THE most authentic, exquisite sushi by master chef Shige. The Chirashi is fresher, better price point and most variety than Chirashi in all of North America. The chef inspired Omakase is second to none. Highly recommend this sushi experience.

Japanese food never tasted this good in Halifax! Every time we go here the food is consistent, delicious and fresh tasting. Their rice is that perfect sticky but perfect flavor and consistency you crave for chopsticking. Staff are wonderful as well! Call ahead and make a reservation for a certain dine in experience. Love this place and, hopefully, so will you!

The best Sushi in Halifax! You can have authentic Edomae sushi which is provided by Japanese chef here! There is also Canadian style sushi. Sushi which is made by Shige-san is not just a dish. It's kind of an art I guess! Definitely come back to this place :)

Ordered the Omakase dinner for $70 and it was well worth the experience! The taste, portions and presentation of the offerings were superb! Even the fruit dessert dish at the end was delicious! Thank you for introducing me to sea eel and for such a lovely time.

Feels like a low end sushi shop when I walk in but the food was amazing. I had omakaze for takeout and it was fresh and good. My kids had udon and salmon terriyaki, both were very good. They use traditional ways to make the broth and your taste the fish in the soup. The only not so good feedback was the tempura roll that came with the omakaze has too much mayo and rice.

We ordered Sushi Omacase, zaru soba, shrimp tempura! This is the only Japanese restaurant with Japansse owner and the only Omacase in halifax! We enjoyed this! Thank you!

Let me just say something: YOU GUYS NEED TO TRAVEL!! The reviews here are so wrong! This is probably one of the worst sushi I’ve ever had, I used to live in LA and even supermarket sushi tasted better. HALIFAX DESPERATELY NEED A GOOD CHEF THAT KNOWS ABOUT SUSHI! Good sushi not garbage. If you’re gonna make sushi make it right!!!!!! So disappointing.

My family and I dined at Sushi Shige and had a fantastic time. It is an authentic Japanese cuisine restaurant with high quality sushi and sashimi. The dine-in experience was cozy and the staff was helpful and tended to the table regularly. It helps that the place is small and has about 4 or 5 tables only. We tried a variety of dishes. The portions were reasonable and the fish was fresh. My family liked the teriyaki salmon and their miso and udon soups. The fresh ginger was appreciated too and is better than that pink stuff other restaurants serve. The only thing is that it was a little on the expensive side (should probably be $$$ rating). Nonetheless, it was money well spent.

This is a real Japanese sushi restaurant. Food is excellent, with beautiful presentation, and service is superb. Chef Shige's wife is always courteous and kind. If dining in, make sure to have reservations, as this location has only around 20 seats. But I noticed they are always busy with takeout.

I've been coming for years now - still the best sushi I've found on the penninsula. The owners and staff are super friendly as well. It is probably worth booking a table in advance if you want to make sure you can go!

I remember the OG location, I know the family from when I was little, good sushi, very friendly. I do think that from what I have seen that take out is not the best, also kinda confusing. Over all very nice looking, pretty fresh, and good.

The wonderful staff at Sushi Shige helped me organize a surprise meal for my family in NS, and made pickup and the ordering process as easy and friendly as could be. The sushi got rave reviews, and was gone before they could send me another picture. Can’t wait to visit again soon!

We arrived around 1:39pm not knowing they were closing at 2pm. Despite the short amount of time they welcomed us in. Delicious food, great service and clean place. Great spicy miso soup and great quality fish ! Recommended

Food was good, service was good! A bit expensive (portion sizes are small for the price). A can of Sapporo for almost $12? Me and a friend ate well but not extravagantly and our shared bill came to $140 after a 15% tip. Usually I can get in and out of a nice Sushi place for less than $60 a person.

I feel I totally overpaid for the Una Don donburi. $24 for basically a container of rice dusted w seaweed and topped by two turgid and uninspiring pieces of eel. I've had better at grocery stores for much less. Friendly people, cozy place but that meal was not worth $25. Fool me once and I'm done.

It's all about the rice, and they nailed it here. I am visiting from the west coast and this is better than 90% of the stuff out my way. If you're navy and looking for a nice place to take one of your tinder dates, go here. Super nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, and hello kitty soy sauce containers. Not kidding. Hello. My wife and I enjoyed a beautiful Monday night dinner at Sushi Shige tonight - consisting of the most artfully presented and curated fish available anywhere in this city. The simplicity and austerity of their new location adds to the focus on the food, and attention to the spotlessly clean dining room. The service was very attentive and not overbearing in the least. Everything was prepared 'a la minute', and without delay - an advantage to there only being 5 tables available for seating. Congratulations to the family team, on their new venture! A must, for those who appreciate more than the usual dishes available at many Japanese restaurants in Halifax. We will definitely return for the Chef's Choice. :) Very reasonably priced, excellent food in an informal setting.

Phenomenal! Swung in for a bite to eat after running around the city and found the most stunning bowl of sushi I've ever eaten, the kind of thing I've been dreaming about for years; the Chirashi is a mountain of unique and delicious nigiri, generously cut and piled artistically on a bed of savory rice. So much colour, variety and dynamic textures. Well worth the price in every way. I'm so glad I happened to be in the neighborhood and decided to spend a little extra on dinner. There was even more than enough leftover to take home to my girlfriend, who enjoyed it as much as I did. We'll be going back here many times, that's for sure.

Got things to dine-in and take out. The sashimi are fresh! Personally i think it’s a little bit expensive. The food are good and the waitress is very nice and caring. Ps the salad for the meal set is literally 4 pieces of veggies hahahaha. Very cute small portion of salad.

Sushi Shige is absolutely delicious and fresh. There are plenty of options for vegetarians. I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
