We just stay here for 4 days during the spring break. The hotel is very clean and beautiful. All the staff are friendly to help all the time. The equipment in the room are all looks new and clean. The bed is very very comfortable. However, the pillow is too high for me since I have a neck problem, also not good for kids. But for people who loves the high pillow, it’s the perfect one. The best part is the washroom, very convenient with wet and dry separation. The steakhouse at lobby is also convenient for order some foods even at late night. Will absolutely come back to stay again in the future!

I cannot find anything negative about this hotel. Check-in was easy and quick. Room was clean and nicely laid out. I love the view afforded by full length windows. The bedding is so comfortable that I'm looking to buy the exact same for home. Room service was quick and food was good. It's a great location with underground parking. A very nice addition to Halifax.

The hotel is close to the pier, the room is clean and tidy, and the bedding is very comfortable. The service staff of the hotel has great business skills. When we checked in, the lady at the front desk, Olivia, helped us upgrade the room for free, which resolved our little embarrassment because the room had not been cleaned up. Her gentleness and caring were the first time I came to Halifax ,I feel the friendliness of the people here, thank you.

Rooms were clean, very large, and very modern. All staff were very kind. For the price I think I would expect some more amenities like a pool. But the gym was very extensive, which was much appreciated. I found myself walking down to the waterfront most of the time as well, so I still needed to do some walking to the main restaurants. The lobby is very small and for some reason extremely crowded and the day I arrived it was fully blocked off and packed with people. For the price, I would prefer a more spacious relaxing lobby where my family can go relax while I check in. Instead we had to all hover because there was nowhere else to wait.

Beautiful hotel with great location! Rooms were well appointed, beds comfortable and loved the complimentary Nespresso coffee. But I will say when you're staying at a hotel like this, it's the details that matter... After many days of driving through Cape Breton we were looking forward to a little luxury and got it, however, of all the places we stayed on our Nova Scotia trip, our greeting at check in was the "coolest" (as in not very warm). We arrived a little early and asked if we could check in. Woman at reception said room wasn't ready which was fine. She took our name and number and said she'd call when it was. That was at 2pm. We grabbed lunch nearby and came back around 3pm and sat within her view in the lobby. She was clearly not busy and apparently not interested in checking on our room availability because she actively ignored the four of us. She went on break and my husband went back to reception and surprise! Another reception worker found a room that was ready. Was her coolness a big deal? No, but it was clear for whatever reason (and I suspect it's because we booked the room on points, which in fact makes us loyal customers) she wasn't looking out for us. I've stayed at several 5 stars and so was surprised by the underwhelming greeting in what has to be the nicest, friendliest city in Canada.

Fantastic location! Walking distance to the waterfront and all the restaurants. Spacious and beautifully decorated room. Staff were all very friendly. Only issue we had was there was no water in the room and no actual fridge. The fridge provided is a mini bar and you can not move anything otherwise you will be charged. We had leftover food and could not even but it in the fridge.

Hands down the best hotel I've been to in the HRM. Service is amazing, the rooms are beautifully decorated, it's in the heart of downtown with an outdoor spa tub, a well equipped gym and such a wide variety of rooms. The staff treats you so wonderfully and every stay makes me want to go back.

The hotel was marvelous and the room was very modern, elegant, quiet, high-tech, with luxury materials (beautiful lighting and I loved the espresso machine in lieu of the standard coffee machine). The customer service was top-notch and wonderfully gracious and friendly. Its location is in the very heart of Halifax. I'm looking forward to visiting here again next time.

I was really looking forward to staying here but the check-in process was less-than friendly. I was treated like a bother, which was a very very sore way to start a 3-night stay. The other people in my group who dealt with a different reception staff, didn't seem to have an issue so maybe this was an isolated experience? Other than that, the rooms are clean and the bed is very comfortable. Hope it gets better.

My husband and I stayed four nights recently and had a great experience. The hotel is SUPER quiet, we never heard any noise from adjoining rooms. It was extremely clean. The bed was really comfortable and we slept like babies. I also really liked the decor. The location is walkable to the waterfront, lots of restaurants, and sights. Special thanks to the housekeeping manager Ganga who was very responsive and helpful when we realized three days later that we left our passports in the room safe! I would definitely stay here again.

Great stay with very well appointed rooms. The only black mark was the valet service - we were told by the valet desk that it was $36 for the entire stay - not per night. When I explained this to the front desk, the reversed the additional parking charges. Similarly, our first room was facing an office tower and therefore lacked privacy. The front desk agents were super helpful and switched us to a room with a better view. The rooftop hot was also a nice treat! The open showers felt luxurious!

We had waterfront views from our room. Just amazing! Great customer service! The Chop restaurant also amazing. We had a three day event at the Halifax's convention center. Steps away from the hotel. Only negative thing was coffee not served in the hotel til 8:00 am. Coffee maker in room for expresso only. Otherwise, we had an incredible delightful stay.

Everyone there was very accommodating and kind. They allowed an earlier check-in and held our bags after checkout so we could walk around before having to leave. It's at a great place in the city where everything is less than a 15-minute walk. And the room was super clean and nice!

We didn’t stay there , my wife just took the kids and rest in their hall. People are super nice. When my little one had a poo poo emergency, the staff guided us quickly to their shiny bathroom. What a service!

I visited Halifax for a business conference along with about 20 of my colleagues, all of whom stayed at Sutton Place, and our expectations were exceeded and then some! We arranged a group room block with the sales team of Jill and Tyler, who could not have been more responsive, accommodating, and just plain lovely. My entire group checked in with ZERO issues (thanks to the equally superb reception staff!) and I heard nothing but positive comments from my team about the accommodations, service staff, room amenities, and overall cleanliness. The location of the hotel is also unbeatable given its proximity to the Halifax Convention Center and countless restaurants, bars, and attractions. I can't wait to come back!

A super gorgeous and lovely hotel with amazing service and delicious food. We had a wonderful and romantic stay in our absolutely jaw-dropping room. A few quirks included really terrible cable with no streaming services available on the gigantic TV, and a lot of complications with simply trying to order room service. The phone system didn't work and ordering online was overly complicated (and all of the fees associated with ordering more than doubled the price of the actual item we ordered!). I was also very surprised by the fact that we had to pay for parking and that there were zero spa services.

mixed feelings for this 5-star hotel. although all my reviews are generally positive, this one leaves me a little unsure following my week-long stay. The rooms are clean ( except for the human fluids on the chair ) the price of the hotel is reasonably good considering the central location but the inconsistency of the service is a problem. several employees are smiling and others absolutely unpleasant. One employee made us feel really uncomfortable in the lobby by not ordering alcohol and left in a rude manner. The hotel has a nice gym if you want to take a health break but it's important to note that there is no pool on site. Checking in and out was quick and easy. well done to those who work hard and do their best for customers and a need for improvement for those who have a bad day at work!

It would be nice to have coffee available in the room or lobby for people that have to be up early. The cleaning staff did a fantastic job. Over all it was a pleasant stay. Location is convenient but we were on the 15th floor and got noise from cars going by.

My husband and I stayed here for our 10 year anniversary vacation, and loved this hotel so so much. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious, the rooms were incredibly beautiful and luxurious, and we would definitely stay here again. The sutton place made our stay very special! The only downside was that it's very very noisy in downtown halifax. We were up late (3am) every night we were there because of an alarm in the hotel, or revving engines, screaming, and drumming in the streets at night. I'd recommend asking for a room on the top floor and ask for ear plugs next time, (and extra coffee)! Otherwise, an extremely pleasant experience, and we'd definitely go again.

Simply THE BEST hotel in Halifax. The staff always go out of their way to make your stay unforgettable. Super clean rooms and high end amenities throughout.

The hotel itself and the room were stunningly beautiful. The majority of the staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately although the view was stunning the street noise from below was incredibly loud. On the 11th floor the noise was non stop especially on Saturday night. We did expect it to be busy as it is a downtown location however did not expect that it would sound like the windows were open and we would be forced to listen to a ruckus continue until after 4AM below. Would not recommend staying here especially with children or if you are hoping to rest. For the price of the room our stay was very disappointing and we would not return.

Recently stayed here for a weekend away. Rooms are very nice but cramped. Complaints would be the parking situation is chaotic and very confusing since the parking garage entrance to the Nova Center is right at the same spot and no regular coffee in the rooms. Instead they have espresso which seems like an odd choice. Downtown location is great and central to everything.

We had our 2 small dogs with us and the pet bed and water bowl were a lovely touch. They enjoyed window watching over Citadel Hill. The lounge was very very warm on Dec 2 and we did not stay there due to the heat. The hotel staff, valet and security folks were all very helpful with information. We had a wonderful stay and will return again.

Recently stayed here for one night in a regular king room. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was very nice and well appointed, although I will say it was on the smaller size. Next time I would probably get a bigger room. The view of Citadel Hill from our room was beautiful. Close walking distance to everything in the downtown area. The only negative I can say was about the breakfast. We had the buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant. A lot of our food was cold...for the price I expected better. Other than that we had an excellent stay and I would return!

  • 5/5 Kirsten B. 1 year ago on Google
The staff was very professional and welcoming. Our room was well laid out with full length windows and a great view of the Citadel. The bed was cozy with nice bedding and pillows and the bathroom had a big rain shower and separate wand. The only thing that was missing was soap for the sink to wash your hands. I ended up using the body wash. We didn't use room service but ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and they were both really tasty. Thanks for the stay!

Incredible experience at this Hotel. The facility is stunning, decor is very elegant. Service is top tier some of the best staff we have ever encountered during a Hotel stay. Rooms are beautiful, we'll maintained and stocked with everything from robes/slippers to loofahs in the show. We didn't have to lift a finger from the moment we arrived. I would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone looking to spoil them self on vacation or business trips. We can't wait to come back this summer and enjoy another stay.

We were very happy with our stay. The front desk agent, Daynen was amazing with our check in. We arrived early morning at the hotel knowing we wouldn't be able to check in until later, he took care of our bags and let us know that he would call as soon as the rooms were ready. An hour later we received a call from him and he had our rooms ready. Our party of 8 had 2 rooms reserved and we were so thankful for an early check-in. The doormen were helpful and polite as well. Overall a great experience. Love the decor and the small decorative details, would definitely stay again.

We arrived in Halifax in the evening to find that our original hotel's air conditioning was broken. We were in a tough spot-- we canceled our reservation there and walked to Sutton Place a few blocks away in hopes of getting a room. They were wonderful! Not only did they give us a very good rate for being last-minute walk-ins, but it was a beautiful room with a citadel and harbour view. I was so so happy that we chose this hotel! Everything about it was luxurious. We also made use of the lobby lounge happy hour on two occasions. If we return to Halifax, I would stay here in a heartbeat.

Comfy stay and great location if you’d like to explore downtown Halifax. Staff were all really nice (especially Mike the bellman, who gave us good suggestions for restaurants in the area.) Valet service was convenient. Chop was also really tasty. I would’ve preferred is if they had room service available before 3 pm. It would’ve been nice to have breakfast brought to us. Air conditioning is strong, but only if you have the loud fan blowing. I’m not sure if this was only the case in our room, but the AC didn’t circulate well throughout the room. I slept on the fan side of the bed so I’d wake up freezing. But my husband would be soaked in sweat because the AC was concentrated to that certain corner of the room.

We had a problem with our electricity so had to move rooms. We were upgraded at no extra cost. The staff at the front desk were a pleasure to deal with and the maintenance man was so friendly and accommodating. We were booked in for one night but this hotel is so beautiful we stayed for a second night. Absolutely no complaints.

  • 5/5 Ed V. 1 year ago on Google
As perfect a hotel room as anyone could reasonably want, with suitably grand "hotel bathroom" & seriously comfortable bed. Portion sizes of starters in the restaurant were larger than we expected, so an impromptu "tapas" of onion rings, mushroom & Goat's cheese dip & French onion soup turned out to be a full meal in itself rather than the light snack we had planned after a day of travelling, but were all of excellent quality so we weren't complaining. Treat yourself to a night here, you won't be disappointed. Staff lovely too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sutton Place and were pleased with our decision to stay here for our friends’ wedding. A couple suggestions: larger cups for the double/long pour of the Nespresso would be great to avoid overfilling. Also, I always travel with a reusable water bottle and one of the front desk employees seemed very confused about how to handle my request for water fills. Once I stopped going to the front desk and asked the bar staff instead, getting my bottle refilled was no issue. Providing a purified water fill station for guests in the lobby, or at the very least signage on the preferred hotel policies regarding sustainability efforts would be helpful. Overall, excellent stay and great dinner at Chop.

I stayed here recently from Thursday to Monday, during the Hal-Con weekend, and didn't know what to expect. I had this hotel room booked since March or so, and all I knew was that it was conveniently close to the convention space, and a little more expensive than I would want it to be. The service was great, room was absolutely to die for, very clean, and ancredibly friendly staff. Certainly the hotel had been busy over the weekend. And it is easy for staff to get overwhelmed, but everybody on duty was very friendly and professional, and in a city with many hotels to choose from, that makes all of the difference. As somebody who has spent years working in Hotels, I know a good one when I see one. Already have a room booked for next year's convention. Will be my go to from now on. Thanks for making a great weekend even better!

My daughter and I really enjoyed our one-night-stay last week, and officially declared it "the nicest hotel we've every stayed at!" (and we travel!). The front desk staff were above and beyond pleasant, kind, friendly and accommodated a last min request for an upgrade (at no additional cost & and with zero annoyance/inconvenience). The floor / door staff were helpful with advice re local restaurants, directions, suggestions, modes of transportation. The room was gorgeous, amazing views, comfortable beds, luxurious bathroom & amenities, honestly an A+ experience all around... we will only book here for future trips to Halifax.

We loved our stay at The Sutton Place Hotel Halifax! The staff could not have been more accommodating and gracious. Our room was spotless, and we had a beautiful view of the waterfront. The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of everything - museums, the waterfront, shops, and restaurants. We will definitely be back!

Stayed here for one night, book through the app. Thought we booked a corner suite with a park view on top floors but got a slightly lower floor and water view instead. Robes are really cozy, the rooms are nicely done, very modern. Strange lighting in the closets and under the bathroom sink that came on at random which was not ideal in the evenings. Staff friendly and always at the ready to open the door for us. Location is great for walking around town.

This was a completely different experience from our last stay. The staff was amazing and we had real interactions that showed a level of care that is only found in the best hotels. We had opportunity to speak with hotel managers and were gladdened to hear about how seriously they take guest comfort and care. I would really enjoy staying at this hotel again.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Sutton Place Hotel in Halifax during a trade show, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. I can confidently say that this hotel exceeded my expectations in every aspect, and I am more than happy to share my positive review. First and foremost, the staff at Sutton Place Hotel Halifax were incredibly welcoming and friendly. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service. The hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction throughout our stay. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the plush bedding to the modern amenities. The location of the hotel was perfect for our trade show needs. It was conveniently situated in the heart of Halifax, offering easy access to the exhibition center and other key attractions. The proximity to restaurants, shops, and entertainment options made it incredibly convenient for us to explore the city during our downtime. The dining options at Sutton Place Hotel were exceptional. We had the pleasure of enjoying delicious meals at their on-site restaurant, which boasted a diverse menu and impeccable service. The culinary team showcased their expertise by delivering flavorful dishes that satisfied our taste buds. The breakfast buffet was particularly impressive, offering a wide array of fresh and delicious options to start our day on a high note. The hotel amenities were top-notch. The fitness center was well-equipped and maintained, allowing us to stay active and energized throughout our stay. The business center provided us with all the necessary resources to conduct our work efficiently. Additionally, the hotel's high-speed internet ensured a seamless and reliable connection, which was essential for our trade show activities. Last but not least, I must commend the attention to cleanliness and hygiene. Sutton Place Hotel Halifax maintained strict cleanliness protocols, which gave us peace of mind during our stay. The common areas, rooms, and facilities were spotless, and the hotel staff made sure to adhere to all safety measures to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all guests. In conclusion, Sutton Place Hotel Halifax truly impressed us with their exceptional service, elegant ambiance, prime location, delectable dining options, excellent amenities, and commitment to cleanliness. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Halifax, whether for business or leisure. My stay was nothing short of fantastic, and I cannot wait to return to this remarkable hotel in the future.

Great place to stay. Modern, clean and well decorated rooms all with excellent views! Staff is friendly and attentive; all what you would expect from a 5-star hotel. Will be staying here from now on whenever we are in Halifax!

We were very happy and impressed with our stay. The room was beautiful, with a great view, and finally a hotel room with decent, bright clean lighting! The people with whom we interacted were lovely and kind and helpful. The hotel was great with our 2 dogs and we are grateful that they are welcomed. Thank you for a most enjoyable visit.
