Rooms are spacious for two although we did get a 3 person room. Can hear noise from the road as the hotel is located next to a main road. The hotel itself is very close to the center of Hamburg, just one train station away or approximately 1.5km walk. Buffet breakfast is provided and included in the price. Food is decent with a range of breads, cereals, deli meats and cheese and juice and coffee. The quality of the rooms is okay for what you pay for (cheap/affordable). Safe is provided for 2€. Has a thermostat in the room that you can control. Had an issue with the showerhead being loose so it had to be held when showering. Toilet was awkwardly placed in the corner of the bathroom so can be a tight squeeze to get on and off the toilet but the bathroom is spacey enough. Overall a good hotel to spend a few nights or even a week if you are holidaying on a budget or are a student with an ideal proximity to the central hub of Hamburg.

So Expedia doesn't have it quite right. In my opinion this hotel should be at most a 2 Star and not a 3 star. Ofcourse you have what you need but the fact that there are no smoking signs yet the place smells like a tobacco crusted central was pitiful. It's a good thing we stayed one day. Also it is very dirty. Was not comfortable walking barefoot.

It a basic budget hotel. Rooms plain and functional. Lift starts at 1st floor so you still have to be able to get your self and bags up a flight of stairs. No real facilities to speak of but they do have a fridge you can buy drinks from in the lobby (beer, wine, water, soft drinks) which is handy. There is also parking in a building round the corner which we paid €10.00 per day for. Close to the station but lets say the area surrounding it is very "colourfull" at night. We certainly saw the kind of people that gather round any big city train station (homeless, drunks, prostitutes, people with mental health issues) but never the less we had no problems. One plus is the free breakfast which is basic but generous. If all the above fits your needs its an ok place to stay but don't think the reviews on trip advisor or the other sites are under selling it.

Hotel room was dirty. In shower curtain was mould and shower head was very dirty. Cleaner kept dirty sheets all over corridors. Room was very dirty. Staff was polite and friendly.

Well located. The hotel isn't bad, but it could improve... The rooms are small, but it has to be expected since the prices are low. Bathrooms are in serious need of renovation.

Dont expect the ritz and you wont be dissapointed. The hotel is well priced for the central location. The beds are sooo comfy, the rooms are warm and functional. The brealfast is always the same continental serve yourself, but edible. The staff are all polite and friendly.Dont be worried about the area,it is in a high density multi cultural area but unlike home everyone seems to get along fine The area is frequented by ladies of the night, but a quick "nine bitte"works well.So all in all if you want a warm, comfortable, centrally located hotel, near the station, you could do worse than the hotel Mercades.

Good hôtel near to the Central rail station. Area is cosmopolite. Hotel service is just worthing its price. Just what we needed.

Very attentive staff. Even too much - we asked not to clean our room, but they still did it every day 😅Clean room, good view from the window. A budget option. Worth the money.
