Average hostel at best. Zero atmosphere whatsoever. Nothing like the others in the VBH chain. Even though this is technically in the Hanoi old quarter, this place is in a weird alley and nowhere near the main streets where all the action is. I accidentally booked a night here after returning from a trip and nearly turned around. I walked in at 10 pm and was treated by an older Vietnamese security guard/front desk person who just woke up from his sleep. He just took my passport and gave me the keys. Went up to the dorm room to see a couple of Russian girls watching movies on their phones. Keep in mind that this was a Saturday night. I just stayed at the VBH downtown location and had sooo much fun there that I couldn’t imagine this was the in the same chain. Do yourselves a favour and avoid this place unless all you want is to be bored out of your mind that you can only sleep. No idea why VBH hasn’t gotten rid of this embarrassment.

If you are over the age of 24 this may not be the place for you.... we stayed in "downtown hostel" and did not feel at home amongst 20 year old party boys. Moved to the original and realized it wasn't much better. Bathrooms were the cleanest we have had so far but they was about the only plus. We moved across the street to Golden Snake Hostel and got some seriously good sleep!!! If you want to drink and party and meet other tourists then this is a good place. If you have day trips and just need a nice place to sleep then walk across the street.

Unfriendly staff, bad location, and disappointing breakfast. No curtains for the beds. Advantages it's cleanish. Disadvantageds the security doesn't know English which can be problematic.. I wouldn't recommend this hostel to friend

Great Hostel! Has a lot of staff ready to help you and they are constantly organizing activities for the guest! Has a great location right in the middle of the Old Quarter

Avoid room 501 Hi guys. I just want to confirm that I never complain. Ever. I don’t see the benefit of it when it can be dealt with privately however this is a little different We stayed in room 501 for two nights. A Thursday and Saturday. The Friday was on a cruise which was 100% safe. On entering the room I was a little concerned about mould on the wall.. but we’re travelling right so I just dealt with it. I didn’t however realise that the window was locked shut and the ventilation system in the shower may as well not have been there. The only way to get air into the room was by leaving he door open... which I did for as long as I could. The air was moist. The bed sheets were moist. It didn’t feel right It’s been four days since we left, my other half had a very sore throat instantly on the Sunday morning. I however have developed tonsillitis which has been with me the last few days which I haven’t had since I was 4 (23 years ago) I’m not saying for sure it was the room and the mould.. maybe just a coincidence? I am the last to complain and I do understand what comes with travelling - grubby rooms etc but this is dangerous if this is what’s caused it (I’m 99% sure) The staff are nice and they do offer great things as you can see by other reviews. I’m sure the other rooms are perfect. I just hope this results in the room being fixed. I wish you all safe and healthy travels xx

What was once the best place in Old Town, is now becoming just a joke, as they push guest all activities etc to there new location downtown. While totally neglecting this location. Most guest here are the staff from there tours or work the other hostel. Or over flow from downtown location or those that see the old reviews . Shame ..! Some of the staff help nice friendly. Good point rooms still clean & price average for neighborhood. Breakfast is ok..!

Great clean double room with private bathroom. Comfy bed with fluffy pillows. Towels, toothbrushes, soap... No elevator and thin walls. Free breakfast 7:00-10:00 (bread, onion omelette, cucumber & tomato slice). Free beers around 18:00. Nice staff. Laundry service. Bus service. Free Wi-Fi. Perfect location (old city centre, near the cathedral). You can hear the cathedral bells from the room :)

This hostel was excellent. They have an elevator, activities every night, very hospitable, tons of tours. I just couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in Hanoi. The staff was the most helpful I've ever encountered. Oh, and there's free breakfast. The location is excellent

Visited in October 2015, got a double room, cleanliness was okay, bed okay, bathroom good. Staff pretty friendly and professional. We booked the Castaway cruise for three days after chatting with the staff and being told it was chill atmosphere (we clearly said that we weren't into binge drinking). Activities (rock-climbing, wakeboard) are clearly over sold, sometimes dangerous and not worth the price.

Manager is drunk, dishonest and sexually harasses workers. Night staff aren't trained well, quite confused. There are bed bugs in the back rooms , my experience was in the "thong" room. Female room names include thong and nunnery, kinda sexist? But really fun to stay there, free beer everyday at 5. Super friendly staff. Great environment and location. Rooms are clean but they need to figure out the bedbug situation in the back rooms.

Well if you did not just pick up cash and finish payment before I confirm amount, I would have rated 4 or 5 stars. Does not matter even if you just picked “right price” up, I was very sad when I heard of you two’s doubtful conversation in the local language behind the reception. (I wish I misunderstood it) Bad hospitality mind for guests, to me at least. Not talking about my missing cash, your compassionate as a professional. Please trade fairly. The accommodation itself was fine, maybe. Near the old town, shops and others. Staffs were kind and open as long as there is no money dealing. Thank you and sorry to complain but I am not feeling clear about the experience.

This is the best hostel I've stayed in. The staff are so friendly. There social activities are fun and are at a nice level whereby every age can enjoy them. Great accommodation and facilities including a roof top bar. Highly recommend this hostel.

Comfy bed (medium-firm) and very clean. I stayed in the "Nunnery" which is all female, 10 beds. Maybe I was lucky but this didn't create any issues. Security is great- they don't take your passport and they give you a very large locked cupboard under the bed and a smaller one for valuables by your bed. They have staff at the front desk at all hours who are approachable and they're a mix of local and foreign staff. They try to create a party type hostel and yes, you do hear it as they announce happy hour everyday room to room but the bar is on the top floor and I wasn't too bothered. There's cheaper tours available if you get them in the old quarter 10mins walk away. Breakfast was ok. Wi-Fi was really great.

I really recommend this hostel for backpackers! Very nice and clean hostel that offers a nice free breakfast. It also has free city and food walk tours, and this is a good way to get to know the city a bit, in addition to meeting with other backpackers! The downtown hostel is recommended if you like to party every night.

(Translated by Google) The place is clean and is very well distributed with rooms under the bunk beds and small drawers next to it, all under lock and key. The rich breakfast, included with the stay. Although the staff does not overflow with sympathy ... It never hurts a good morning, a hello and a goodbye. But, otherwise, perfect. It's a great place to stay if you're in the city. Placed smack in the middle of the old quarter, it's pretty accessible from various parts of the city. Compared to Downtown, it's definitely quieter and more for sleeping in. Would definitely recommend for my next visit 🤟

Standard backpacking affair, staff are very keen to help, rooms and locks could be nicer. Would recommend if the downtown hostel is full. But If not head DOWNTOWN.

(Translated by Google) I have stayed here 3 times while i visited in Hanoi last month. It is located convenient place in central Hanoi. The staff are very kind, and all facilities are clean. You can leave big luggage under bed with security box, while you go to outside. They have free wifi and pancake & coffee breakfast is free. They say that original unique tour called''Buffalo Run''although i didn't join it. Interested visitors feel free to ask stuffs. They helped me to reserve a taxi to go to airport because so I had to departure early morning. my recommension The hotel is conveniently located near the church. There is also a luggage compartment with a key under the bed, which is convenient for sightseeing in the city. The rooms are clean and the staff are kind. I could easily book my stay on TripAdvisor on the day and stay for 150 dong + (key deposit 100 dong will be returned). Bread and coffee breakfast is also included. I really like Vietnam on this trip. I would like to stay again. (Original) I have stayed here 3 times while i visited in Hanoi last month. It is located convenient place in central Hanoi.
