Look at the way the owner handles his poor reviews. It’s clear the place is ran by a terrible human for an owner. Saw the race comment and share a similar experience which is why I felt the need to leave a review. Last year I went to golf, forgot my cigar in my car went to my car to get it (before our tee time) owner came out yelling obnoxiously not to sneak in alcohol (my cigar container holds two cigars just so you can imagine the size container). Man grilled us looked at our carts and felt stupid when he approached us and didn’t even have the balls to apologize. Mind you many carts were in the parking lot at the same time none of them got that treatment. None of us were white maybe just a coincidence… half way through our 18 holes it begins to downpour we go to the club house to wait it out. Club house was packed with golfers bags everywhere. My friend not thinking walks into the store with his bag same guy comes belligerent as heck yelling no bags in store in front of everyone. Sure I understand that’s common practice but for one second he couldn’t even rationalize the place is packed with bags and people. How about politely approaching people and kindly informing them. Maybe race had nothing to do with it but maybe it did. Regardless the owner 100% is a lousy human. If you don’t have patience dealing with people let someone who does manage the place.

Kept getting unsolicited calls from their marketing team trying to sell me advertisement space. Very rude and were not capable of listening. I would avoid this golf course now that it’s under new ownership. Reply to Owner: You need to stop hiring suspect people to work for you. You apparently hired a boiler room operation to sell advertising space and then you get upset when it doesn't work out. Do you monitor the calls? You should ! Shame on a large corporation like Sterling Golf Management for hiring a shady company to sell ad space. You're better than this (I hope)!! Us "non educated" people will take our advertising dollars and green fees elsewhere.

Set a tee time last weekend a week in advance. You have to pay ahead for the tee time and for carts. The day of our tee time it was absolutely downpouring. We received a call saying we are not allowing carts today but we still expect you to be there. We asked if we could get our tee time to next week they stated no. We didn’t even get a refund for the carts that we were not allowed to use. SCAM

Course has come a long way in the last 25 years! Was in great shape, greens were smooth and quick, fairways were decent and rough is penalizing without being awful!

Third consecutive 5 hour round played here throughout the year. No ranger seen during any round. Parking is an issue as well, not nearly enough spots to support weekend play, so factor in 10+ minutes showing up and circling hoping that you can find a spot. No longer will be supporting this club.

Last 9 holes we were followed by the ranger, “security” and another person. Will not be back here. We have never had a golf ranger follow us for the last 9 holes. Making us feel like we were doing something wrong. And rushing us thru our Sunday round of golf. Their club house was a modular building NOTHING LIKE THE CLUB HOUSE PICTURED ON THEIR WEBSITE !! False advertising. Welcome to masshole haverhill !!! Never going back !!!credit to the lawn person the course was in great shape. Lots of beer cans in the woods. I wonder why??? The ranger natzi may have something to do with it. Kudos to the young man in the morning who was super friendly. He apparently is not crotchety Yet !!

Worst day of golf I’ve ever had. They overbooked the course. My friend and I had a 226 t time, we didn’t t off on the second hole until 320. I called from the second t box and offered to leave for a refund or a voucher to come back and was told no. There were literal lines at each hole similar to a mini putt course. To make it even worse, the course rangers were beyond unprofessional and tried to throw us off the course for not keeping pace when we were literally in line. Do not golf here.

It’s a short, simple layout, which obviously bothers management so the greens are brutal to compensate. Like playing your typical New England backyard course except the owner pretends the US Open is coming to town. To each their own, but it feels like a gimmick to sell this place as ‘tournament-worthy’. Staff was friendly enough and conditions were fine.

Played here for the first time in about 30 years. I believe it was called Crystal Springs back then. The course was quite wet due to recent rains, but was otherwise in good shape. There are a few holes with hidden drainage ditches that surprisingly grabbed out shots. A few greens are also in need of some TLC. But it looks like the course is working to address. I will say that I’m not a fan of the new layout. In the past few years they built a development around the course that appears to have taken over some of the course land. Notably on #8, a former Par 5, they turned it into a Par 4. I then had to walk forever to get to the #9 tee. You also need to walk between house and across a street in the new neighborhood to get to the #13 tee. Strange. The makeshift pro shop / clubhouse is very small, but the staff was friendly. I hear rumors of a new clubhouse in the plans. All in all it was a fun day and I will probably play it again.

Hole 12 runs along the road. The group in front of us was taunted, threatened and had golf balls hit at them. As we approached out ball in the fairway the same thing happened. Golf balls being hit at us with a baseball bat, taunted, threatened by the men outside of house. Not safe at all!!! Absolutely ruined a great day with my son and nephews. Becare if you play here and skip 12 completely if you do.

Played here a week ago. The course is in great shape, very well maintained. Unfortunately it did not help my game. The cost is reasonable for a round with cart. We will be back

Great course with some of the quirkiest and hardest holes in the area with ~10-15% GIR on average according to Uswing. Some feel like scaled-up mini golf. Fades and draws needed here if placement is not perfect. #2: 200y par 3 down hill to pedestal green with overhanging trees. #4: 200y to fairway blocked by tree then 200y downhill to blind green with cliff on 3 sides #5: tightest par 5 in area with OB left and right uphill eliminating driver for me. Mid iron off tee needs to clear a house sized boulder in fairway .#6: 200y par 3 downhill to green blocked by bunkers and OB if too far. Need a soft landing to stick using 5W or 7W #7: dogleg right up hill 200y for a 200y approach shot blocked tree on right if on right of fairway. Back 9 much more pleasant.

Played my first round of the season yesterday at Crystal Lake. My expectations for March golf in New England are never really high. I was so impressed with the condition of the course, and seeing a very large grounds crew presence all over the course starting their 2022 improvements. This will be my 4th season playing here and the changes I've witnessed each year to make this a top golf course from tee to green (tree removal, drainage, irrigation, hole redesigns and the removal of the geese population) cannot go unrecognized! 5 years ago, I wouldn't even consider playing this track, kudos to the company that took this course over and saw it's potential, as well as the grounds crew! I hear the next project is a beautiful new clubhouse to replace the temporary structure that's been in place since the previous owners. Keep up the great work!!!

My kind of speed. Quality holes with an easy going atmosphere. Polo shirts and golf pants certainly not required.

I play this course often and am never disappointed with its conditions. The value per dollar here is unparalleled in this general area. Greens are always very well kept and typically quite fast, bunkers always have adequate sand and are groomed properly, and for the most part (less the 11th/12th when we have had extended periods with little rain like in 2022) the fairways stay lush as well. Front nine is an excellent challenge (although I preferred the 8/9 layout pre-housing development) with a somewhat more laid back layout after the turn. No frills golf facility (no practice range, minimal amenities) but the staff is always friendly, food and drinks are good and it is by far the best deal around.

Had a misunderstanding with the pro shop and Rob did a great job rectifying the situation. Great course, will make you a better golfer with the quick elevated greens.

Harsh walk. Kind of hard course for a beginner. Can only go on the front 9 as a non member. Good price.

Great condition, our group noticed the greens r elevated from the fairways so try to live the ball in the front for uphill putts.

Went here for the first time today, after living down the street my whole childhood and framing some of the houses on the back nine. Didn't take up golf until after I moved away. The greens were in fantastic shape, especially considering its melting season and it rained yesterday. The course was a bit wet but that's to be expected considering the weather.

The course itself was in decent shape as far as the setup it was poor. Showed up for our 2:27 tee time and was told we had to wait for a cart because they didn’t have any keys for the ones they had. Finally found a cart with trash and a banana peel in it and took that. Then waited another 20 mins because the first tee was backed up 3 different groups. By the time we teed off there was four or five groups behind us. The course itself was decent but as far as the operation it was not good at all.

So I bought gift cards at Crystal, they tell you to book online , but can’t use gift card online , so I call the pro shop , they give you a big attitude . Asking me how much is on the gift card , what does it matter. Then you can’t play 9 holes any more only before 8 am and after 2:30 , they don’t tell you that when you buy the gift card , I’ll never buy a gift card from them again .

Beautiful well kept course couldn’t recommend enough. Shot under 100 for the first time in my golf career. It was getting dark out, had to bring carts back in but Gary the Ranger helped get me through the last two holes. Overall such a wonderful experience!!
