This was one wicked fish and chips. Came here on a recommendation from a friend and the fish did not disappoint. The lady who served us was great! Pretty sure she was the owner. Quick, friendly service. But the fish, wow. So good. If I was a local in Halifax I'd be making a visit more often than I care to admit.

One of the best fish and chips I've had. The fish is fresh and the batter is extremely crisp. It would be nice though if the place made their own tartar sauce!

The fish is a 10/10. Really delicious. The breading is just right, crunchy, tasty, not too thick or oily. The fish itself is tender and succulent. Fries definitely need some salt and could be crisper but I enjoyed them nonetheless.

Wow! Did not expect this gem in the suburbs of Halifax. Huge portions, excellent taste. $15 for 3 pcs + chips! Nice cute patio and friendly staff, they even split our order onto 3 plates as requested. Best fish and chips in Halifax. Highly recommend!

During our visit a few months back to Halifax, we tried Freddie’s Fish House. Honestly, we were blown away by the freshness and flavorful nature of every dish we ordered. Although I had the lobster roll, their fish and chips were an absolute standout— easily the best I've ever had. The experience was so delightful that I'd happily make the trip from Toronto just to savor their exceptional dishes again. What made the visit even better was the incredibly friendly staff who made us feel right at home.

Fresh pieces of fried haddock & hand cut fries prepared to order; doesn’t get better than that! Thanks for the wonderful service Nadia and Yvonne. Always appreciated!

3 stars for the lobster roll and 5 stars for the fish portion of the fish and chips. The fish (not chips) is definitely Fredie’s strong suit - one of the best I’ve had. However, the fries weren’t great and soggy. Lobster roll is back but also not great at all. For almost 30 dollars you get barely any lobster meat and on a cold untoasted bun. Just not great at all. Would come back only for the fish.

Okay quick write up as I'm waiting for the family at the local Walmart ...on our East Coast road trip we were determined for a fish and chips meal. We were stuck in traffic and didn't get to the place till about 635pm and this place closes at 7pm. Many places would have rolled their eyes if we came if they saw a family of 6 come in last minute but the staff welcomed us with open arms! Freddie's Fantastic Fish and Chips loves up to their name with some amazing fish and chips served with East Coast hospitality.l! We ordered a 10 piece Family meal which came with a delicious lightly battered Haddock fish, a bunch of hand cut fries (with the skin on!!!!), coleslaw, and gravy. All this for $55! The portions were HUGE and was probably some of the best fish and chips we've ever had Another star was the Seafood Chowder that had big chunks of scallops, lobster, fish and shrimp. So much goodness in a bowl! The best part of this meal was the staff. So nice and accommodating to us when we were there as it really makes the meal so much more special. Freddie's Fantastic Fish and Chips deserves the full 5/5 recommendations in my books! Thank you!

Charismatic spot that serves some seriously good chowder and fried haddock. Being out-of-towners, we also ordered the Newfie fries... think of the turkey dinner version of fries! The restaurant was busy the whole time we were there and the staff were lovely to us. Just watch out for closing times... a little earlier than your typical supper hours.

Love this place. Superior fish and chips. What l love is how big the fish filets are inside the batter. Light and crispy, mouth watering, and addictive. The staff are amazing too. Eat in or outside.

The only thing I would like to see changed is the plastic cutlery. I hope they change it to a more environmentally responsible option. Otherwise this place is wonderful. The staff are only to happy to split an order between two plates. They don't care that people share orders.

Ordered the haddock tips and chips ($14.99) and it was delicious. We ate inside (five of us) on an extremely busy Friday evening and were able to find the perfect amount of seating at the old diner bar which was so nice. There was also a sign that The Fonz had eaten in the restaurant at one of the diner stools! It's definitely our new go-to fish & chip shop!

I recently had the pleasure of trying out Fredie's, and I have to say, I was impressed! The restaurant had a energetic vibe, with friendly staff and a menu that featured a range of fish and seafood options. Of course, the star of the show was the fish & chips, and I was happy to find that they were some of the best I've ever had. The fish was fresh and flaky, with a perfectly crispy batter that was just the right amount of salty and savory. The chips were equally delicious, with a golden-brown exterior and soft, fluffy interior. Overall, I would highly recommend this fish & chips joint to anyone looking for a delicious, satisfying meal. Whether you're a seafood aficionado or just looking to indulge in some classic comfort food, this restaurant is sure to hit the spot.

Ordered a 3 piece fish and chips with what they call Newfie fries. First time visiting, the staff were excellent. The Newfie fries (what we call fries, dressing and gravy in Newfoundland) were very bland compared it to what you actually get in Newfoundland. And the fish was the GREASIEST I have ever eaten. Almost like the fish was deep fried, got cold and were re-fried in grease to warm them up before serving to us. Reference the photo attached. Do not recommend.

What a great place to eat ,friendly staff, fast service ,happy staff. The fish was absolutely amazing. I haven’t eaten there in 3+ years and it was even better that I remembered. Also, the coleslaw is the best I’ve ever ate anywhere in the city.

We enjoyed the fish and chips, poutine, seafood chowder and coleslaw. The fish and chips were crispy, batter is just right (not too oily), and haddock was delicious. We enjoyed the seafood chowder with chunks of fish, scallop and lobster, so good. There are indoor and outdoor seating.

Weekday Special from 12-2pm. 2pc fish and chips $12. They serve canned pop( my favorite) and their poutines are great as well. Great place to grab fish and chips. Family owned. Very pleasant service. I think a lot of people under estimate this small establishment.

Fantastic isn't a strong enough word. My father has been raving about this place for months and I was finally able to go with him the other day. I was absolutely blown away by the food. Hands down the best fish and chips I've ever had (and I've had MANY, its my favorite thing to order when I go out). Portion sizes are pretty insane so if you're a light eater, go with a one-piece. Staff are very friendly and it's very clean. My new go-to for fish and chips. Make the trip to Bayers Lake for it - definitely worth it.

Perhaps my mistake was taking it to go. Chowder was picked full of fresh seafood but a little watery for my liking. Good pieces of fish but too oily for me. Great crunch on it. Fries and fried scallop only okay. Warm friendly staff was a plus!

🫤 Overall experience was not pleasant. This was recommended by my friend, so we thought to give it a try. Bartenders was fantastic, very professional and helpful all around, however, the waitress on the other side was completely different. Not only she forget to check on our table for about 35 minutes...
