Entrance fee only 10k. Totally worth the price. I was stunned by the old architecture and the chillness of the house.

The Heritage House - Old Town of Hanoi, 87 Ma May - Hanoi, Vietnam One of the Old Quarter’s best-restored properties, this traditional merchants’ house is sparsely but beautifully decorated, with rooms filled with fine furniture set around two courtyards. Note the high steps between rooms, a traditional design incorporated to stop the flow of bad energy around the property. There are crafts and trinkets for sale here, including silver jewellery, basketwork and Vietnamese tea sets, and there’s usually a calligrapher or another craftsperson at work too. How to get there The ancient house sits at 87 Ma May, a popular Hanoi Old Quarter street. You can easily walk there for less than 10 minutes from Hoan Kiem lake. Useful Information Location: 87 Ma May Street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi Best for Family, couple, solo Entrance: 20,000 Hours: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Distance to city centre: 2.1km (1.3 mi)

Cute little house that has a bit of history to it. The architecture is very nice, with a lot of beautiful wood paneling. You can tell it was a very house when it served as such by the intricate carvings on the wood furniture. It's pretty quick to tour, you could easily be done in 30 minutes, but for only 10,000 VND it's not going to break your bank.

it’s a small old house. you need to pay entrance fee. good to take a look around the house if you have no specific things to do in the old town. spending 10-15 minutes will be enough to see the whole thing.

A small ancient house located in one of the shop lots on one of the busy streets in Hanoi. The heritage house required an admission fee and visitors will be given a pamphlet with information about the house. It is lovely to explore and to have an idea of what an ancient house in Vietnam would look like. Most of the furniture is made of high-quality wood with nice carvings. Probably worth a quick visit if you are nearby.

This was such a interesting visit. The volunteer helped us to understand the history of the place and what each room was used for. He didn't want any money in the end. I expected to be a touristic attraction but it was not chaotic and it was a nice experience we paid like $1-2 for the entrance. Well worth it.

Traditional house reminds me of my grandparents' house in the countryside. The tickets can be purchased at the door before entering the house. The design of the house and decorating are quite admirable, considering that the house is more than a hundred years old. The house is well mainly and quite luxurious and gives a good feel.

Interesting house in old quarter town, should visit if you have more time in Hanoi. Well maintain and has tour guide. Not a big house but still was a home of wealthy people. Just need about 30mins to visit, they also have a small store selling souvenir, ticket was about 10,000VND.

A great insight in the ancient Vietnamese way of life, the culture, history and heritage. A good look into an ancient Vietnamese house from the 17th to 19th century

We didn't eat here because it is a small museum. Don't think you can eat here. But for only e few dong you can have a look in to the old house and see how people used to live.

10k entry. I thought it was definitely worth a visit for 15-20 minutes, even without a tour guide. There are some explanations in English and it was interesting to see a traditional house from the late 1800s and imagine how people used to live.

Admission 10,000 VND Be aware they close 12-1:30 pm for lunch. You don’t need a guide… it takes you 10 minutes to walk through the whole thing, plus there are some signs on the wall that you can read. Overall it is interesting but is very very small.

Went here with a local guide from Hanoi Free Walking Tour last month, it's kinda unique that we could visit such place in the middle of the city center. Here we can see how traditional Vietnamese house looks like, and the guide also explained to us about what's inside the house and also some interesting history. Was thinking if it'll be boring to walk around the city only to do some cafe hopping and then we got to experience this. The ticket to visit this place is only 10K VND per person. More than affordable.

It's amazing to see the old architecture, woodwork, layout. The place has been restored twice in the past. It would have been good to have some English explanations and descriptions of the items.

Really interesting place. We went with a local tour guide on a few walking tour and he gave us so much info. I think without him we might have been a bit lost with what we were looking at but it was great!

The heritage house. It is a nice visit to have a glimpse of how people lived in Hanoi a century ago. Located right in the bustling tourist streets, so it is easy for you to find. The house is actually small. I will take you 15 mins max to explore. It took only 5 mins for me! The ticket is rather inexpensive, just 10k vnd (around 40 cents).

At a very affordable price of 10K, get entry to this old heritage house where you get to see how people lived in the olden days in Hanoi. There are 2 storeys here. While there is a brochure provided, your experience will probably be better if you come along with a guide. I spotted quite a number of visitors with a guide from the free walking tours.

Good presentation of local architecture and way of living decades ago. There is also text in English and French. Feng shuei is applied in architecture.

Beautifully reserved house. Friendly and informative guide. A must-visit! They’ve changed their decorations for Tet holiday! Lovely!

Most people miss this small place but it gives a good impression how Hanoi looked a century ago and how most of the houses are still shaped... Some really nice staff!

  • 2/5 Nguyen A. 1 year ago on Google
The house is unique, traditional and it's one of destination tourist have to visit when exploring Vn. But today, staff ( woman) had a bad attitude to the people ( student i guess) when they interviewed guest. She scolded and shouted to them. I can't accept that attitude and behavior. It's not service, it's not friendly and generous like vietnamese i thought before

An interesting house to visit, to see how people just to live and maybe even today houses have these beautiful back yards. The price was only 10.000 dong

Very interesting step into Vietnam's past. All the furniture is original and many of the old features of the house remain.

Definitely worth visiting this place, ticket price is only 10k but you can see how Vietnamese people used to live a long time ago.

I just stumbled upon this place. It's pretty cool sculptures and artwork. I didn't think any modern stuff for sale was that interesting to gaudy and over the top flashy.

  • 4/5 Wai P. 4 years ago on Google
Good place to explore how Vietnamese live long years ago. Not much to do. 30 minute is enough and worth. You have to pay entry fee but not too much.

A well-preserved house showing the unique style of houses in Hanoi a long time ago. You will learn here an interesting information on why their houses have a narrow facade. The 10,000 VND entrance fee was worth it.

It's fascinating to get a sense of what Old Hanoi used to be like, as the neighbourhood gentrifies. It's also a quiet oasis amid the chaos of Ma May street.
