Nice temple to visit. It is free. If you are a church/temple lover, this is probably one of the 2 or 3 places to visit in Hanoi

It’s closed , not sure why . Heard some guide saying it’s closed for lunch but it was 11am and not exactly lunch time. Saw reviews from 3 years ago saying it’s closed for renovations and 2023 march and still closed. Don’t waste your time coming here. We visited this place while strolling the beer street old quarter and if you are walking this way , do check out if it’s open

(Translated by Google) Bach Ma Temple is one of the four Tran towns of the ancient Thang Long citadel, including four temples: Quan Thanh Temple (located in the north of the city); Kim Lien Temple (held in the south of the city); Voi Phuc Temple (town held in the West); Bach Ma Temple (located in the east of the capital), located at 76 Hang Buom Street, Hang Buom Ward, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. Formerly, the place where Bach Ma temple was located was located in Ha Khau ward, Dong Tho province, Tho Xuong district, Hoai Duc, Thang Long. Bach Ma Temple was built in the 9th century to worship Long Do (Navel Dragon) - the original deity of Hanoi. In the tenth century, when sending troops to suppress the rebellion, Dinh Bo Linh went to Bach Ma temple in the east of Dai La to pray to the island for God to bless the country, for everything, it would be colorful to celebrate the spirit. . Dinh Bo Linh went to Dang Xa village (Van Xa, Kim Bang, Ha Nam) to recruit soldiers, from which Dinh Bo Linh was able to fight. After reuniting the country, returning to Dang Xa village, King Dinh Tien Hoang dreamed of a god calling himself Than Bach Ma dreaming: '' God has obeyed Hoang Thien and followed the king to fight the enemy. Now that the world is peaceful, the king has not given thanks, so it is not proper ''. When the King woke up, he knew that the Spirit was very inspired, immediately confered a gift, and the room was: Ho Quoc Bao Canh Linh Te Te, Do Dai Thanh Hoang Linh Lang Bach Ma Dai Vuong Thuong Phuc Phuc. Dinh Tien Hoang sent envoys to bring the spirit of Bach Ma to Dang Xa commune, Co Bang district, Phu Ly Nhan, Dao Son Nam, and order the people to build another temple to worship Bach Ma in Queen Duong Thi Nguyet's hometown to worship, called the Temple of the Spirit, Lang Bach Ma. During the reign of Nguyen Dynasty, the 9th king of Dong Khanh king, bestowed upon him the title: Ham Quang Thuong Dang Than, specifically for worship, to immediately remember the joy of water and clear the sea of worship. Therefore, today in Ha Nam, there is also Bach Ma temple worshiping a god in the capital of Thang Long. In 1010, when Ly Thai To moved the capital from Hoa Lu to Thang Long, he tried to make a wall but many times the city was broken up again. The king sent prayers at the temple of Long Do when he saw a white horse coming out of the temple. The King traced the horse's footsteps, drew a blueprint for building a citadel and a new citadel stood firm. The god was appointed by King Ly Thai To to become tutelary of Thang Long citadel. The epitaph still in the temple said that Bach Ma temple was greatly renovated in the year of Chinh Hoa (1680-1705) of the Le Hy Tong dynasty, until the year of the 20th Minh Par (1839) was further renovated: repairing the temple, build his own writing, build Phuong Dinh, increasingly large-scale, solemn landscape, famous in the sacred land. (Original) Đền Bạch Mã là một trong tứ Trấn của kinh thành Thăng Long xưa, gồm bốn ngôi đền: Đền Quán Thánh (trấn giữ phía Bắc kinh thành); Đền Kim Liên (trấn giữ phía Nam kinh thành); Đền Voi Phục (trấn giữ phía Tây kinh thành); Đền Bạch Mã (trấn giữ phía Đông kinh thành), nằm ở địa chỉ 76 phố Hàng Buồm, phường Hàng Buồm, quận Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội. Xưa kia nơi đền Bạch Mã tọa lạc thuộc địa dư phường Hà Khẩu, tổng Đông Thọ, huyện Thọ Xương, phủ Hoài Đức, Thăng Long.

A small but interesting temple dedicated to the spirit Bach Ma (White Horse) who helped the king in building the Hanoi Citadel. This temple is near Quan De Temple and the Hanoi Ancient House so you could these 3 places in less than 3 hours. Take note of the temple's lunch break which lasts until 2pm.

Just a normal temple. Around the TET (lunar new year) time all the temples I the country are decorated beautifully and the atmosphere is one of celebration and happiness, the people is super welcoming and as long as you're respectful you can enter. Always remember to wear pants to temples and not too revealing T.shirts. Let's respect the culture
