Though didn't have the chance to attend a show due to time constraints, we were delighted to see the beautiful structure lit up in the night. With a yellowish tinge, it’s worth the view.

The Hanoi Opera House, or the Grand Opera House is an opera house in central Hanoi, Vietnam. It was erected by the French colonial administration between 1901 and 1911. Hanoi Opera House is one of three opera houses that the French built during their time in Indochina, the others are Haiphong Opera House and Municipal Theatre in Ho Chi Minh city. It was modeled on the Palais Garnier, the older of Paris's two opera houses, and is considered to be one of the architectural landmarks of Hanoi. The main architectural style of the Opera House is Neoclassicism. As mentioned before, Hanoi Opera House was modeled on the Palais Garnier but with a smaller scale and using materials that are suitable with the environment. After the departure of the French the opera house became the scene for several political events.as well as the scene of street fighting during the fight for Hanoi. The Hanoi Opera House provides the names for the neighboring Hilton Hanoi Opera Hotel which opened in 1999, as well as for the MGallery Hotel de l'Opera Hanoi, which opened in 2011. For historical reasons associated with the Vietnam war, the Hilton Hanoi Opera Hotel was not named the Hanoi Hilton.

Beautiful colonial opera house. The façade is inspired by the Opéra Garnier in Paris and has a Belle Époque fashion. It’s worth a visit. Visitors can enter only when they’re audience of a concert, otherwise, the building isn’t opened to the public. However, you can access the garden and the right wing from the back via Highlands Coffee entrance.

A brilliant looking building from the outside though it is situated on a very busy roundabout. We only got to see it from the outside - you likely will not be able to go in in the absence of an event or opera.

I would give this 6 stars if possible. One of the best places I have visited. We saw Tchaikovsky's 'Nutcracker' here and it was sublime. The building itself is a marvel, and the tour of it is essential whilst in Buenos Aires. Check for late bookings at ridiculous prices in 'the gods' which is a great place to watch from. Cannot be recommended high enough.

The Opera House itself is pretty. Compared to the one in Paris, it’s much smaller, less golden less velvet red, more white and sky blue, feeling less luxurious overall. The one problem we’ve had is the narrow seats. We’ve bought the cheapest range mainly to see the inside of the house. The seats in this range obviously don’t fit anyone of 1.8 m or XXL Vietnamese size. Only the two seats on the highest row shown in my photo have more room as they are next to a pillar.

An ideal spot to stand and witness the hustle and bustle of Hanoi city. It's an iconic building and mostly used as a pick up spot for tourists for various day trips. The building reminds of the French architecture and well maintained till now. Also ideal as a good background for pictures. You can find many people sitting here or taking pictures. The place in front of the opera is free and no vehicles are allowed to park. Very near from Hanoi's city center and other tourist spots.

Great place and unlike any other places in town, the Opera House in Hanoi located at the heart of Hanoi. Great shows take place here. A historic site with architectural features of the French colonial period. This place is also a very central location of Hanoi capital.

I was excited to visit the opera house, but it’s in a busy area and you can’t go in without a booking or ticket to a show. The French quarter isn’t obvious in the area either. I would recommend instead doing a hop on/off bus and learning about the opera house from their!

(Translated by Google) The new Hanoi Opera House was inaugurated in 1911. This is a French masterpiece of art. It is perfect in every detail, deserving of the best music viewing space in Indochina. The hotel is located a stones throw from everywhere you want to visit in Hanoi. A few minutes walk to old town or many other historic attractions. The hotel staff were great and happy to help you with anything but the hotel is old and you can tell just by the smell. Many of the amenities are old and the hotel is showing its age. Having said that it is great value for where it is and I do recommend it over other hotels in the region.

A little model of an opera house in Paris. when compared with that, this's the same as a type only. Nevertheless, the plus point would be that the opera house in Hanoi was renovated and keep great from the outside. Though the interior within isn't well maintained which smells funny. The singing stage is one way to little. If goes there simply for an image then YES! Beautiful spot for a little bit of culture. Generally, tickets aren't costly so it's okay going out because of the evening.

Yup...the Opera House is very like the Paris Opera House (just smaller!) for one second you simply believe that you're in Paris. It's a lovely structure which, fortunately, is spared all of the communist propaganda of festoon & written notices on its leading so you are able to benefit from the lines of the structure of the structure.

Very beautiful. The architecture is very tasteful and worth noting is memorable. It is a smaller version of the one in Paris. It was also the first building in Hanoi to have air conditioning according to our guide. I recommend seeing the outside at night when it is lit up.

The Hanoi Opera house stands as one of the important historical landmarks of Hanoi. This historic building has organized several musical performances and also important official conferences, and it continues to do so today. After 1945, Hanoi Opera house became a meeting place of the government, the National assembly and hosted many drama performances. It was used as a venue for Vietnamese artists then. It was built in 1911 by the French and mimics the Paris Opera House in its structure and interiors. Hanoi Opera house is located in the heart of the city and is located at a walking distance from Hoan Kiem lake. I visited this place twice and both times it was closed for visitors, No idea why. When I asked the reason, I didn't get the proper answer.

What year was Hanoi Opera House built? Ever since arriving in Hanoi in 1883, the French colonial government intended to build a cultural and artistic center. In 1901, Hanoi Opera House was started construction and inaugurated in 1911. This artistic masterpiece is designed after the model of the Opéra Garnier theater in Paris. Therefore, the Hanoi Opera House bears the mark of classical European architecture with perfection in every detail, providing the most luxurious, academic art space in Indochina of its time. After 1945, the Hanoi Opera House became a conference venue for the National Assembly and the Government, where military parades took place... Many Vietnamese drama troupes can also rent the theater to Forum. With the formation of Hanoi's urban population and new intellectuals, the theater has become a vibrant artistic place for Vietnamese writers and artists today. By the end of the 20th century, Hanoi Opera House fell into serious disrepair. At that time, the Government of Vietnam decided to choose a duplicate program. The project began in 1995, completed in 1997. This is the first and only restoration of the theater ever. Today, Hanoi Opera House is one of the largest theaters in Vietnam. Academic art performances often take place here and are also a tourist attraction when arriving in Hanoi.

Beautiful, classical opera house in the heart of Hanoi. I came here to see the "My Village" acrobatic performance. Both the venue and the show are fantastic. It surpassed my expectations. I've seen multiple acrobatic shows around the world - Cirque du Soleil, House of Dancing Water, Chinese acrobatic shows - and this one deserves its place right up there! It has local flair to it that really captured the Vietnamese culture in a beautiful way.

Since opera houses are intended for opera, theatre and concerts, the best way to evaluate is by attending such an event. I went to hear a classical concert featuring a stunning flautist. The acoustics and visibility were terrific, as was my physical comfort. The building was stunning, viewed from the outside, at night, and equally so from the inside. Highly recommended!

One of the best experience in Hanoi, not only for the tourist but for the Vietnamese. The Hanoi Opera House is not very large but it has good architecture and there are often the classic shows: les miserables, Giselle... The best place in the opera is in the centre of first row on the second floor.

Hanoi Opera House was built by French government during their colonialization time in Vietnam. It is located at the central area of Hanoi city, within walking distance from Hoan Kiem Lake. It is one of Hanoi landmark and the tourist destination in the city. I didn't manage to catch up a show here, just enjoying the view of the French architectural products from outside. Within the vicinity, there are hotels, restaurants, local street food outlets, government office and other landmarks. To reach here, you may take the public transportation and e-hailing Grab service.

View from the outside with the giant intersection, just exudes Parisian vibes. In the french quarter so nice to add on if exploring there. We hired an English speaking student walking tour guide that took us to the places we were interested in seeing for $5 (for 4 hours total), she taught us lots about this and other locations that we'd never have known without her. Hanoi's landmark is often defined by this opera house. The building is really nice, built in classic French style. The opera house is located in the center of Hanoi in front of a very busy roundabout, which somewhat spoils the impression of this beautiful building.
