    A review of People's Jewellers poor item quality and lazy customer service online and rude in-store associates. They act like it isn't the lowest rated jewellery store in all of Canada. These reviews speak for themselves. If I could rate less than 1 star, I would. People's has stolen my ring, stolen my money, and wasted months of my time with still no resolution. I purchased a ring along with other items and the ring lost a stone 2 weeks after purchase, I returned the ring hoping for a repair, but weeks later I was called and quoted that the ring would not fall under the year manufacturers warranty and that I would have to pay the same price I had paid for the ring just to replace a missing stone. I refused repair and asked for a refund, in which I was told it would not be a problem as it fell within my 60 day return period and to visit the store I had returned the ring to. I drove 1.5 hours to visit the store and was told I would have to go through online support to get my refund, so I went home and called support and they told me to visit my nearest store. They ensured me someone would be able to do the return with absolutely no problems whatsoever, so I returned. Again, I was told I would have to go through an online rep as I purchased it online and not in store. I received a call today asking where the ring was at, and that they would not be able to give me a refund as it's been over the 60 day return policy. People's has INTENTIONALLY drawn out the refund and return to ensure I would not get my ring repaired and that I would not get my money back. People's has the worst in-store customer support, where their associates are rude and unproductive, and has the worst online costumer care. Save your time and money and go to a jeweller that actually cares about their customers.

    Went to buy wedding rings and was literally insulted by the person who tried to help us. Twice. Firstly said my fiancés fingers were too swollen, made a weird comment about my hands, then said “oh you have tattoos. I don’t like them but I guess people get them anyway.” Cut them off halfway through looking at rings because my partner and I weren’t comfortable and didn’t want what should be a lovely experience marred by this guy’s rudeness. Complained to Another associate and they basically said “that’s too bad.” Wow. If you can, avoid this place. We went to another store and had the perfect experience and bought our rings on the spot.

    My wife purchased a very expensive necklace from Peoples in April. In Aug. The spring on the clasp let go. We did not buy extended warranty but we were sure they would cover it as it is only barely 4 months old. They wanted to charge us $100 to repair it. I will never shop there again.

    I purchased a beautiful diamond ring at Peoples Jewellers June 5th while vacationing in Ottawa. When I returned home to Halifax on June 7th I took it into Peoples as it needed to be resized. The ring was size 7 and I required a 6-1/4. They sent away to Montreal and the ring came back July 11th. When I tried it on it seemed to fit a little snugger and thought it was ok but realized that it was still too loose shortly after I got home, so instead of taking it back to Peoples I took the ring to my Jeweller with 40 years experience and knew I would get the ring sized properly. Plus it felt a little rough on a couple of edges of the setting. He was shocked as soon as he looked at it with his little eye piece, he said, watch this and took his nail and popped out one of the centre diamonds. He said there are claws missing. He could not believe that I did not lose both diamonds and shocked that two claws were missing. Also, they sized it wrong. I originally told them to make it 6-1/2 but then the saleswoman said that it was probably still a little too large and that they would make it a little smaller which they did not. I said to my Jeweller that the work order indicated to decrease the size by 3mm which he indicated is not correct. It should not have been worded that way. I was asked whether I am going back to Peoples and I said no way. I want the work done properly so I can feel assured that the work is done right and I would be waiting another 5 weeks or more because of the claw work that would need to be done. And I would probably end up arguing with Peoples and its just best that I never deal with them again and I may help someone else. So Buyers Beware!! I am relieved that my ring is in good hands now

    I was in the store looking around for wedding sets. As soon as I walked in a feminine male asked me "can I help you find anything?!" And it was loud and he looked at me like I was in his way. I said I was looking for engagement rings (I have vision problems) and he waved his hand in a shooing gesture and said "over there" and waved his hand toward a desk of over 8 glass displays. I asked if there were wedding sets and he said "over there." He literally walked away and walked up to a couple and said "did you guys wanna try anything on?!" In a nice retail voice. I felt very dismissed and like he thought I was wasting his time so he disregarded me. Unfortunately, now I wouldn't drop a dime in a store like that. I have told all of my friends and family, and staff as I also manage a retail store in the mall. Do better.

    A couple of weeks ago, my rating would have been much lower, however, the staff recovered well from the situation and I want to give them credit for that. We had an absolutely terrible (like 0/5 stars) experience with the purchase of my wedding ring set in Ontario. As a result, they gave us a lifetime warranty care package. Every other year, I send my set in to be reset and replated. When I dropped my set off on July 24, they said it would be gone 4-6 weeks. I'm a reasonable person- as long as I am given clear, transparent expectations. It got to 6 weeks and we hadn't heard anything, so I called in to see where they were. To hear someone on the other end of the phone say "I'm sorry - I can't seem to find them in the system. I have no idea where they are" causes a bit of panic. The woman was very kind, patient and empathetic. But that didn't change the fact that they couldn't locate my rings. She told me she was going to look into it further and get back to me the next day with an update. I received a call the next door from our local store - explaining that it was in fact an 8-10 week wait and that my rings were still in for processing. Again, if we had been given that timeline in the beginning, we wouldn't have panicked. Anyways, they put a rush on them at that point, and I got to pick them back up last Saturday; 9 weeks after we dropped them off. They look beautiful and I am happy to have them back. But please be sure to ask and clarify timelines when you are dropping things off.

    I went in to get my ring cleaned, inspected and resized. Two grey haired women working, one training a sweet new employee and a purple tinted woman helping another customer. Neither smiled, greeted me or acknowledged me. The new employee who was actually helping someone, eventually stopped to smile, thank me for being patient and said she’d be with me. After waiting a fair amount of time, I was finding it difficult to stand. I use a cane. Neither women offered for me to take a seat. Instead of helping me, the grey haired woman assisted a later customer and the new employee came to help me. She was so sweet but admitted it was her first day. No fault of her own, she was getting things confused. I apologized to her and asked if she wouldn’t mind getting help from the other staff as I was running late. I repeatedly apologized to her as I didn’t want her to feel bad and she was more than understanding. Enter purple tint “Bev” who I discovered is the assistant manager. She spoke down to me (I had brought the wrong black folder and didn’t have the most updated receipt), was condescending. She made snide remarks toward me and when I asked who the manager was she told me she was the assistant. In response to her question I told her I wanted to speak to the manager about her attitude. That set her off, asked me what I was referring to and when I tried to dismiss her, I told her never mind that it didn’t matter. She persisted to tell me why she didn’t have attitude…all the while I’m trying to move past it as I didn’t want to make a scene. Bev briskly turned away, condescendingly told me to have a great day and proceeded to talk loudly about me to the other grey haired lady as she briskly walked to the back of the store with the other staff giving me dirty looks as they talked about me. The new employee brought my ring back and I was embarrassed with how tBev was treating me. She was visibly upset and I has two other customers look at me as Bev showed her displeasure with me. I told the new employee I thought I would come back another time to get the resizing done. I could feel myself tearing up from embarrassment. Bev was walking by, overheard me and said snidely that she would still be there when I come back. I asked the new employee if she thought Bev was rude to me or if it was just me and then I left quickly. I have never felt so embarrassed and disrespected by store employees. I was not rude. I wasn’t causing a scene but obviously offended the assistant manager. Instead of her trying to find out how to make things better, she stormed around the store visibly ticked off and speaking about me to the point that I had two other customers look at me questioningly.

    Absolutely terrible customer service. I purchased an engagement ring for my wife, along with extended warranty. Our local store in Sydney, NS closed, so we could not have the regular inspections done, to maintain the warranty. Recently a diamond fell out, and when we contacted Peoples. They said the warranty is now void, since we didn't drive 5 hours to Halifax to have the inspections done.

    I went in looking for a birthday present for my friend. I politely asked if they carried any gold plated rings and the lady who greeted me was trying to help me, she seemed new. A gentleman (employee) very rudely interrupted me “THIS IS A HIGH END FINE JEWELRY STORE, WE DO NOT SELL CHEAP JEWELRY LIKE THAT” he then proceeded to say “maybe you should go to Winners or WALLLMARTTT you might find something there, we ONLY sell fine, high quality jewelry”. Instead of politely informing me and stating that they unfortunately do not as they only carry solid gold jewelry and apologize for not being able to assist and perhaps make a nicer suggestion, as Fossil and Pandora carry gold plated jewelry. The employee was very dismissive, judgmental and rude and I did not like the way he treated me or talked to me. I do not recommend this place of business at all.

    I live on the south shore and this is the only jewelry store I deal with. They are always so friendly. I wasn't able to pick up my online order because of the big flood in July but Bev the assistant manager held it for me til I made it in yesterday. She was so friendly and great to deal with. They always had my business when I lived in Halifax and they still have my business since I moved back home.

    I recently had the pleasure of working with Jason “AGAIN” in designing a diamond ring for my wife for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. I felt confident that Jason would get me exactly what she was looking for, and he went above and beyond in helping me make that happen. Jason sat with us numerous times during this process to make sure that everything was PERFECT. After everything was decided for the ring Jason kept us in the loop every step of the way. I think he was just as excited as my wife was to see the finalization of the ring. It was everything she wanted and more. Jason is GREAT at his job and treats all of his clients as his best friend. If you are looking for someone to put you first in your jewelry needs, you need to visit Jason at Peoples in Halifax Shopping Centre. You won’t be disappointed!!!

    I have been going to Peoples in the Halifax shopping centre for years. My husband and I love this store. We get the highest level of service and everyone is so friendly! Jason is the absolute best! Friendly, fun, genuine and an all around caring individual. He has always gone above and beyond to make sure we are taken care of and happy. The little things make a big difference. He actually cares! I recommend this store to so many people! Thank you for everything you have done for us over the years!

    The first great experience we had with Jason was back in 2020 when he helped my husband pick out the perfect engagement ring for me - he made it a seamless process in the midst of store closures due to the COVID pandemic. Fast-forward 3 years when we needed help sorting out the warranty on my ring after there being a system issue with the diamond bond #, Jason went above and beyond to ensure it was corrected. After an HOUR of his valuable time spent on the phone with customer care with lots of back and forth, as well as time spent on hold, we were good to go. He was patient, professional and kind through the whole process. If you’re looking for someone who’s both an expert in jewellery and will provide you with a top notch experience he’s your guy. Thank you, Jason!!

    Fiance purchased a men's ring for me for our engagement. It arrived with dents, scratches and the stone was crooked. We brought it into the Halifax location and asked for the same ring to be ordered without the defects. They said they could process the refund but, now that the ring was no longer on sale, she would need to put the full value on her card and wait for a processed refund to come through for the difference. To me, the fact it's not on sale anymore means nothing... She purchased the ring, it arrived damaged, it's Peoples' responsibility to replace at the exact same value. After 2 hours and multiple calls with customer service, we left our phone number and asked that the in-store representative call us when a solution has been offered. We have received no call back. In fairness, the store manager (Colleen) was extremely kind and helpful however, this situation was an eye opener. They lost our business and we will not be recommending People's to anyone we know. Pretty sad for an organization who boasts to be the leaders in their industry.

    Jason was absolutely incredible to deal with!!! Like 10/10. I would highly recommend him. Professional, Personable and punctual. I bought my girlfriend an engagement ring from him. She fell in love with it (and said yes) I even got lucky that night thanks to Jason ;)

    I’ve been with people’s for a while, since I was a poor student to a working professional. My experience in Toronto was great and then had a bummer experience in Vancouver when I was getting engaged. The staff in Halifax totally turned it around for me. I am a bit fussy and take a long time to decide. The staff at the halifax location have been friendly. I see a positive change in people’s customer service online as well. Thank you!
