of African Nova Scotians until they were all forced off their land to make room for Halifax “development”. It is heartbreaking to walk around on these trails because you can get glimpses of where they lived, and see some remnants of past building in the park. There are several very beautiful areas where lilac trees and other beautiful blooming bushes and trees are planted, and I heard that they were planted by people who lived here when it was their property. I can only think that if someone put all that effort into developing their property, they obviously loved it, and they should have been able to stay. Just depressing. The park today is a stunning memorial to that, although I have to admit, I would be happy to lose the park in favour of families getting their property back. The trails here are amazing and the park itself is beautiful, and a bit on the wild side as well. By the way, at least some of the photos people have posted for these trails are actually for Africville Park, not the trails on Africville Lookoff Park, which is a different place.

I run these trails every week. They are not super long and great for families or just going for a stroll by yourself. I would recommend walking these trails if you have never been. You can get a great view of the Harbour. They take about 20-30 minutes to walk from one side to the other. They are also dog friendly if you want to take you fur baby with you. Especially if you live in the north end of Halifax, this is a great place to visit. In addition to exercising, it is important to learn the history of Africville.

I love this whole park and visit regularly. I appreciate that it's still fairly natural and not all manicured like the public gardens. It's sort of like a little forest oasis in the city

Nice trails, and never that busy because not a lot of people know they exist. As I live nearby it makes a great place to go for some excellent views and a great place to walk my dogs.

It's can be a nice quiet place for a walk. Unfortunately not everyone follows the leash requirement for dogs.

Great spot for walking, biking (including some mountain bike features) or just enjoying the view & birds. Could use a little more love than it gets.

It's a great place but please, don't be misled. Despite repeated request and daily demands for Google correct the name of this place, they seem to know better then myself who lives less than 800 feet away. Even sending them a picture of the sign which specifically states that it is Africville Lookoff Park (which does not have any kind of a trail system), I guess that some knob who is 6,082 km away is the expert here. Whatever google.
