Terrible animal welfare standards. Enclosures small, dirty and poorly maintained. Elephants chained to the spot in their enclosure. No visible enrichment for the animals. Rabbits 2 to a cage in a cage which was less than 1m long and 50cm high and wide and with no visible water supply. This was on a day which was 32 degrees in the shade and they were clearly suffering. The tiger was pacing up and down in its cage which was clearly too small for it. The toilets were filthy and some stalls had no doors. The paths have not been maintained and though there are some nice trees and vegetation paths wound under them are very broken up. There are a lot of fun fair amusement rides we did not try them. We did try the inflatable balls that go on the lake and the kids did enjoy that.

Zoos should be turned into animal sanctuaries. With technology today, there are other ways to educate without harming animals. Why do zoos, circuses and terrible places like Sea World exist? Do not support the exploitation and abuse of animals.

It was the worst zoo I've ever visited and there was no fun there at all. We bought the tickets at the entrance. Then when we got inside, there were many kid rides and if you want to use their services, you will have to pay. I thought it was the most exciting part for a little kid to play in the zoo. I was there on a hot day so we decided to hire an electric car to go around, Besides, we wanted to save time to go to other places. It was a short ride and for many times, the driver just stopped completely to talk to other drivers or at the water stall although we didn't ask him to. The animals were miserable. Many of them were too skinny. Some were old. The tigers and lions screamed like they were in jail and wanted to get out. Many monkeys didn't even have any hair. The elephants were tied by the big chains but the zoo staff explained that those elephants were old and easy to get mad so they tied them there so they wouldn't hurt anyone. The cages were dirty. Food was thrown there. The cleanest parts of the zoo were the lake and the birds' cages. It took us only 30 mins there to see everything.

Not very interesting. The zoo in in a bag condition. The wild animals are held in horrific conditions, like zoos 100 years ago. The bears are miserable, the tigers, the same, cramped on a small small cage and looking depressed. The elephants were only recently released from the chains they were held with, and now there's any electric fence around their compound. 1 zebra that is kept with one horse, the giraffe died, I was told. Really horrible conditions for the animals.

Provided the limited resources, I highly appreciate the huge effort that the staff dedicate to their work and to the animals they are taking care of daily. Many cubs have been born and raised here over the years.

Ha Noi Zoo, in Ba Dinh district, Ha Noi, was recognised as a tourist site according to a recent decision approved by the Ha Noi city People’s Committee. The decision also announced that Ha Noi Zoo Co. Ltd has responsibilities to manage and develop the site in accordance with the Law on Tourism and related legal documents. Established in 1976, Ha Noi Zoo, also known as Thu Le Park, covers around 29 hectares in Ngoc Khanh ward. It is home to 600 individuals of over 100 species including amphibians, saltwater fishes, mammals, and birds. More than 40 species among them are endemic species which are listed in the Vietnam’s Red Book, such as the Asian golden cat, Indochinese tiger, leopard, and Vietnamese fireback. Ha Noi Zoo joined the South East Asian Zoos Association in 1993 and has expanded its cooperation with many zoos and other wildlife conservation organisations around the world. It opens for the public from 8:00 to 18:00 every day.

It was awful! Cruel conditions for the animals, plastic waste all over the place, a vast number of shops with disposable toys for kids, it was incredibly crowded. Rather a cheap fairground than a zoo. Never again!

To be frank, it's not a state-of-the-art park or zoo. But to me, it was interesting experience to visit here and understand the lives of common people in Vietnam.

Very weak zoo, which causes a depressing impression. The park paints the lake, but even around it everything is very neglected. It’s definitely not worth going here specially, only if you were walking by. The zoo in Saigon is much better.

How the government allows this place to stay open!!!!! It's disgraceful! Such a cruelty to animals! I cannot believe this place is still open.... this need to be reported and all the animals released or taken to a better zoo to another country where they have a better care.. very very sad... DO NOT GO and support this. For your information i didnt go, the local showed me photos when I asked him about the zoo they have in Hanoi. Very very very bad....

Very cheap zoo. It is fairly underdeveloped. Some animals are lethargic and unhappy. In particular, the environment of elephants is very shocking. Steel chains are attached to the neck and legs. Literally, they went crazy because of the extreme stress. And full of scars. Damn.. so pitiful🤦😿

It is a city park that was transformed into a zoo. Some nice views and places for photos. Worth a visit if you are into animals.... Not the worse zoo on Earth, however it needs serious improvements.... rats everywhere (even into the animals' cages), some mammals really suffering with the heat, and so on.... although I felt they were treated good, some more funding to the place would be welcome.

This park is a place that combines a zoo and an amusement park. *There is an admission fee which is 30.000d for adult and 20.000d for kids who are less than 1.3m tall. Also there is an additional fee when using the ride.

Horrendous zoo. No consideration for animal welfare. Bears were swaying their heads stuck in a tiny enclosure. Elephants supposed to be in a herd , and there is only two. Majority of the enclosures look like they haven’t been touched, water sources green and not looked replenished at all. Horrendous quality of life for these animals. It needs shutting down.

Sad sad place, the animals seem to be left to fend for themselves. Cages, dirt, feeces, no clean water etc. A terrible show for young kids. Take your children to a real park. DONT GO TO THE HANOI ZOO.

So crowded on the 3rd day of Tet holiday. Most of them are family with kids. There are many animals such as Bengal tiger, hippos… Besides animals, the park also has a variety of energetic outdoor activities such as swan boat driving, high speed train or rollerblading. Ticket price is very reasonable but not inclusive. If you use other services or buy something more while strolling through the park, you’ll to pay more.

Why are the elephants chained? They were clearly stressed out in that situation. Let them at least roam around freely. For all the rest the park is good

This is a combination amusement park and zoo. The noisy and colourful carnival rides are right next to the animal enclosures, which are too small and contain no plants or enrichment activities. The animals are obviously distressed and in poor condition. Overall this was a really upsetting experience and if you value animal welfare you will avoid this zoo.

Worst zoo I have ever been to. Animals are in small dirty enclosures with minimal dirty water that clearly doesn't get changed on a daily basis. Enclosures also hardly have any stimulation for the animals. The animals are dirty, some under weight, the bears in particular are shocking to look at, rocking back and forth in the same spot for a long time, they have clearly gone mentally insane in their dark, smelly, dirty, tiny enclosure. Can not even put into words how disgusting and wrong this place is. Me and my partner left this place so mentally drained and heart broken. If you have any compassion for animals and a heart, definitely do not come here, we wouldn't have visited if we knew it was like this. I don't know how the people who run the zoo can do this, horrible people with no basic standards of care. This zoo is evil.

Small enclosures, very little space to move around, conditions of enclosures were appalling, felt more like a prison for the animals, the elephants were chained to a post in their own enclosure. It made me feel sad and angry to be in this zoo.

So many things have changed since I was 10 (I'm now 22). It wasn't as interesting as it had been. Less diversity of wild animals, dull entertaining games, and so on. When I was there last week, I was a little disappointed.

It might not be fancy but you can see various species of monkeys, birds, tigers, elephants, giraffes, and hippos. However it broke my heart seeing those rabbits and cats were locked in tiny cages and those cages definitely hurt the rabbits’ feet.

Unexpectedly good. Enough attractions to keep kids amused and occupied. I was surprised at the amount of animals kept at zoo. It was reasonably priced for admission. Lions, tiger, giraffe, hippopotamus, monkey, birds and many more. Disappointed to see elephant chained though. A few funfair rides and the obligatory big ball on the lake where kids can mess around inside it . Nice day out.

Animal care is very poor in some areas (despite several fountains in the lake and park area, water in animal facilities is terribly dirty/green - siamese crocodiles - or almost absent - hippos; monkey facilities in some cases lack any branches or other places to climb etc., all cages lack any plants and they have hard floor made of tiles). On the other hand some animals have plenty of space and look good. The park is peaceful place for a walk and can be fun especially with children as there are many carousels, smalĺ roller coasters etc. Mediocre experience.

As a European I can say that there is a lot to improve here, as most of the animals don't have enough space or can't hide themselves from the starring crowd. The rabbits in the small cages were really a nightmare. They can't hide at all, please try to change that. We shouldn't teach our children that it is okay for animals to be treated that way just so we can take pictures of them. They are living creatures and deserve a decent life.

The zoo is already nice and offers an escape from the traffic in Hanoi. There are signs up saying how much money is being put into improving the zoo for the animals and visitors. Currently good but in the future could be amazing. Well worth a visit.

The poor animals in small cages; living in their own filth. This place needs a complete overhaul. They would be better off turning this place into a botanical garden; with such a great location next to a lake

The zoo is in the process of rebuilding, some of the cages and some of the animals doesn't look good, but this place is cheap (40k vnd) and fine to spend 1-2 hours in case you wanna walk and don't have any idea what to do. By the way, animals always give you some positive emotions

A cruel place for the animals imprisoned in there. No welfare standards whatsoever. The area, the water and nature are beautiful though. Why torture these animals in this zoo, instead of making a simple park out of it? Luckily our 1 year old daughter was too young to capture how the animals are held. If she was older, it would have given her nightmares.

Thule Park is one of the largest and most beautiful parks in Hanoi, Vietnam. It features a spacious and green landscape, covered with trees, flowers, and a lake. This is an ideal place to enjoy fresh air, exercise, relax, and learn about the culture and history of Vietnam. Thule Park offers many activities and amenities to serve tourists, including running and walking paths, a children's play area, a mini football field, a tennis court, and various cafes and restaurants. Additionally, there are several gardens and memorials within the park to honor the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for their country. If you want to experience a green and relaxing space and learn about the culture of Vietnam, Thule Park is a worthwhile destination to visit in Hanoi

Animals are being tortured here by some visitors as well as by the responsibles of the Hanoi Zoo itself. There are only two Elephants, and they have to stand on an artficial stone square while being hold at a two meters iron chain. It made me so sad to see how they suffer and have become mad. A single bear was imprisoned in a little cache without anything to play or even to get a shadow from. The monkeys had a bit more space to move, but they were put in a dark box after 05:30 pm, when the visitors were going to leave. The dogs' situation was not better, they became obviously crazy and some people had fun to make them angry. I could only cry...

Compared to many zoos we've visited the animals are in small inadequate enclosures. However, we knew not to expect a western-type zoo with lots of resources. We spoke to an (English) animal welfare officer we met who was doing an inspection and heard that they are trying to gradually improve things, which is positive. We did see some interesting animals, including elephants, tigers, asiatic bears, porcupines, monkeys and exotic birds, although there are no snakes or other reptiles. There are also lots of fairground type rides, really for under sixes. Cost 10,000 dong pp.

(Translated by Google) I like it because since childhood, this place is the place with the most animals in Hanoi. Now let me go to see, each crime is so many people selling things :( (Original) Mình thích vì từ bé chỗ này là chỗ nhiều động vật nhất HN. Giờ cho con đi xem, mỗi tội nhiều ng bán đồ quá :(

(Translated by Google) Lately there are few animals, especially the lack of pythons and snakes. Last time, our family was Indian, they liked to watch Python vs Snake, but unfortunately the zoo did not. (Original) Dạo này ít thú, đặc biệt thiếu trăn và rắn. Horrible, horrible place. It’s only good as an illustration of prison. If you want to teach your kids animal cruelty, violence and heartlessness - that’s the place to visit Of course I didn’t expect to see African safari, but Jesus Christ neither I expected to see such a horror being exposed publicly as a local attraction Chained elephants, tiger going back n forth in a cage, hippo that barely fits in a pool, zebra - who is born to run- is being placed in 100m2 cage, large parrots and eagles that can’t fly, ostriches with skinny legs as they have no space to any physical activity. And it goes on and on. The only species that has enough food and space are rats, they are everywhere Disaster. Definitely do not recommend. Moreover I wish with all my heart such places will vanish one day
