In response to Owner’s reply: Choosing to mainly comment on the section of my review regarding an exchange (which I didn’t pursue) VS the clear points of issue discerned throughout (lack of client education, discouraging client autonomy, and disregard for client feedback) speaks volumes. And to your last point attempting to discredit my decision, I’ve had no issues with my 20G. Your response only exemplifies to everyone reading how client concerns are not actually of concern here. Back in February, I booked a jewellery change with Claire Savard to get my nose stud changed out for a hoop. To note, this was over 9 months following my initial piercing (at the Truro location, which was a fantastic experience) and it was fully healed. When Claire asked what I wanted for a hoop, I advised I didn't know much about sizing of hoops, but wanted the smallest possible. Instead of allowing me to take a look at the inventory or provide any education on sizing, she brought me back to the room and left to pick out the hoop she deemed fit. After Claire inserted the hoop and I took a look, I immediately said I felt it was too big and asked if we could try a smaller one. Instead of listening to my concerns, Claire brushed it off and said it was just the initial shock of seeing a hoop on my face and I'd get used to it. I wasn't fully convinced by this, but didn't want to be rude as she's the one with the experience. I then started feeling guilty for questioning Claire, tipped her, and even called after to apologize. However, the next day, I was still very unhappy with the size of the hoop. I reached back out to the store to explain the situation and was contacted by another piercer there who offered to book me in same day to try a smaller hoop. I asked if I would be able to exchange the hoop I had for a smaller one if I liked it better, but they couldn't give me a straight answer. I went ahead and booked, but quickly decided this was a bad idea; I was already out over $150 for the jewellery change by Claire and cost of the hoop and didn't want to spend additional time and money when I couldn't be guaranteed of exchanging the hoop without additional fees. I went to cancel the appointment online, but since I'd booked that same day, the site wouldn't allow me to. Fortunately, I was able to call and get the appointment pushed further out, which allowed me to cancel online. Months went by and I NEVER got used to the size of the hoop. Eventually, I found a reputable site and ordered a 20G 7mm hoop, which looks so much better and is a true fit. For comparison, the hoop Claire inserted was 18G 8mm. Regarding the different gauges/lengths of hoops, this is information I researched afterwards in order to determine my correct sizing; information I should have received from Claire when initially picking out a hoop, but instead was left in the dark then after questioning the sizing told I would "get used to it". Claire shouldn't be providing services to clients if she is unable to properly size hoops, unable to provide any guidance to clients on hoop sizing so they can make an informed decision, and most importantly, and on the most basic level of providing a service, be able to address client concerns.

The appointment with Claire went very great, she is a very nice person and it will be a great experience if you make an appointment with her. But the other piercer at the studio, Brandon, was really disappointing. I only made an appointment for a jewelry change and it was just a bead that needed to be screwed on under my rook, which didn't have to touch my piercing, but he still refused. Not because of my piercing, but I was rejected because "this jewelry was not purchased in-store." This is really ridiculous and hilarious, I've been to several piercing studios and I just wanted to find one that had a avaliable slot. When I done my first time replace my jewelry in this studio, Claire was very helpful. It was because I had lost part of my industrial and she used guide pins to help me get it back as before. But this is my second time here and I was told this reason, which is really interesting, if I can't replace it with my own jewelry, what is the jewelry exchange program at this studio? I strongly recommend that remove the jewelry exchanges on the website and change to jewelry or piercing after-sales, oh sorry, I got jewelry and piercing after-sales at other studios for free instead of costing 5 or 10 bucks and wasting time🙃. New update: Whether you are the owner of the studio or Brandon himself, I would like to say that if my jewelry exchange at your studio was successful the first time it was your problem and it was your unprofessional behavior that made me choose this place again. Don't think about shifting conflicts and problems to customers. When I do exchange my jewelry, they did not check any of my identity documents or sign any agreement.About the "standard jewelry" was not marked on your website. The truth is your studio just wants to sell high premium jewelry, if you are a customer looking for a piercing studio and are reading this comment please choose another local studio they are more friendly than deal with my reply so mean, cold, cruel and unprofessional.

Billie did my step daughter's bellybutton piercing on the weekend, and I must say it was the best piercing experience I've ever had. They were very professional, explained everything in great detail, and were over all very throughout. Would recommend Billie to anyone! Lovely, talented person!

I had Brandon as my piercer and I could not be more thrilled with the entire experience. I had existing piercings and ear tattoos and Brandon really took the time to go over my options and what would look best with my ears. The piercing turned out great and I LOVE the jewlery we picked out but what stood out the most to me was the professionalism and care that Brandon uses with his clients. I have never felt so welcome and safe in a shop before and I didn't feel rushed or pressured which I've had at other places. Brandon truly cares about his clients, his work, and is just an amazing human being all around. I will definitely be back and will recommend Skin Decisions to anyone who will listen. My mom and I were in yesterday for some new piercings (both not having any for a while) and Claire was absolutely amazing from making us comfortable, explaining the entire process, to even helping pick out the best pieces that would fit us just right. She took the time to get to know us and we both felt very cared for and not rushed. Highly highly recommend!The entire shop was lovely. We already can't wait to come back!

Had an appointment this evening to have 2 piercings done with Brandon. I was a bit nervous before arriving but wow did he ever make me feel comfortable! Kind, professional, genuine and so precise! He took his time mapping out locations, did not rush the process at all and talked me through the entire thing. The shop is beautiful, clean, modern and inviting. I will absolutely be recommending them to everyone.

Brandon was AMAZING, so kind, supportive, gentle and communicative through the whole process. Was excellent about consent and ensuring my comfort through each step of 3 different piercings. Both staff members present were lovely, welcoming and very knowledgable. The studio is impeccably clean. Very nice space, everything looked new and well-kept. Awesome selection of jewellery and impressive sourcing of quality materials. Love that they have coloured titanium at fair prices as well. 10/10 would recommend!

Just got a piercing there from Claire and she was the nicest ever, the perfect mix of professional and personable! She was so helpful in picking out the jewelry and the placement for my piercing, I just cant get over how good that experience was! The whole experience was just clean and easy, exactly how you want a piercing appointment to go. It is expensive but soooo worth it for the wonderful service and the high quality jewelry. I love my piercing and would so absolutely recommend her to anybody looking to get a piercing.

Piercer was AMAZING, but the jewellery is highly overpriced. It cost me over $200 to get my lobes pierced with their most basic jewellery... found the same implant-grade opal studs at an online piercing store for $35/pair where they were $55/EACH here. It was a lovely experience, but I just can't figure out why the jewellery is SO expensive. EDIT in response to owner reply: TLDR - I just don't want someone else to be blindsided like I was, because other places included lobe piercing jewellery prices as a set. It's fine that you don't, it's just not necessarily as obvious as someone who already KNOWS they're sold individually might think! :) My receipt for the visit was over $200 with the piercing fee, minus the tip it still would have cost $180. I did a lot of digging trying to find implant-grade titanium (ASTM F136) without breaking the bank, and it *does* exist outside of the Neometal brand. I did see the "starting at $50" note in the booking system, so before booking, I checked the website for specific prices for individual pieces. I found the section for "Matched Pairs", and I had just assumed they were sold as pairs because of the category name, the pictures, and because most places do. I'm sure if I did some digging, I could have figured it out, but I was just doing a preliminary search to try and get an estimate, as I was also taking my little sister to get her lobes done and she was using her birthday money. I ended up feeling like a complete jerk, because she had to spend ALL her money just to get some basic jewellery on her lobes. You can blame that on me, I know I do, but the store could have been more clear for us newbies who were visiting a real piercing studio for the first time. I understand wanting to provide the safest, best quality jewellery possible, I truly applaud that! I'm just of the opinion, after google-fooing the brands and what metals/jewels are used in the manufacturing of the brands offered at this store, I simply believe that the products themselves are overpriced.

got my septum pierced with Claire about 2 weeks ago! i had it pierced previously, but incorrectly. the healing was so painful and i went to Claire for her opinion and we decided to remove it. after healing for many months i returned to get this one, and i could not be more thrilled. healing has been amazing, little to no pain at all. Claire was professional and explained everything in detail and answered all of my questions. i would highly recommend anyone at skin decision, it is worth every penny!

Brandon did an incredible job with my 2 piercings, very meticulous and respectful throughout (asking consent to touch and pierce). My one piercing had some difficulty but he fit me in for an appointment as soon as possible to remedy the situation. Definitely will be back!

The studio is soooo pretty and has a really nice energy to it. Claire was my piercer and she was absolutely phenomenal. I normally faint at needles but I did not during my three piercings in my one appointment. Extremely professional and I walked away knowing I will be returning for more piercings in the future here :). Amazing amazing amazing.

The gentleman at the counter was exceptionally catty and patronizing to me but his coworker was absolutely wonderful and she helped me pick out new jewelry. Expensive but high quality, though I'd rather not be scolded by a business I'm trying to support.

Got my eyebrow done yesterday with Brandon, it was my first piercing so he was super informative and reassuring about any questions I had. He made sure the placement was exactly where I wanted it and it turned out great! Hopefully it’ll heal well and I’ll definitely be back to get some more done :)

I was pierced by Brandon, had an ear consult/design appointment and ended up getting new jewelery and 4 new piercings. Brandon was super friendly, helpful, and thorough. Had an amazing experience with Claire. She was fast, efficient and incredibly safe/sanitary. She made me feel so comfortable and the piercing (lobes) was essentially painless. The jewelry is on the pricier side but still reasonable for the quality. Would return for any future piercings!

The Halifax Skin decisions shop was recommended for piercings by a friend. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish, I booked in with Brandon and was treated with the very best care and consideration. Frequent check in's and strong communication skills helped me feel relaxed, confident and safe. He and Clair were very warm, welcoming and kind. The shop itself is very clean, well maintained, stocked and equipped, well decorated and the jewelry is gorgeous!!! I give it 10 stars.

Brandon was really great. I was visiting Halifax from out of town and ran into a piercing emergency. Despite being worried that it wouldn’t be salvageable, he was really kind and helped save the piercing. Would highly recommend.

I only go to Skin Decision for any and all piercings. They have an amazing variety and different options of jewelry for your piercing all from a variety of price points. This has to be one of the most sterilized places ever!! Everyone who pierces here is a member of APP which has high standards and is a must when creating wounds in one’s own body to ensure they heal correctly and in a healthy manner. Claire and Brandon are amazing humans who take pride in their work and care with their clients to pick the perfect piercing, jewelry and placement. They offer an array of piercings by appointment only. You’re sure to find a perfect piece! Highly recommend!

Very clean and very professional experience. My daughter had her ears pierced. Kind, considerate and reassuring. Everything was perfectly done. The place has a very welcoming and inclusive vibe. I’d say kindness shone through the most. Thank you for a great experience. :)

I have had NOTHING but the BEST experience with everyone at Skin Decisions. Not only are the piercers professional with great expertise, but the staff has also helped me figure out my piercing end goal (if that even exists) guiding me along the way to customized ear curations. I do have to say, for one piercing, I went Against the advice of Claire for the placement and ended up hating it. It was my fault, I'm kicking myself for not listening to her, the expert. Yet she took the time to inform me on possible courses on action to ensure I love the final outcome. They are seriously great and deserve more than 5 stars.

Highly Recommend. I got my septum pierced by Brandon (Oct 27th). I was extremely nervous. The service Brandon provided was very professional. I felt very comfortable, Brandon helped me feel better about my nerves and was very friendly, wonderful energy. Brandon explained every single detail before doing anything, asked before doing anything with the tools, and also kept checking on me the entire time. It did hurt but not nearly as bad as I thought it would have, it was very quick. I haven't had any issues with healing so far, I forget it's even there! Sometimes if my dog bumps it or if I forget and go to wipe my nose (which I try very very hard not to do either of those I've gotten better at avoiding those situations), it does hurt a lot! But other then that it's doing fantastic. I also really love the placement! It's in the perfect spot. I'm really happy I choose this shop, I looked for months trying to decide. Looking at the shops & Brandon's instagram really helped, I loved so many of his piercings, there was so many photos of his work, I was set where I wanted to go. Best piercers in halifax 100%. Have had 4 piercings from them so far, some untraditional ones included. Have had some done locally elsewhere as well.
