This is NOT the Tony's I know. For over 30 years I have enjoyed their delicious donair and one-of-a-kind sweet sauce that makes this place a go-to whenever I visit Halifax. I ordered a medium donair with extra tomatoes and extra sauce with no onions. Drove from downtown to Larry Uteck Drive to enjoy my food only to be disappointed with this; a dry and tasteless piece of heartbreak. Thanks for ruining my night and wasting my expensive gas!!!

Came here for take out and ordered a 9" donair pizza. They had quite a number of items on their menu so it was a little hard to decide. Service was friendly and the turn around was pretty fast. It took me 20 minutes to drive back home and finally get to eating the pizza. Surprisingly the pizza still tasted delicious, and I can only imagine what it would've been like had I eaten it right off the press. Would recommend 👍

Never had a good Bubba sub (donair sub w/garlic spread) in 15 years that I could find in the city that tastes just like a pizza place in Cape Breton I used to eat at. Ordered one tonight to test it out and I wasn't disappointed at all. My first time eating at Tony's and can see it becoming new favorite spot. Donair spice was just right, the amount of sauce and toppings was perfect and staff was great! Will definitely be back.

Got one of Tony's famous donairs - excellent! It was my first time having donairs - one of the things to do in Halifax - and I'm definitely ordering them again next time I've got the chance.

delicious food. we ordered a large tony's donair which was a mistake as it was sooo large. i don't know how they fit so much meat on it. it is a tad spicy, probably from the onions. we also got the world famous pizza which is very yummy. they are also very generous on the meat on the pizza.

Since 2018, I have been moving around various towns and cities, mostly military towns and cities, and at one point or another, I have encountered the coveted donair. I’m using “coveted” here very sparingly, a donair is usually what a discount shawarma shop will sell you instead of an actual beef shawarma, so I’ve always thought of it as budget beef The distinguishing factor for a donair is almost always the sauce, the sweetness, tanginess varies. This donair, although a bit too sweet for my liking, was complimented by the tomatoes and onions, overall, it was very delicious and INCREDIBLY well priced. JAM PACKED. Would recommend trying!

I had the famous Halifax Donair, for my only visit here and I must say I loved it! Not dry at all like I read in a comment, sweet-sour and spicy (but not too much). And nice onion rings. Employee super nice! Definitly recommend!

I had my Favorite places to get a doniar in NS, well I found the new favorite place. Toss up between number 1. Shawarma is the best I've had on the east coast. Good Crew, good energy and funtastic atmosphere. Thanks for the feed. When I'm back in town, I'll be stopping in.

If your ever craving chicken shawarma from a place that is “famous” for their donairs, don’t. The chicken was bland and had no seasoning, and same goes with everything on it. The sauce had little to no taste, and the same goes with their own donair sauce. Their donair egg rolls were okay, but the sauce again didn’t have much taste.

Exactly what you need in a good donair: an abundance of well seasoned meat, a good donair sauce, large portions at a good enough price, and its open until 3AM. I think I went three times in three days (oops…) They do NOT skimp on the donair meat here, and although it is a sticky, sloppy mess by the end of it, it is exactly what you need at 1-2 in the morning after a night out. Plus, the meat is WELL SEASONED. The spicy (seasoned, I mean. Not heat wise) beef is so good with the sweet donair sauce, and the tomatoes and onions make the perfect combo. If you have never tried donair before, this is the place to try it, and if you LIKE donair, this is the place to get it.

I regularly order pizza for a group of staff. I changed it up last time as I heard the last few times that I ordered for them that the pizza didn't taste good. This is the exact question I got from one of them, "Where did you order the pizza from? We looked on the box and it didn't say. It was so good!!". I was more than happy to hear that, and will make sure to use Tony's from now on. I think they will be using Tony's for their ordering too!

Small place inside but we enjoyed the time. It was our first donair. We enjoyed them. I would have liked it a little warmer but the flavour was good. I found them a bit sticky so a wet wipe would have been a nice addition. Staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. I will definitely will go back next time here

Fantastic Donairs and Pizza!! We stopped in to see what all the hype was about while visiting Halifax and both the Pizza and Donairs were fantastic!

One of the BEST donairs I've ever had. Staff was great and friendly and the food was excellent. If you want a real Halifax donair, you have to go to Tony's.

Tony's was my introduction to the world of Halifax donairs. And I like it a lot. The pita sandwich is full of tasty meat and a sweet sauce. I'd definitely come back here.

The one, The only, The original Donair Dominator! To say it was yummy is an understatement! We were lucky to arrive a grab a parking spot just alongside the shop. We also were able to grab a seat at the window and enjoy the beautiful area across from the commons. Thank you Tony's! You are legendary!

Had to pay a visit to see what the fuss was about and take try a Halifax staple. When we showed up we were the only ones there but that quickly changed in a few minutes when 10 more people showed up it seems this place is popular as I noticed people taking pics as they drove by or posing in front of the place for a pic. Food wise I ordered the large do air which is basically the same pita they normally use with more meat. Wasn’t sure about the Donair sauce because I heard it was sweet but it ended up being perfect. The restaurant itself is pretty simple and the guys working there are not the chatty outgoing type which is fine. Enjoyed it enough that I went back the next day.

Ordered Tony’s original donair (medium), which had a lot of meat with good flavour (4/5), and the falafel plate (2/5) which was very disappointing. The falafels were fairly small despite the description of “2 large falafels” and the texture was extremely soft and crumbly, with bland flavour. They were the least authentic falafels I’ve tried, but perhaps shouldn’t be surprised given they specialize in pizza and donairs. Not many vegan/vegetarian/ gluten free options. The service was slow- we waited more than 10 minutes for our food.

I had an incredible experience at Tony's famous Donair in Halifax. Their simple donair is hands down the best I've ever had. The combination of onions, sauce, perfectly seasoned meat, and fresh tomatoes made it truly amazing. If you're in Halifax and craving a delicious donair, Tony's is a must-visit!

Not that convinced. Mixed feelings. I was the only person in there, which made very thing easy in terms of fast service. I am still a bit skeptical cause in the menu it says the large Doner was 11 but was charged 13. 2 dollars for tax? That’s just insane. 13 CAN for this is not worth it in my opinion. It is big enough and even though the meat was a bit dry the sauce was good enough to make it feel better. I would say pricey, greasy and good sauce (condensed whatever). Update: I am having so many farts after eating this… I really believe it is not so healthy at all… people near me complain about the smell of the flatulences.
