What a magical place. Walking in, you're transported to another world, going back in time to a familiar and cozy place. The decor is unreal, so beautifully curated. The menu is robust, lots to choose from. Flavours are on point and authentic. Personally I would diversify the drinks menu but the beers do go with the vibe and the food. A great addition to the North End and definitely a new place to visit regularly.

Food was delicious! Had the boiled dinner, pure comfort food. Atmosphere was great! Loved all the little touches, original (or near original) pieces of the old house; tables and chairs etc from other pubs from around Halifax that had closed. Staff were also lovely! Looking forward to going again soon.

While visiting family in Halifax, we had the opportunity to have dinner at The Narrows. It was a wonderful experience in every way! This inconspicuous gem made for a truly magical evening of nostalgia and fine dining. From the moment you enter, you just know that this will be a special occasion. Warm and inviting, lots of interesting decor, top notch service and attention, excellent selection of local beer, and a menu that will please everyone in your company. Some shared appetizers were praised by all. I had the boiled dinner and it was simply amazing!

It's absolutely phenomenal! Stopped in for lunch after hearing nothing but good stuff about the Narrows pub and was not disappointmented. My server was excellent. They were attentive, friendly, welcoming, and quick with my orders. The atmosphere was super unique and cool. The food was excellent, I had the fried chicken sandwich, which was spot on. Definitely an absolute must try for anyone in the North End.

I wish I had known…. Stopped in on our way to dinner for a few drinks. If I had known how cool and nice this place was, I would’ve planned to have dinner here instead. Great vibe, service and from what I can tell from others around us that had food, it looked delicious. Will definitely try to come back on our next visit to Halifax.

This place is cool and lively. The food was very good. I had the Dutch Mess and it came with amazing homemade bread. Definitely would recommend. Other got the hot chicken sandwich and they loved it! It’s loud but in a good way - you can still hear everyone at your table but there is a good buzz happening. Service was just fine. Server was not overly friendly (but definitely not rude). Did their job and that’s enough for me to 100% go back!

Loved this place, went on recommendation from friends and were not disappointed. They don't take reservations, so show up and be ready to wait for a little bit at one of the standing bars and enjoy a drink. The place is in an old home, and feels just as cozy as I'm sure it once did. Servers are all friendly and knowledgeable, and the food... We started with the mushroom toast which was fantastic (highly recommend), then we had a hot chicken and stuffing and a Bologna sandwich, both of which were great and very generous portions. Their house-made pickles were so sweet and savoury we asked if we could buy a jar! Great spot, great vibe, ambiance like your grandma's house. Highly recommend!

I found this place on Google Maps when I was looking for something within walking distance to a concert I was playing. I did not regret it! I had the Fried Chicken burger and it was fantastic. The chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, so it was perfect. The butter for the molasses bread I also ordered had little flakes of sea salt in it, which made it a little crunchy, but so good. My food come within 10 minutes of ordering it. It has a cozy little pub/house atmosphere, with lots of dark wood and nooks everywhere. Very nice servers as well! Will definitely be back :)

Holy moly! I cannot speak highly enough of my experience at The Narrows today. The historic charm of the space is elevated by the eclectic decor, which is cozy and quirky; there is always something interesting to look at without being too busy. The food was unbelievable: generous portions made from locally sourced ingredients at very reasonable prices. The bread was out of this world. I didn't know a salad could be so satisfying or a soup so comforting. YUM. I wish I could award more than 5 stars. I will be back soon, and often.

This was some of the best food I've eaten out in a while. We ordered the Dutch mess and the fish and chips. The fish in the fish and chips was so crispy yet still tender on the inside. The Dutch mass was wonderfully creamy and full of flavor. The service was excellent. I was really impressed by this place, will absolutely go back.

Excellent food and amazing ambiance. Staff was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is very cozy and has a eclectic mix of antiques around as well as books and cribbage boards by each table. I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed my meal here. Next time I am in Halifax I will definitely go back!

We just moved to Halifax from Edmonton and decided to go for a beer close to our location. This wonderful establishment was close and my wife seen it on Tik tok so we decided to give it a try. The vibes were great, everyone was relaxed and having cold drinks and food. On this particular evening they had a live band going which was top notch and added to the experience. Due to it being busy, the wait was long for food and tables but they serve beer and you can hang out and socialize in the lobby till a table opens up. We asked if it was usually this busy and due to the live band, it was extra busy! Heck, my wife and I just relaxed and watched the band until we could get some food which was lovely. We got seated and my wife and I got the bologna sammy, fried Pepperoni and sausage and mash. Their menu is curated towards old fashioned home cooked meals for maritimers and my wife is originally from Cape Breton. The food was great and service was on par as well. The bill was about 140 without tip but well worth a good date night. This included the food, 5 beers and an old fashion. Highly recommended and will 100 percent be going back.

This is, without a doubt, the PERFECT pub. The beer selection is phenomenal, the portions are generous (good luck finishing the fish and chips!), and the ambience transports you to another time and place. The sign on the front door says to grab a seat and make yourself at home, but from the moment you step through the doorway you'll already feel welcomed and at home. Thom and Jona are fantastic behind the bar, and every server and manager I've met has been kind and hospitable. This place deserves all the praise it gets, and I can't wait to visit again soon.

Very cool venue, exceptionally unique compared to other places in Halifax. Very good food, unique menu. Service was incredible. They made a special non alcoholic mock tail for our friend upon request. One unfortunate thing is that they don't do reservations. Was hoping to head here with my family that was visiting from afar but I don't like risking open seating for folks who travel from away. That being said we went with a smaller group of local friends and didn't have an issue getting a seat. Just always nice to have that bit of security to rely on for larger parties/plans.

Just heard about this place yesterday and had to come check it out. The atmosphere here is amazing if you like that homestyle feel. The decor and vibe is so welcoming and familiar (especially growing up in the Maritimes). The staff were all very nice and accommodating, even when we had to wait for a table. The food was delicious and the portions were just the right amount of food. This is a place I will definitely check out again.

There is no words to describe how incredibly awesome this pub is. Literally it makes you swell up inside your chest with some sort of nostalgic emotion that at once brings tears to your eyes and at the same time a bubbly joy of serene existence knowing that somehow, all is well with the world. This feeling is experienced even before tasting one bite of food. The food........it is so good that we are going to come back and eventually try everything on the menu. I don't even want to tell you what we had - just know that we tried food we would never have ordered anywhere else. And it was delicious. The live music was perfect. The drinks - well they were a whole new level. Have you ever had beer from a cask instead of a keg? So smooth - velvety is the best way to describe it. Have you tried pear cider? Highly recommend - so much nicer (in my opinion) than apple cider. We didn't have wine but one notable thing - we saw that those wine glasses given to other guests were PROPERLY FULL. No skimping here. In fact, there was no skimping in any direction whether it be food, drink, decor, entertainment or friendliness.... This pub is a special place. Thank you to the people who own it and who work there! We look forward to visiting again.

My favourite place to bring visitors to Halifax. Great atmosphere, so much history has been brought into this place and it feels like home no matter where in Nova Scotia you are from. Food is great, fantastic service as well.

Warm setting with well made tasty dishes. A good place to sit and enjoy some brews. We had potted smoked mackerel, bologna sandwich, and fish and chips. Cold beers to drink.

My daughter and I had a great evening out at The Narrows. It was our first time in. What a lively venue! The old Victorian heritage home turned public house has an interesting mix of styles, artifacts, local emphemera, books, photographs, etc. The service was fast, coordinated, and friendly. The menu was a nice selection of dishes, many that I hadn't had before. The wings were huge and very tasty. The pickle jar was so good I wanted to order more and take them home! I opted for the cheeseburger which was delicious and prepared exactly the way a burger should be - appropriately sized and sauced so that it was easy to manage. We arrived at the just the right time and it got pretty busy later. So early is better if you're looking for a table!

Went for lunch with my sister for her birthday. We shared the *Massive! Fresh! Crispy!* order of fish and chips, and shared soup of the day and the chopped salad. All excellent. Dessert was light and delicious, too! Atmosphere is cozy pub with lots of different kinds of seating depending on your mood (corner nook for 2? Bench style for 5? This place has options!) Anthony was our server and he was so helpful with the menu and also our questions about the historic nature of the place. He made an already beautiful place shine. It's obvious a LOT of thought and care has gone into this place. What a great way to start the week. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

This place really lives up to all of the 5 star reviews! Dined here with friends for dinner and had a wonderful experience. I loved the broccoli and Brussels sprouts, the burger looked amazing, and the prices are excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Another 5 star review from me! Go for the food, the service, and their collection of antiques from Nova Scotian history.

🫤 Overall experience was not pleasant. This was recommended by my friend, so we thought to give it a try. Bartenders was fantastic, very professional and helpful all around, however, the waitress on the other side was completely different. Not only she forget to check on our table for about 35 minutes...
