We decided to go give the new location a try, specifically the dim sum on saturday. The newly renovated location is modern, nice and bright with a nice view. There are large round tables that can accommodate large groups as well. Firstly the food was excellent with some cavets (most of the food came out cold), the sesame seed rice ball filled with salted egg yolk was a standout. The BBQ pork buns had a nice filling and a good pork to bun ratio, however these came out luke warm, they should be hot. The pork bone congee was very tasty but again this came out cold but the flavor was great. The BBQ pork puffs were not bad with lots of pork but the amount of pastry should be more. My favorite dim sum item is rice rolls, they were good with a generous portion and nice sauce but again it was not hot. Ok now to talk about the service which is why this review only got 3 stars, and actually it's more like 2.5 stars. The service was terrible, we've been to Hong Kong and other parts of Asia where, while the servers are not the friendliest, they make up for it with efficiency, it was not found here. Also the restaurant was not packed so it's not like they were maxed out. We were there for at 30 minutes before we got any food and then the rest came very slowly, with the final item arriving after we asked the servers (yes we had to ask three times) to check. Nobody ever came back to let us know that they had looked into our missing item either, nor ever check to see how anything was, the communications was terrible. We will give it another try for sure because the food is that good and hopefully the service will improve since they just moved to the new location. I'd like to see the place do well.

Revised my review; Food: Best Dim Sum Restuarant in Halifax so far. Good portion and authentic Chinese Hong Kong style. Recommend to try steamed chicken feet, deep fry taro (you need to ask for plum sauce), pork dumpling, fried noodle with sticky soup, Stewed beef brisket and BBQ duck. Service: Improving a lot after my 1st review. In order to get your order faster, recommend to come to Restuarant earlier.

Dinner was fantastic. Food was hot and tasty and the staff friendly. Made excellent recommendations. Prices are reasonable also. So happy I decided to go while visiting Halifax. Will be back and so will my friend.

Enjoy the dim sum and yum cha during weekends! The dim sum and tea may not be so impressive but the ambience is good and cozy. It may be a good choice if you would like to taste chinese food with friends and family.

I do NOT recommend. I ordered the Double Seafood Happiness which is described on the menu as a combination of Jumbo Shrimp and Scallops over vegetables. I could not find the scallops in my dish so I enquired the wait staff who enformed me that the Scallop was diced. In total, there was less than one Scallop in my dish. Very disappointed

Waited a half an hour past the time they said it would be ready, I paid for gravy, didn’t get any. All other food in the bag( 3 combos) luke warm except one item. Going down hill fast. Need more staff.

Went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and had Dim Sum. It was delicious! There was no wait to get in, and the food came within a reasonable amount of time. It is definitely worth the drive over the bridge!

Good dimsum but there is always something each time we go. Make sure to check that you have received all items on the bill. Today I asked that the last item (sesame balls) be cancelled if they have not started it yet or I will take to go if it's ready. They assured me that it was almost done. So I paid and waited. 15 mins later, nothing. And they couldn't tell me if it was going to be another 5 or 10 or 15 mins. So I left without the order that I had already paid because I couldn't wait anymore.

They offer halal menu if you book in advance and have a group of a minimum 25 people. The food was good and fresh. I wish they would offer permanent halal options.

Great Dim Sum(at least monthly visit). Always good service, friendly staff. There's noted improvement in the dim sum Sunday staffing. Bumped up to 5*.

My second time out to Dim Sum, my first time at this restaurant. The food was delicious, however, the service was lacking a bit. It was hard to get the attention of any staff. One of our dishes was mistakenly forgotten about. Nice view of Bedford Basin, not too loud in there either.

First time trying their weekend Dim Sum. Three of the dishes were quite accurate, but two (shrimp dumplings, steamed dumplings in Shanghai style) were not pleasant. Something went wrong with the wrapper of the shrimp; it just fell apart and crumpled when attempting to lift it. The steamed dumplings Shanghai style are supposed to have soup inside. One of our favourites, it was dry and lacked flavour. Also, steamed beef balls are quite easy to make, but were not included on the menu. This is a very standard dish elsewhere. Siu Mai, steamed pork rice roll, steamed sticky rice in leaf, and deep fried taro were good. So so.

We used to dine in at the old place but just rather take out. The food is still hot when we get home. Love the food. Staff is polite and very friendly. We've been coming here since they opened up over 30 years ago. No complaints at all.

Not like the original Chaintown on the basin, which had gone downhill when managment changed. They're tried to bring in different Asian or Indian foods. Now new location, management/owners, almost as good as original. Had the meat egg rolls with homemade plum sauce, whole crispy barbecued duck, pork fooyoung, and Chinatown fried rice. Delicious! Ordered for 5:30 pickup. On time.

Does this look like this place gets all them stars wow just went and got dinner for 2 for me and my women and this is what she finds a long hair in the batter of her chicken ball called the store they said we can give you new balls no thanks I want my money back and I'll bring you back all your food hey hung up on me so bbb and food inspection wil be contacted thats just nasty take a look cant make that one up

The dead plant in the window should have been a clue that care is lacking here. The food is less than mediocre. The service unhelpful. Very few vegetarian options. Maybe the dim sum is better
